The bank won’t take responsibility for the value of content in locker. They will be 100 times of your locker rent. What he is saying is .. if you are keeping high value jewels, then you can take insurance from insurance companies where you have to declare the value of the items kept in locker. This value will become the Sum Insured. Now let’s say you have kept Gold worth 8 lakhs. Then you will declare it and they will issue a policy for 8 lakhs for which you will be paying a premium. Currently only very few insurance companies provide this kind of locket insurance and one among them is IFFCO Tokio. So now tomorrow if there is theft or loss due to Act of God perils( Storm, Rains, etc) then you will get 100x of rent from bank and the insurance company with whom you took the policy will pay 8 lakh.
