Fun tune RLWK used to do. I wrote & originally recorded it w/ Lowell Fulson. 'Live' we'd do that fake ending 3-4 times in a row. It was always fun watching the crowd stop to clap then get back to boogieing along with us each time. I think one time, we did that about 10 times! Always a crowd pleasah.

I wrote this remembering times spent with Duke Ellington, one of the greatest of all-time, in anything. A very gracious & generous man. The photos are from my days @ Dodge St w/ many friends that participated in the nightly revelry. Some great times & people (both) I remember fondly.

Last album I recorded w/ Mr. King. He graciously gave me a featured solo spot at the end. BB was impressed with Earl Hooker's use of a wah-wah (mid-'70s) and gave it a shot himself. he had very unique take on it, which has been his trademark throughout his career, no matter what he plays. The King!

Ron, what's the story behind the name "The Unusuals"? I notice when BB did the later "B.B. King & Sons Live in Japan" album with Japanese musicians (also a fine record, though not quite as good as this), the first track was called "Theme of Unusual" before they segued into "Blue Monk" (the track you also used as an intro).

The bass playing is unreal. So funky it’s just unbelievable
A true Johnny Guitar Watson classic. Zappa: "I wouldn't say that Gatemouth sounded so blasphemous. Johnny "Guitar Watson" was an extremely evil-sounding guitar player at the time, but the smuttiest one I heard was Guitar Slim [Eddie Jones]... just pure smut. The thing that I liked about the two solos I heard when I was 16 that really intrigued me - the solo on "Three Hours Past Midnight" and the solo on "The Story Of My Life" - was not just the tone of the instrument but the absolute maniac way that he spewed out these notes in a phrase with little or no regard to the rest of the meter or what was going on, but still being aware of where the beat was. He was just yellin' it at you."

Why this album is released in two editions with different track lists? My edition has the "Smoke 'N Fire" and "Mo Chain Smokin'" instead of "Chillin' Out" and "Defrostin'".
