I like the look of the RailPro system. I am thinking of using this with the ESU and Zimo sound decoders that I will fit into my Heljan O Gauge Class 60 models as they are twin motored and are heavy freight locomotives.

Looking forward to Ep.2. I have a couple of Athearn SD40-2s that I'll fit Railpro LM-3S receivers to. I'm ready to follow along.

So you can't use just any DCC locomotive? You have to use RailPro dcc modules?

    • @bowlerguy219

RailPro will run on a dcc layout, even a dc layout but dcc cannot run on a RailPro layout.

Are you still using RailPro? Thinking about making the investment soon. So far, it's the only touch screen system for DCC I've liked the layout of. Thanks.

Looks like a good start, if you have any buildings put them down and look how you can service them. Just SWAG it (Scientific Wild Ass Guess) If you subscribe to model railroader mag on their website, they have a library of track plans look one web google N Scale track plans, look on CZcams, Ebay has track plan books you can buy (Cheap). I'm in the same boat but I don't have any track laid yet. Hope this helps. later Kevin

Theco concept of RailPro is outstanding and it seems to work well, I'm just not happy with the quality of the sound files vs. LokSound. If they get better I may switch someday

Hi, thanks for this introduction to RP. I'm a NCE Power Cab user for the moment but I'm hooked on this system to 'run' trains. I was advised to start using the 'power' from my DCC NCE and just wire up some RP modules in the loco's and run the trains via the computer and the CI-1 usb to see and feel how it works. How is your 'conversion' going - what route do you take ? Advise is most appreciated ! Greetings, Filip

Hey, this is an awesome channel so far. a few things, the item you’re referring to as a “receiver” is better called a “module,” since it has both a receiver and transceiver which it uses. Second, it communicates via radio freq that Ring Engineering has developed, so it does not get interference from other wave lengths, and is not Bluetooth. Looking forward to seeing how the installation goes and how it runs! Cheers.

I've got the same kind of setup but I'm having a horrible time with the sensors. It seem that they act up as soon as I put them in the layout. The first two stopped working entirely so I changed them out and now one works and the other doesn't drop it's analog signal low enough for the code to read it properly.

  • @MikesProjectsandHobbiesMC

Looking good, any progress to report? Told you those Tam Valley switches were cool. :-)

  • @MikesProjectsandHobbiesMC

18" radius will work out. You may have to fiddle with some of the locos couplers to make them work. My Scale Trains GEVO for example, the couper swings out very wide on turns less than and up to 18". That plus the fact that the scale trains coupler hardly moves in the coupler box at all doesn't workout so well. My shorter wheelbase locos like the SD40s and GP9s have no issues at all. What I did to the GEVO was installed KaDee long couplers on it and what I call a buffer car. I picked random cars from my rolling stock and installed a long coupler to one end of them. This designates them as a "buffer car" for the GEVO. When I run the GEVO I pick one of the buffer cars and connect it as the first car (long coupler to long coupler) this allows for much more stable situation in tighter corners. Couplers I have has the best luck with. www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000CHSHWE/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o04_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
