I am considering sonogrpahy as a 2nd career. What is the best way one can avoid the injuries/pain? Should you learn how to scan with both hands, work part time if possible? I plan to only work for about 10 more years. If I remain fit and strong, could I avoid the injuries?

My family has a history of heart problems; therefore, my lady doctor wishes for me to take an ultrasound exam of my heart even though I have no symptoms. With my family history i shall take her advice.

First day on travel jobs, I was asked can u do 15 scans in 8 hrs? Sure no problem. Love the abdominal Doppler exams,or the renal artery exams. How about rule out ovarian ca with Doppler. Joke

I found breast cancer, after a tech raced through the exam and went to get her films. I picked up aorta dissection that another tech missed. Vanishing twin, and abdominal pregnancy , that another tech missed. And how about all the techs who did not want to do endovag, and missed major problems. Joke field., that's why techs get treated with no respect. It tak s many years to get good at all specialties!!!!

Do not do it !! Ct or MRI but never ultrasound. Ultrasound techs are abused to no end! I was a travel tech and was forced to do scans that I had no experience with i.e. Kidney transplants, neonatal heads, pediatric echoes and I could write a book. I should have video taped all those travel jobs from 2000 to 2009. The only way to believe what I saw and experienced would be on tape . My mistake to not video and wear a wire, cause a lot of dr. And techs do not care

Over worked and under paid for 30 yrs. knew more than the radiologists!!!!!
