Weathering the Storm: Adobe Brick Test Project at the Desert Research Learning Center
zhlédnutí 153Před 5 lety
Rain can be the enemy of adobe bricks. In national parks of the U.S. Southwest, resource managers need to know what to expect as climate patterns change, potentially increasing the intensity of rainstorms. To help find out, a crew of staff and volunteers built adobe walls and exposed them to rainstorms of different intensities at the Desert Research Learning Center in Tucson, Arizona.

By day, Big Hole National Battlefield is a beautiful landscape evocative of the historical events that took place there. When the sun sets, it takes on new life. Narrated by Tom Rodhouse, an Ecologist with the National Park Service, this video showcases the "cast of characters" that daytime visitors to the park rarely see.

Amen 👏👏👏👏
Thanks for sharing.
That's cool. When was this place originally active?
Anyone got a summary of this video that’s 8-10 sentences long?
Typical government bureaucracy blow all our money monitoring and studying instead of investing in habitat restoration. How about just do something that will help?
Monitoring must occur to create a restoration plan as well as determine the effectiveness of a restoration plan after its implementation. It's only possible to know what to change if you know what is there!
You forgot to mention the king of the Sonoran desert the Jaguar.
Ive seen these foxtail pines along the High Sierra Trail, absolutely stunning trees, very humbling to see how large they can get.
Good video! Thanks
Hell Yeah

Thank you for this SUPERB and interesting educational video. To share it with others, I've saved it to my large Arizona playlist, which is a video tour of much of the state, placing this video in the Tucson/Sonoran Desert section.
