Backpacking 6 days in the Winds
zhlédnutí 446Před 9 měsíci
I went on a 6 day backpacking trip in the Wind River Range of Wyoming in September 2023 with Zach. We started at Elkhart Park, made our way to the Highline Trail, where we headed south to Barnes Lake. Then up the Timico Trail to the Fremont Trail, and north to Bald Mountain Basin, before circling back to the trailhead. It's hard to have a bad experience in the Winds, but this was a great experi...
Sow and bear cubs in the Tetons
zhlédnutí 55Před rokem
We were hiking a trail near Jackson Lake in the Grand Teton National Park in Wyoming when a small cub emerged from the woods just a few yards ahead of us. I immediately knew this was a hazardous situation, and we stopped where we were. Just a second later, another cub emerged onto the trail, and then the sow popped out from the woods behind them. She looked at us and then turned and began to wa...

13 days Packrafting Alaska's Brooks Range
zhlédnutí 2,3KPřed rokem
This is a two week trip we spent paddling on the Alatna River and backpacking in the Arrigetch Peaks of the Brooks Range of Gates of the Arctic National Park in northern Alaska. There is nothing quite as amazing as the solitude and immensity of the Brooks Range, and floating one of its iconic rivers and seeing some its most majestic peaks is a bucket list trip. This is a new edit of a previous ...
The truly remote and beautiful drive from Hanksville to Blanding
zhlédnutí 134Před rokem
I spent a month in Utah in April 2023 (more videos to come), and I needed to wash salt off my truck after I got caught in snow. I was deep in southern Utah, and the closest reliable car wash was in Blanding. My friends back east had a hard time understanding why I needed to drive 100 miles for a car wash, so I thought I would make a video from my dash cam showing how remote and uninhabited this...

12 days packrafting Gates of the Arctic, Alaska, 2022

A backpacking and packrafting trip down the North Fork of the Koyukuk River in the Brooks Range of northern Alaska. We saw a grizzly, moose, and enough grizzly and wolf tracks to last a lifetime. The river tried to drown me, the wind tried to blow us away, and the tussucks tried to break our ankles. You know, it was everything you could want from a northern Alaska adventure. 00:00 - Beginning 0...

