We're Sean and Julie Chickery, a couple of perpetual nomads, empty nesters, and Air Force veterans who love travel! We're currently traveling full time in our RV and enjoying our version of slow travel, where we take the time to enjoy the local area beyond the typical tourist attractions. We hope you'll share in our mid life travel adventures. Along the way we'll share tips for fun destinations, RV living and DIY maintenance.

Cape Charles Chesapeake Bay KOA (Cape Charles, Virgina)
This fabulous campground is located on Virginia’s Eastern Shore, just north of the Chesapeake Bay Bridge Tunnel. With several types of campsites and cabins plus a ton of amenities, the Cape Charles / Chesapeake Bay KOA has everything you need to relax at the beach. In fact, we had three generations of Chickery's camping at the beach with us and everyone had a blast from the pool and playground for our grandson to the bar and grill for our young adult children, as well as the beach for all. We've already booked our next stay at the Cape Charles Chesapeake Bay KOA.

Best informational video I have ever come across. Very useful, you guys have covered everything. Many thanks.
What are the odds? I’ve got a Cyclone 3010. Not as large as yours was, but still big and on this trip I’m thinking of changing to something smaller like I used to have. I’ve always liked the Arctic Fox chassis because it’s a toyhauler frame and built for more rugged handling. This video is 3 yrs old. Do you still have your Arctic fox? Any regrets or updates? Thanks.,
protect your eyes when you start to loosen the hydraulic lines as one of them is under pressure (3000psi) and you don't want a shot of hydraulic fluid in your eye......when the pressure is released....
Nice Upgrades

Thanks for sharing such useful experience! I think you'll love our Muscle & Joint Pain Relief Cream products and would be a great fit for a partnership. Let's discuss further and send you some products to try out.
Love where im from. I live in the big apple now but i literally think of these places daily
Cape Cantaloupen
Hey, just found you guys and thank you so much for the video. Very informative . We will be coming through Swift Run Gap to stay at Big Meadows. We will need to fill up our 40 gallon water tank for the week and I know it’s at Byrd visitor center from what I’ve read. Is this correct? If so, do you remember which side of the visitor center it is on? We will probably pull in there before we head to our booked campground. I’m having a hard time finding it on a map or satellite image.
Sorry I just saw this. Hope I'm not too late. From what I recall, the potable water fill is by the dump station. You'll turn off Skyline Dive at Byrd Visitors center, then go straight about 1/2 to 1 Mi. to the first right and proceed straight approx 1/4 mi to the utility area on the left.
Instead of putting the camera on you maybe it would be nice if you showed around the spaces!
Sorry you didn’t like the video, but we filmed it that way with a purpose. You can go to Northwood’s website for a 360° tour of the RV and zoom to your heart’s content. We wanted to show specific areas and discuss pros and cons and what we learned about it after spending time in it.
Very pretty place, granted last time I was there was in 1993-ish. Boy, it's quite different from then!
Wow I said C
That is what I thought as well, but after researching 500 miles is correct.
Yea! So Great to see you two doing a little video again!!
Thanks! It’s certainly been awhile, but we’re glad to be back!

