IMPORTANT TO NOTE. None of the small models compost anything. They are collection devices not composters. Calling a 4 gallon churning bin a composting toilets is deceiving. Think those tiny, less-than-4-gallon composting toilets are effectively composting your waste? Think again! Here’s why they don't: Insufficient Time: Real composting needs many months! Small receptacles fill up quickly, giving waste no time to decompose properly. Poor Aeration : Composting thrives on oxygen. Tiny containers often lack the airflow needed 9even with the fan), leading to bad smells and ineffective composting. Temperature Issues : Composting needs heat to break down waste and kill pathogens. Small volumes can’t retain the necessary high temperatures. Moisture Problems : Maintaining the perfect moisture balance is tough in small spaces. Too much or too little moisture = composting failure. Health Risks : Without proper composting conditions, pathogens don’t break down, posing serious health risks. Check out larger systems or learn more from experts like the EPA and the Humanure Handbook by Joseph Jenkins. I have had a Nature's Head for three years with continuous use. It works to reduce volume and store temporarily for 2-3 months, but then it all goes to the real composting bin outside.

Thanks for your video, only now do I appreciate our Thetford chemical toilet, so much more. I just hope caravan parks start using seperate bins for that "compost" that last fresh one could not have been composted? I don't know or care how long it takes to compost.....I just don't want one, "ever"!

It's great to see this ep BOE ! The market is flooded now with noise and rubbish. It was great to see you guys run different trips to different locations which weren't super pumped adverts, but family adventures. I am really disappointed my wife and I didnt say hello at Punsand Bay in 2020, we were super nervous and a little shy. I am really looking forward to your next adventures. Goodluck with the property hunt. Maybe, and I know this is like "show us ya rig " eps, but maybe have visitors show their setups, or tips they have, for everyone to enjoy. Non-biased, real people with their real families and lives with great recipes, or trick to pack up their gear or gadgets they can't live without (my wife loves a gadget). Whatever amazing ideas you come up with, enjoy all the things. You both look and sounds great, even with the snot :P

May I recommend "The Compost Toilet Handbook" by Joseph Jenkins? There is a MUCH simpler and MUCH nicer way to deal with humanure, etc. No odor, no expense, nothing unpleasant to deal with, etc.

Well done. I have the Nature Way toilet. I use wheat bran and the Black Soldier Fly Larvae to eat my poop into fertilizer poop free clean up.😂

Here's the thing: That toilet is $1030 US dollars as of 6/17/24. So you pay all that money and you still have to detach and carry that semi-heavy, cumbersome toilet outside to empty/clean it. A MUCH easier method is to build a small wooden box about 2 feet square (measure the height of your bucket first) and make a hinged top for it, cut a toilet bowl sized hole in it, put a 5 gallon bucket lined with a plastic bag inside the box. Attach a toilet seat to the top and you're mostly there. Online you can find a urine diverter for US$45 to catch your pee separately, and you can line the poopie bucket with biodegradable bags if you want to. So much more affordable and you never have to take the unit outside. You can use L brackets to attach it to the floor the same as the Natures Head. I just don't see the benefits at that price point. FYI, about a cup of 3% hydrogen peroxide in your catch container keeps the urine smell from being noticeable. Cheers and good luck.

A tragically expensive solution to a simple problem that doesn't compost. Honestly you are better off with a bucket and wood shavings

I'm so,so glad I DID NOT buy the overpriced Nature's Head toilet! What a pain in the ass. The fact you have to remove the whole toilet with the waste inside will be a challenge for older,weaker people. Then trying to clean the inside with all the crooks and crannies the stirring mechanism is more than anyone should have to deal with. I just purchased a Throne composting toilet and it's a dream compared to this nightmare! Good luck with that thing when you get tired of all the hassle of that monstrosity take a look at The Throne composting toilet you won't regret it.

I had to go back and rewatch this episode as this is us right now. Deposit down on a van , house about to go on market after 9 years of living in it, change of a vehicle. Emotionally draining and needing some structure. Think the hard part is shutting that door of memories.
