This is an East coast phenomenon in the UK. To most it is called sea mist, to the Scot it is the haar. It's a little like fog but not quite. It is cool, somewhat refreshing and gives the photographer an excuse to practise their art.. It is caused by the sun heating up the cool waters of the North sea

What is Brechin like to live in? Looking to move to either there, Dundee, Arbroath , Perth or Montrose!
If you like the quiet side of life then Brechin is A good one. If you like to be amongst lots of people then Dundee has to be the one for you. For the middle of the road then consider Arbroath or Montrose, I don't know Perth, in fact I live in the Stoke-on-Trent area... Well... Someone has to lol. All the best in your endeavours .
@@keenjohns I know Dundee quite well(my family are there) I was born and raised in Southampton , but looking to get away from the sprawling council estate life I have lived with for the last 40 yrs....
Viper. Me too! I went to primary / secondary school in Brechin then on to Forfar Academy for my Highers as my parents moved to Kirriemuir. Lived at Dubton Farm off Latch Road. Loved the place ... especially the little Austrian cake and tea shop at the bottom of School Wynd (terrific hot chocolate!) 👍

I wouldn't know Larry, we only discovered this Scottish gem around 3 years ago. But I speak as a Sassenach, so for all I know this Chinese emporium of fine cuisine could well be prehistoric lol. All the best.

I was there!
A slight correction. The young officer attacked with a knife, was my father. He was the commanding officer on one of the other Norwegian minesweepers based in Dundee and Montrose. The incidence took place in Dundee docks, not in Montrose. Bamse was awarded the medal partly due to this episode.
You got a lovely low tide that day :) I used to plan childhood trips on this beach with the tides from the local paper.

I can't answer that Norma, Brechin is one of our Scottish holiday haunts, we live near Stoke-on-Trent. Good luck with your search for the Tanners.

Bamse is pronounced "Bum-sa" (it means Teddy Bear or simply Teddy in Norwegian) and the Thorodd is pronounced "Too-rod."
