Doing this for library book club tomorrow. Just finished this book and feel like my time was wasted on trifling adult children. I can guarantee I will be the only black person at the dicussion and this pick was not a good Black History month book pick. The writing was annoying at times. And the characters even more so. How did no one get alcohol poisoning by the end of it? Most disliked in order. 1. Temi-petty, disrespectful and projecting her lonliness and need for control. 2. Wife-for allowing herself to be controlled 3. Husband- for not manning up and stooping to their foolishness

Love the review! Just finished reading this book and i was so devastated by the ending.. (Still processing what happened..) I enjoyed reading it but i so agree with you, it is NOT happy book club material LOL The book really had me reflecting on the societal pressures women deal with and i could totally empathise with Efe reading her thoughts on motherhood and the struggles she faced. That part where she first takes Olivia with her on the tube for a day out was heartwrenching.

I need all of them now.
