Thank you for posting this! I think it would be hard to estimate the influence that this individual has had on Irish music. A outsider to traditional music, trained in European art music, he nevertheless focused Ireland’s ears inward and Irish music of all genres was never the same since. His brilliant granddaughter, the fiddler/singer/scholar/presenter Doireann Glackin , has produced a touching documentary on TG4, “Seán Ó Riada - Mo Sheanathair.” TG4 is the Irish language version of RTE. If like me, your only Irish consists of a few swear words, then don’t worry. Just hit the “cc” button to get English translations of all the narrations and interviews (but sadly not the songs).

Her beautiful voice and way of singing are unmistakable to me. - Irish history is often bringing water to my eyes. Incredible speed and precision but, at this tempo, the groove suffers. Just sounds sped up. Entertaining for sure. I just can’t help wondering how many clicks down might maintain the groove and be ultimately more satisfying? Bravo all around. A true show-stopper!
