The Caterham 620r channel - Pete's need for speed is fulfilled these days by Track Days in the UK and Europe driving his Caterham 620r and I'm lucky enough to be his partner and his passenger a lot of the time. Pete raced in his younger days both in Karting and the Caterham series and even though I am biased, he is still an excellent driver in his 60s. Pete prefers to take passengers rather than lapping solo, so you'll see a number of friends and family joining us on Track Days or at the Nordschleife (Nurburgring).
The Caterham 620R has a 2.0 litre engine based on the Ford Duratec which is modified by Caterham and also has a supercharger, 0-60mph is achieved in a quick 2.7 seconds! It develops 314bhp per tonne and as the car only weighs 500kg, hence the model name 620R - approx 620bhp

I love these cars but absolute old school and death traps, a super 7 went under a lorry nearby me. No chance, dude was squished.
The helmets most likely weren’t for safety reasons. You don’t want Flies and other insects hitting your face or your head at 140 Mph.

The Caterham 620R is very fast and there is always a risk with motorsports but we love the adrenaline rush we get from it's performance 😊

In 2020 I didn't have an exterior camera microphone, in our 2022 and 2023 Nurburgring videos the noise is much reduced. Subscribe and take a look 😊 Btw, in the video description I do advise you to turn the sound down...

If a caterham drive looks safe, you are not on the limit ;), also to much movement with his hands on the wheel. He should not be use different grips on the wheel for every corner. You can basicalls have the hands on 9/3 for the complete lap.

@@stephenauty2402 I am driving a Caterham too and i know that this is not on the limit by a lot. Caterhams do not have any electronic aids and if no wheel ever exceeds the limit, you are simply not on the limit. Take a look at hot lapping caterhams or the drivers in the front in caterham races. They are moving a lot.
@@C42ST3N Being "on the limit" means what it says ...very close to crashing , these guys are probably not wanting to do that and the driver has a passenger to take care of , however they are going very fast but in a safe manner and enjoying it immensely I would imagine

This man has really excellent driving technique. He was observing the movement of the vehicle in front of him and overtaking it safely. This is the skill of an experienced driver! Lightweight, high-output sports cars are prone to nervous behaviour at high speeds, but the driver kept the car stable with excellent braking while maintaining a safe trajectory to avoid such dangerous situations. Even more impressive is the agile and precise way in which the Caterham Seven moves. It's amazing how lightweight it is, which allows it to accelerate to another dimension. And because it's lightweight, there's no need for stiff dampers, so there's no bouncing behaviour and it's very supple. I have rediscovered the beauty of a lightweight sports car.

Fantastic drive! How had the 620R ownership experience been? I’ve been reading some horror stories, in particular around the sequential..
We've had no trouble with the Sadev gearbox at all, Pete has changed the clutch set up over this winter to a double plated version though.

Thank you for taking the time to comment 😊 Very sadly Pete and I only get to spend a couple of weekends each year at the Nordschleife and as we are not resident in Germany we don't pay tax there. And as for earnings from You Tube 😂😂😂 tbh, the revenue wouldn't pay for the fuel for a lap in the Caterham... But our channel has a lot of subscribers and we get quite a few views and comments on all our videos, so I guess our content meets our audience's needs and that gives us a smile 😊😊😊

Thr car itself is tiny, to get in the driver's seat Pete has to remove the steering wheel and the car doesn't have any power steering so at slow speed the steering is quite heavy! But the acceleration, road holding and overall performance of this little car is amazing ❤
