Should work, the Hilti has a red led emitter and infrared reciever, he is using sonoff to switch current via smartphone another circuit maybe led flasher which he replaced the led with an ir led, doing that it will be reset the light. So Hilti implemented two way todo the reset, via the Hilti srt device only sends this IR impulses in a given sequence, it seems blinking in 1s for given time or the Hilti ODA software which you can read and send to the hilti with usb device. It would be cool if i had access to the Hilti ODA software, because i could reverse engineer the protocol they use, so everbody can do the reset with cheap eletronics like the arduino or i could disassemble the hilti board and get the code from the microprocessor, but i don't have a broken board for doing that.
