I have blue and black cased Formula 1 > 381.513/1 < which I purchased back around 1987/88 here in NE Ohio. The original plastic feeling TAG bracelet crapped out rather early and I had trouble even way back then getting an original replacement which also did not last long. This watch is still in very good shape even though I have worn it faithfully (in rotation) with other watches that I own. For instance a Japan Seiko that I bought in 1970 when I was in Vietnam as a GI. I have been researching this model to decided if I should send it out for cleaning and having a new battery put in. I am not sure if it is worth it, how much I should pay, and where to send it? I bought this watch on a recommendation from a Canadian friend and I paid over a hundred dollars for it. She was visiting from Canada and purchased one at the same jewelers because she said it was way cheaper here in USA than where she was from (Ontario). I thought I would just correct a small error you made about Rotary "Swiss made" watches. These do still exist. Rotary are a bit of a schizophrenic company. Owned since 2008 by a Chinese watch conglomerate they still however retain a factory in Switzerland. This factory designs, plans and manufactures the Rotary "Les Originals range" which carries the Swiss Made mark. This range utilize the Sellita sw200 movement as their mainstay engine unlike the rest of Rotary which tend to use Miyota movements. The Swiss watches are the flagship range of Rotary and the price does reflect this but I own one and the quality is much higher. So you can still get a Rotary Swiss Watch. Hope this helps.

Just wanted to point out as I do in this video a few times, we all know as Rolex owners and enthusiasts that this is not an accurate replica of the real thing however, to the average consumer it would be difficult to tell the difference.

Thats a terrible fake, £80 Turkish fake market type terrible. Even mid price fake Daytona's are fully functional. Top end fakes have a 1-1 replica of the gen Rolex 4130 movement minus the free sprung balance. You need a loop and a gen Rolex and a keen eye to spot the watch is fake. Google "clean vs gen 4130 movement" to see a comparison of the movement

1st tell from a long way away is the position of the subdials at 3 and 9 oclock. Their centres should be slightly above (higher up the face) than the centre line of the watch. Very early Daytonas with a Zenith movement were positioned like this fake but those watches are very rare. Second is that its a chronograph, so in its normal state the main second hand should be stationary at 12 o clock. The same subdials (at 3 and 9 oclock) should be stationary too and pointing vertically up. The subdial at 6 o clock is actually the watch's normal second hand. Of all the fakes, these bog standard £60 fake Daytona's are the easiest fake Rolex's to identify.

hmm, thanks to Watch Time for sharing (your knowledge): i'm definitely "an average consumer" when it comes to luxury watches. (a friend of mine gave me - what appears to be - a "hublot big bang watch" after i assisted him with some major house repairs). i liked this watch so much, i spent a year wearing it, thinking it was a "good fake". eventually, one of the straps broke and it stopped ticking. taking it to a watch repairer, he said "thats a nice watch" ... i said yeh, but it's fake right? he said: "its got a serial number..." (this made me wonder...)! he wanted £75 just to change the battery.... (so i walked, although he generously removed the broken strap remnant, to replace that is about £25 according to the repairer... to cut a long story short: i've attempted to validate what i actually have. one jeweller said its a "good fake" but isnt "heavy enough". second jeweller (a specialist called Watches of Switzerland, who i'll name, as they were more friendly and helpful) said: "the real ones are automatic". (when i looked in the window, after getting my watch assessed, most of the dials (on genuine Hublot) indicate "automatic" (which is actually self-winding, according to my father). so when "watch time" mentions: *"hublot would only make a watch of this size [to be] automatic"* i an (now) fairly certain i only have a "good fake". the watch face looks bigger than 33mm (about same size of timepiece "watch time" reviews above). irritatingly, when i measured watch dial diameter it looks like 33 or 34 mm ! on the back, it says "platinum" , but one valuer noticed the gold/or platinum (plating)? has worn off ...slight wear, but another indication i have a "good fake". as far as i can tell, hubot dont make "platinum" watch cases, either. to answer watch times question: *"would i be prepared to pay £20,000 for a real gold hublot, or pay pennies for [a fake[? "* i'm an old school engineer... i've studied john harrison's incredible timepieces (that saved 1000s of lives at sea). i love finely crafted, well-engineered things... in all honesty, if i was insanely rich, yeh, I would buy genuine. but as i pressed my face against "Watches Of Switerland's" well-polished window, like bob cratchett on a day out, i wondered who has the disposable income to buy something labeled £21,000..? :) a boy can dream... thanks for reading: thoughts welcome.

I'd like to know more about their movement., I'm not sure if they use Miyota movement. The watch looks cheap like the large Invicta watches, but I will have to do some digging into the brand as I'm not sure if they are worth £200, they just look like a large piece of metal etc. Going back to Invicta, as much as they do those humongous monstrosities, their automatic divers are well built & house a work horse Seiko movement (NH35A), I'd opt for one of these over a Swan & Edgar. I enjoyed your review & do prefer the less professional videos, as they tend to be more sincere, honest. Thanks

Enjoyed the video. Interesting collection. Not the usual Submariner, Speedmaster and a G-Shock DW 5600, yawn, yawn. The OP 36 is gorgeous. And the second watch is NOT an SKX, by the way. It looks like a modded Seiko 7002 7001, which was the SKX's predecessor, from 1992. Sadly, they're rarely seen without mods these days. ⌚😃🕊

I'm glad you found the one you wanted! I to hope someday I will find one in the wild. I live 1,050 miles from the closest swatch store. So no chance of getting one that way. Great review of the watch that you want, not just jumping on a ban wagon.

Seiko still makes pocket watches. But mostly for railroad workers in Japan. Even modern locomotive engine drivers used pocket watches while driving a train. The locomotives also has a special compartment to display driver’s pocket watches while driving.

I have the ladies version of this. It has a duo tone strap though I've worn it every day from new so reliable. I love it. Mine has the original case, paperwork and receipt. I hope it lasts forever

The very early days of Tag Heuer. The all black and red version was worn by Mel Gibson in first Lethal Weapon film so very iconic. If you delve into the history of Heuer and Tag Heuer you discover that their watches were as ubiquitous as Rolex and Omega in films!