I had a seasonal site here in the mid 80's. So close to all things hiking in NH. I didn't spend much time on site as I was always off enjoying Mother Nature. I don't think it was a KOA back then it was just called Broken Branch.
We enjoyed so much great hiking there too. I'd love to go back!
You can now extend your stay
Are you saying you can stay longer than 3 months
I was stationed in Key West 81-85. Had a blast. My barracks was in Truman Annex. We were not allowed to leave the base and go into town without a Buddy.
Thanks so much. Now I have an idea how to use the free app.
Good valuable information.
Pleased with campsite, however hearing the garbage trucks/dumpsters at 7:00 is ridiculous.
Lived in Sigsbee 69-73. Our house was actually where the campground is now. Such great memories there.
Thank yall!
You're welcome! Hope you get a chance to camp at SNP soon!
So you are not using a phone hotspot?
We use Verizon and T-Mobile Hotspots.
Thanks. Watched your video and knocked it out in about an hour.
These are great to rectify high voltage readings that you may get from charger which causes absorption to early.i used on easysolar/multi, connection direct to battery with rj45 back to charger/inverter,it worked a treat, the Bluetooth information is a bonus, because i have a digital multi panel this overides the dongle so i cant change multis/easysolar settings,no biggie so long as the correct voltage is given to unit. The dongle also supports smart networking. I agree having to having to fork out 4 all these extra little knick knacks is getting tiresome.
I'm going to guess that Sean is an Aquarius and Julie is an Aries.
Sorry, wrong on both.
Nice video, what campsite did you have?
Without an RV? Is there lodging on base? Navy lodge?
Yes, this article covers some of the lodging options on Key West in addition to others in Florida. www.poppinsmoke.com/military-beaches-in-florida/
Julie, you have convinced me to give this a try. I downloaded the app and will be keeping an eye out for some locations while out in my Jeep
Hope you have fun with it!
Have you added a hard wired surge protector? And have you considered disk brakes? I like the things you've done. I keep my tools in small storage on exterior door side and have two bins to keep fresh water supplies and second for sewer line items. I don't use the rear bumper. BTW, we use the pantry for a couple things you may want. A toaster and a coffee maker as well as for food storage. Video overlooked pointing out the good storage in the bathroom I believe. That's, of course, as you know, very handy. Our 27-5L is a 2015 model and doesn't have a few of the nice additions your has. Sometimes I have wished we had either a 15K AC in main room or also that second AC in bedroom. We did remove the original love seat recliner and put in a Lazy boy love seat recliner. I need that comfort! :-) I see your door to bedroom swings open away from bedroom. Ours is opposite. Either way, I mounted a teak handle to the stair wall for safety. I'm 83 and my balance isn't what it used to be. :-( The exterior stairs you have didn't work for us as we store in an area where we would not be able to get in to the RV. So we have the original steps and happy with them. Talked too much for know, so I stop here! Happy Camping.:-)
I love hearing about all the different modifications people have made to their campers. We have a portable Progressive EMS instead of the hardwired one. We haven’t thought about disc brakes because the current set up seems to be working fine. I love the heavy duty steps, but I have heard others have the same space limitations as you. We plan to change our recliners out soon for a pullout love seat bed for our grandson. The lack of second sleeping space is my only issue with it.
Thank you for info
You’re welcome
So do I needf to add these components to make my solar work ? Ive been struggling to find out why im not charging the batterys from the MPPT ! Directions to candyhill campground
Downloading the maps is only for pro members that have the annual subscription.
Yeah, unfortunately that is true. I thought I mentioned that in the video.
We used to camp there, but in the overflow area which way back was full of bear
I love seeing bears at SNP, but didn’t see one this year.
Did you guys bring a small washer dryer combo when you lived full time in it?
No, we used the laundry facilities at the campgrounds.
Did you ever have the dreaded frame flex in the upper deck area ?
We haven't had an problems with the fifth wheel. We're not sure what that issue is.
Over many years, my wife and I stayed at Trumbo and Sigsbee many, many times. I know we spent part of our winters in KW, and had a wonderful time. One time, at Trumbo, and lady walked up and said "I see you have Virginia tags." Yes, we said. The lady then said "I'm from a little town in Virginia that you've never heard of. She said: Hopewell. My wife and I laughed as my wife raised her family in Hopewell. My wife and this lady only lived a couple of streets from each other, but never knew each other. What a small world.
That's what we love about the military. It shows you what a small world we live in.
Thank you for this very informative and helpful video! Do the camp stores sell bags of ice coolers?
Yes, they do sell ice.
I've never done this either (about to do the same replacement for the same reason). Are there risks of depressurizing the system or getting air in the lines? Is there a break in (i.e. cycling the jack several times)? The jack comes with zero instructions.
I had the same problem...no instructions. I did not see a break in period. I cycled the jacks a few times (while hooked to the truck) to purge any air out. Technically, it should just be that line that has any air, but I cycled them all.
Saguaro National Park
Love Saguaro!
Thank you so much! I'll be living in a camper this winter due to a home fire. These tips were easy to understand and very helpful! I've really enjoyed the camper life so far.
Glad you found it helpful!
Too bad this model is discontinued
It still shows up on their website. northwoodmfg.com/5th-wheels/arctic-fox-grande-ronde-5th-wheels/ The first option is the 27-5L.
excellent video guys!! Highly appreciate all the useful info. Most campground reviews are very basic, I feel like I’m getting info from a friend rather than a CZcamsr! Will be subscribing !
Glad it was helpful!
Where are good boondocking areas?
The George Washington National Forest has established campgrounds as well as boondocking areas.
Thank you i have to have electric. Sound great but i cannot.
Shenandoah River State Park czcams.com/video/CZ1QAUFqjw8/video.html and Spacious Skies in Luray czcams.com/video/e3HDQBBMvRM/video.html are both good options. The state park has water and electric and Spacious Skies is full hookups. I've included the links for my video reviews.
Good review
Thanks!
This place has been permanently closed since April 2023. Rest in peace LazyDays RV Park and Resort! It was the best and most expensive RV Park and Resort I've ever been to! It was costing me $1500 per month to live there and you could only stay a maximum of 6 months!
What a bummer! I loved the pool and walking around the sales lots. Fort Wilderness is our most expensive campground-$130 a night!
The useless music is annoying! And the lack of information such as wrenches and socket sizes required makes the video rather useless.
Sorry it wasn’t more helpful. This was in the early days of our channel (2018).
@ChickerysTravels I have a cylinder to replace on my fifth wheel and found this video to be VERY helpful. Didn't even notice the background music, was too busy watching and listening to what you said. As to torque values and wrench sizes, I imagine those would be specific to your jack and installation. There are several different sizes of jacks depending of course on the weight of your RV. This was a DIY video, not a Disney + production. Give the guy a break!
@@Mark-nt7hr Thanks for that feedback! When I changed my jack, the only video on anything similar was a farmer who changed a hydraulic jack on some large piece of equipment. I listened to him talk about pigs for the first several minutes of the video but didn't complain because once he got to the point, it was very helpful.
@ChickerysTravels 😆...and you probably learned a little about pigs!
