Thank you for the very informative video. If this trend continues the price will surely come down
Insane that such an amazingly useful plant remained unused simply due to ignorance.
Not on a construction site but at Home Depot. Their waste is criminal. I saw them throw away a pile of 😢brand new ratchets and sockets in the compactor because they were resetting an area of the tool department and didn’t want to deal with the older “BRAND NEW” items. One day they threw away an entire pallet of brand new ceramic tile. I couldn’t even get a straight answer as to why that got thrown away. They are very clear about what will happen to you if you take thrown away items too…..instant termination. One day I suggested that they set up a bargain area so they could at least harvest a little money from throw away items. Nope! Truth is, they just don’t give a crap. My next job was at XPO Logistics where I moved freight from one trailer to another trailer. Same attitude, one day they had an entire brand new undamaged pallet of red oak flooring that got lost in shipping. By the time they had located where it was supposed to ship to the customer had already written it off so rather than sell it to me at a discount they dumpstered it. That supervisor wasn’t even nice about either. “I don’t care, you’re not getting it!” I’ve lost all respect for corporate America!
It a reminder one in and one way out Is old school can remember what store had this. ( Ian go back in time ). My age is 70 plus
How it ages in a humid environment is the principle factor. If it can be sealed against water using a non-toxic, non-flammable, cost-effective sealant. Don't need another MDF time bomb.
Get a fire pit.
that's not wood, that's particle board 😆
Thank you and God Bless you!

Who is the lady holding the clipboard ?
Hemp was about to explode on the market before it's illegalization in 1931. Henry Ford made a car from hemp bioplast and other bio pulp, which ran on hemp oil, was lighter and 10 timers tougher than steel. He envisioned a future where cars and energy would be homegrown in America,. Unfortunately powerful competing industries conspired in outlawing it. The DuPont plastic industry fueled by the Rockefeller oil industry. The media tycoon William Randalf Hearst used his influence to run hit pieces on hemp re-dubbing it 'marijuana', playing on the racial temperaments of the time, of how negro Americans were influencing the youth and young women to it's harmful effects, portrayed also in the film Reefer Madness. What no one was mentioning was that hemp was still essential in the navy and had to then be imported from Asia, where Phillipino supplies were cut off during WW2, hence the propaganda film "Hemp for Victory" was produced to have farmers grow hemp for the war effort. The public unfortunately went very unaware of the useful ressource that had been robbed from them. The hippie movement and it's use of marijuana as a recreational drug for af frivolous lifestyle, has put a lot of stigma on a plant which has always been used since before antiquity, for food, fuel, cordage, medicine. IMO the plant should be totally unregulated like any other plant that grows on the side of the road. Fruit juice when left in a jar for a week produces alcohol, which can make a person drunk. Drunk people measure high in every violent crime statistic. Following the same logic that outlawed hemp, every fruit tree and sugar crop able to produce alcohol should be regulated, given the assumption that every human being is too immoral and incapable of regulating their own use of substances.
It's still not a viable replacement for housing construction lumber.
This is far more important than people realize! You did a great summary of why we have so many in trouble and why we have so many homeless!!😮
Easily be mistaken for stealing. If the builder or workers leave thier tools or equipment on the jobsite, if you are looking around you look suspicious and can get hurt or arrested. Always ask first. Most of the time they're happy that you take as much as you can. As long as THEY tell you what you can take.
I've been talking about hempwood since the 90s... as well as hemp backed currency. The government STILL won't let it be grown in earnest because the states with timber make tons of money for the state off of timber sales and hemp backed currency would destroy the central bank that has a death grip on power.
So, bottom line: How many forests do we need to permanently clear-cut in order to grow enough hemp to meet the lumber demand? The thing about using trees for lumber is that it means we need trees. They have to allow more tree growth if they want trees to cut down later. Switching to hemp means those trees are no longer necessary for lumber and in fact, are in the way of hemp growth. So, how much deforestation are we talking about for this "eco-friendly" alternative?
Well to many thefts ❤
You are out of your ever living mind !
4:00 Same process that lead to the recreational and medical cannabis, also was used to produce the industrial used hemp he uses. That is not how you distance yourself otherwise he would be telling us that now breeding is of the devil and all what we did with cultivated plants or dogs would be bad ^^.
Many state and local governments are unfortunately still hostile to hemp production (South Carolina comes to mind) and many potential farmers are still hesitant to invest in growing it due to this. Change will need to come from the federal level before any serious production has a chance of taking off.
no not that good you have to put energy into making it, dried, pressed, baked and not as good as plywood.
Might be better to use it as plywood. I WOODn't question its use or structural integrity
medium-density fiberboard is nothing new, though - what's the perk of this vs traditional recycled wood mdfs, which are usually bonded with organic agents not containing fermaldehyde?