Thank you so much for this interesting video. A good trip and amazing nature! I'm just dreaming about it :)
I love the quotes from Bob Marshall you included. Really adds to the video
Who's feet are those at 2:46? Are they dead? haha
That’s me and my toe socks!
How gorgeous how beautiful that landscape is thank you for sharing I’m envious of you
Great Video. Did you enjoy this trip better or the brooks range one. Looking to spend 14 days in Alaska packrafting and just looking for some feedback. Anything would be helpful.
I think I enjoyed the Alatna River better than the Koyukuk. But the Alatna required more boat dragging, and was a little more technical, so it would depend a lot on what you want to do. The Koyukuk was more straightforward as far as just getting on the river and paddling. They’re both great!
Belle aventure. Top
Nice video, do you remember where this was
In the late 80s I was backpacking there. My friend Paul found a perfect clovis point in the intertidal zone, on the sound side. I was so jealous! Instead of keeping it or turning it in for the museum he reburied it. Hopefully, still there. We were well aware that everything is protected from collecting UNLESS its found in the intertidal zone.
Wow. That would be awesome.
I did the same trip, solo, in 2011, all the way to Alakakket. It took 10 days. That was one of the highlights of my life. I neve saw another person the entire trip. Amazing wilderness.
Narration incredible--should be 1.3 million visits here. This trip has been my dream trip.
Aw, thanks! I’m glad you liked it! Go do the trip…it’s amazing.
Greetings from Patagonia. Great adventure you made!
I will be in Patagonia in March for the first time! I’m excited to see that beautiful countryside!
The narration did not distract from the breathtaking scenery. Great video!
Did you not fish in the river? Salmon etc...
Nive video! Natural sounds of water and paddling. Love the gator "guttural" so right! Can hear the birds. Thank you fro not adding music. God bless and safe travels! Enjoy it brother! 🙏🌎🇺🇸
Beautiful shots. I love Cumberland Island but have yet to see a bobcat, dolphins while at Brickhill Bluff, or a gator, how neat!!!
I would really like to go here after seeing this. The Arrigetch peaks look amazing. Also if your looking for more solitude, I had a friend that spent 2 weeks up in wabakimi provincial park in Ontario, and he didn’t see a single person. Great job with the video
I’ll definitely check into that. Thanks!
Nice, always wanted to go here. You do a really good job with these videos.
Thank you! It's definitely a bucket list destination.
The adventures I hope to do someday! Thx for sharing!
Very cool trip
That last mile to the Govt TH requires a high clearance vehicle for sure.
Think I heard those bobcats while camping at hickory hill. Very terrifying noises haha
Yeah, bobcat screams have really scared me before!
Excellent thank you for sharing
Headed there in August for a pack raft. Thx for the effort!
Beautiful footage, looks like you lucked out on weather! Which campsites did you stay at?
Thank you! Yeah, the weather was great this year. I stayed at Hickory Hill, Brickhill Bluff, Yankee Paradise, and Stafford Beach. I think I hit all the backcountry sites on this trip!
Love you your the best uncle ever
I love you!
Beautiful. I'm headed there this Summer. Can't wait.
Thank you! You'll love the trip!
Amazing trip! PS: Pls, share info about Rain Coats in the last episode. Planning long wild trip this summer.
Thank you! My rain jacket is a Patagonia Storm Racer. I like it.
Way cool. I've been in those parts too and had a great experience. My question is how did this video blow up to 34K views while all the rest of yours have in the hundreds? I would like to know the secret ;)
Not a clue. For some reason, YT put it on the front page and suggested it a lot. If I can figure out what I did right, I'll try to do it again!
Fantastic. Must've been amazing!!
I really appreciate the production value in this one, it's inspiring as a content creator myself! Thanks so much for all the candid shots and narration, just a beautiful video.
Thank you!! I’m still trying to learn, but I want to keep at it.
Very nice, love it!
Those are some big tracks. I am not a kayaking expert, but I usually try to stay on slower flowing inner curves.
What do you do for bear protection? Good video
Thank you! We each carried bear spray, and I put a trip wire alarm from packalarm.net around the camp at night. I also carried a .454 Casull, but I don’t think it’s necessary…it just helped us sleep at night!
Just subscribed. Cool trip! Little bit of fishing would have added some goodness
Thank you! We wanted to fish, but that river doesn't have a good reputation for fish, so I didn't want to carry the gear. I think Zach tried to fish a couple of times, but we literally saw nothing. I think the Noatak is the go-to river out there for fishing.
@@OutsideByNature looking forward to checking out some of your other adventures
Pretty cool trip, I just made my first trip video and have gained a new level of appreciation for what you do. Cheers!
Thank you! I’m still trying to learn.
The landing approach seemed rather unsettling
It was nice and smooth…until we got close to the ground! That one jerk to the right was definitely unsettling!
An adventure to remember..greetings from northern Alberta Canada 👍
I would have been scared to death with inflatable rafts instead of canoes, but nice trip and scenery.
Thank you! Those rafts will take a beating!
Well done and appreciate the effort!! Headed to the Arrigetch in August for a 12 day pack rafting trip. I've rafted and backpacked a great deal but never together. Plane is coming in half way through go resupply food and take the rafts etc. Stoked!!
It's an amazing trip! You'll love it!
I'm headed to Arrigetch this summer as well!
Nice trip so far. What beautiful song are you singing along at the start?
I had to ask Rebecca, but she said it was Another New World by the Punch Brothers. I thought it was a great atmosphere listening to her sing while we rested in the Arctic.
@@OutsideByNature lol I just realised it's her singing along. I thought it's just some song playing in the background at first, was wondering why I couldn't find it. Is there any chance you could get her to record the full song? Her voice somehow fits the tune perfectly, I absolutely love it
@@basedgod698 I can certainly ask her!
@@OutsideByNature I could tell that moment was special, truly sublime. The song, her voice in harmony, the nature around. Thanks for sharing with everybody.
@@jrodowens Thank you! That's how I felt, too.
Do you pack a gun?
A beautifully shot and narrated video 👍

I am so glad I found your channel, thanks for commenting back and letting me know about this video. Hopefully I can get there and locate the site of the family members cabin I mentioned. I am pretty sure I know where it is/was along the route you took in this video. Would you mind if I were to contact you someday and ask a few questions?
I’d love to help in any way I can! You can email me at web@outsidebynature.com.
@@OutsideByNature Thank you, I'll get a hold of you when I get serious about planning.
Awesome trip! Hope my friend and I have the courage to act on something similar! This video helps capture the imagination! Thank you!

Beautiful!
