Deer Antler Bushcraft Knife
Last summer I found a deer antler on holiday and decided to use it as knife handle. This was a really fun project do and I learned some new things on the way. Deer antler is a wonderful material to work with and I guess I will use it more in future projects, for it gives a really nice look and fits the outdoors theme of a bushcraft knife.
Have fun watching this video!

And so it didn't take long until I started crafting my fist own knife. Because I love the outdoors and the bushcraft life so much, I wanted to make a outdoors-bushcraft video to inspire others to get outside! In this video: hammock camping, fire lighting, coockin...

    The knife could have used a kick at the sharpening choil to keep the blade from touching the back spring dulling the cutting edge.

I wish you the best of luck with your first folder, dont be surprised that some frustrations could be envolved in making these things, they can be a real pain in the ass, but its a great way of learning new things and in the end you gain a lot of fulfilment! Good luck and thanks again!

    how do you harden these knives

    • @featherstoneproducts6833
      @featherstoneproducts6833 Před 4 měsíci

      I heat the blade until its red/orange and then I quench it in rapeseed oil for about 10 seconds. The rapid cooling of the steel makes it hard. Then I let it cool down to room temperature and at last I put it in the kitchen oven for 2 hours at 200°C. This tempering releases the stress in the steel and makes it less brittle and more springy

    This is literally one the best looking folding knives I’ve ever seen. Does the knife use anything to snap closed? Like a magnet? Or is it just bearings?

    • @featherstoneproducts6833
      @featherstoneproducts6833 Před 8 měsíci

      Thanks a lot! The blade clicks in place folded and unfolded just by the spring and the shape of the part of the blade that slides against the spring. Because the hole where on the blade rotates is off center, more tension occurs and there by the blade is forced in one of the 2 positions. There is also a pin where the little notch in the blade fits into, preventing it from hitting the spring piece on the interior and harming the blade