Well I'm a little confused. I think most of us who shop at HF are DIYers, I doubt if many commercial contractors buy tools or equipment there, so the items we buy for occasional use will last many years or indefinitely, that has been my experience. However I will say that their Predator generator line is superb, these generators actually perform better than many brand generators and perform better than their own specifications. I think HF is primarily a DIY store and have never been disappointed in purchasing any tools or equipment there for occasional home use.
Hemp and Marijuana are two different plants.
What glue they use ? Thanks
Hemp is a very efficient plant. The stock is the herd which I assume is what is used for the wood. The stock skin is what is used for cloth and hemp paper, the seeds give hemp oil ( bio fuel or feed stock for plastics) , hemp hearts (animal feed). The plant grows quickly and without many inputs like fertilizer or herbicides or pesticides. It could also be grown as a rotational crop as part of regenerative farming operation. It is a plant that is stronger than grass and requires more robust equipment. There is a need to develop hemp markets where hemp growers can sell their product. Hemp needs scale. Hemp is more sustainable than what it would replace, cotton, corn and oil.
The way they are making this is no different than how particle boards are made, or mdf wich is same thing but with finer wood chips or wood dust. So i do not understand why the price is so high, but then i don't live in the us. In the configuration they press those fibers i suppose there are many different kinds of plants wich can be used for this, even grass. But i think where hemp would really be as you americans call it, a "game changer" would be to use this in structural aplications. For example i went about 2 weeks ago to buy some timber, pine. I would later cut and refine this to make window frames, stairs and stuff like this. Is just cheaper. And about 40% i would say of the wood there is just bad, is very rare to find a perfect straight beam with no nots in it, or craks. Is very rare to find 10 same beams of wood to be the exact same density, strenght and weight, unless is cut from the same tree. With this process you could build construction frames to be the exact same. In constructions, when they use wood, to compensate for these flaws wich natural wood has, they always use thicker pieces than actually necesary, wich takes up space. If you were to make beams arranging the hemp fibers in one direction for the let's say 85-90% of it and the rest on cross, you would build very tough beams. And they could also press it in a H shape for strenght and less material. Because let's be honest here, that stuff is ugly, compared to natural wood, is just ugly, i would rather prefer the natural aspect of the cheapest wood than that. But structural is very interesting material. As long as they find a way to deal with the humidity. Because timber wich is used in constructions altough is weak and filled with flaws, it has the amaizing ability to retain humidity and release it without destroying itself. Or at least not very fast. To use this product and sell it as a. "the new best thing" and use it as a "design" is just, snob.
Very similar story on the other side of the pond. In April Police recovered thousands of tools of every kind from shipping containers at a site in Swattenden, Kent in England. Discovered because of a tracker on one of them. They had been stolen from all over the south of England. Police recommend engraving identification on your tools, using Smartwater and recording manufacturers serial numbers.
The ones you avoid are the ones that say made in china
Great information 👍 👌 thanks for sharing this! It's very true 😊
It just made it easier to stop using HD and Lowes for getting tools. Most of the material is old and dirty so why buy this stuff. Can’t find anyone to help you anymore and when you do they don’t know about their department.
I truck across the country and it's true; I see huge apartment complexes pooping up around the metro areas
So, its a soy based glue...I'd want to see how interesting the stuff is to ants and other wood eating insects before buying it. Our neighbour's house has soy based foam insulation, and the bugs just LOVE that stuff. Also apparently the soy based insulation on wiring in vehicles is attractive to other vermin who eat the stuff and leave you with short circuits.
This is so sweet and simple! Thank you.😊
i thought of this years ago it’s supper strong grows fast & easy on the environment.
"Genetically Modified"? Im not sure thats the right term. "Selective Cultivation" perhaps.
Is it good enough for framing?
Their theft leads to higher prices for all the other consumers.
hold on, im eating vegan meat... i will watch after a video about plastic steel
The Audio gaps are terrible as headphone User. Topic really interesting
We got weed wood before GTA 6
Tools, guns, valuables stolen. My business loses $250k per quarter. This must stop.
Please remember, that true reason for hemp ban was DuPont lobbying to secure their businesses.
Anything we can do to stop thefts will be appreciated.
Yeah. All those people on the assembly floor look reslly young. Old people just dont want to work anymore. Smh
Amazing!!! This is a fantastic idea!! I’m in need of this sort of wood just scraps and was going to buy!! Thank you! 🏴
old craftsmen used to build bricks for houses with mud and straw.. so basicly we can build whole house with hemp I guess without to many refining
Do they make that in structural beams. Like LVL or paralams?? Whats the deflection rating? Whats its structural strength in relation to standard framing lumber? You didnt answer any questions a person that actually builds houses needs to know about this product.
I have been a HD customer for 20 yrs. If they take steps to avoid getting ripped off, I support their decision. I would not be deterred. I would probably start buying the expensive stuff online and have it delivered; no problem.
