Tip for 2014 W212: If you re-solder the smd components, do not use/use carefully isopropanol to clean the flux residues. A small amount of isopropanol dissolved the glue and the plastic popped off from the light body, leaving some cracks to the plastic when it was bending a bit! A horrible job to glue it back! Well, this would be a way to dissassemble the whole light for a proper repair. I'm just wondering would other solvents (windshield washer, car washing solvents, ...) break the glue seam and let water in? You can also cut one wide strip of plastic away to reveal all resistors, not in two parts like here. Also, remove all of the lead free solder with braid and use leaded solder and flux to solder the components back. Lead free and leaded solders do not mix well. Really, remove all of the old solder firts! I also resoldered the LED legs.

Sorry I'm only coming back to you now. I followed your instructions in January 2020 I removed the tail light from my 2014 e220 then my son carefully cut the holes and soldered the connections. We then spot glued the solder using Bondic, checked the light by reconnecting it, removed it again and replaced the cut out plastic and re-glued it with Bondic. You saved me €350 here in Ireland on what is a very common problem. (Note of caution do not cut too deep there are wires near the surface) There are 19 idiots who can't follow basic instructions or are too lazy to do this. Once again thanks again. 😁

No. nothing changes. There is no problem in the wrong component, but in the wrong soldering, which is released after some time and therefore the light is off.
Petr Karas thanks, i did my lights! all is well! if you accept a little advice! i cut only one hole (the one in the shape of a tug) and fixed the right solder, for now everything works fine
