How to see the Northern Lights in Vancouver, Canada
zhlédnutí 7KPřed 2 lety
I have been fortunate enough to see the northern lights quite a few times in my lifetime, usually further up north or from an airplane. However over the past 6 years I have been able to see them a few times now in Vancouver. So I wanted to share the tools that I use to be able to go and see them when they are out. Here are a few links to the tools that I talked about in the video: Aurora App - ...

I have had this quick release plate for two weeks. It is a GREAT purchase. My ball tripod and ball window mount are back in use with this quick release mount. My gear tripod handles my P1000 with much more stability and efficiency. I love the pictures I get from the P1000 but used it sparingly do to keeping the P1000 locked on my subject and the resulting video shake and picture blur. MY P1000 is back as my principal camera. Thank you, Joel.
As far as I know you don't get any fresh air out of an AC, it just moves it around and makes it cold.
Oh interesting. Even if it's a building wide AC Unit?
@@JoelSchat Yes, there's no fresh air from outside that would be entering the building, otherwise the AC units would be working constantly against the heated air from outside. It would be like driving your car with the AC on and the windows open.
Very nice, but those fumes are going somewhere. If it's just PLA, it's ok, but any of the stronger materials will be a problem for someone
Printing a lot of PETG and PLA right now so I may look into adding filter or two along the exhaust pathway.
I was shocked to learn about the P1S/AMS backlog. I ordered another printer and was told I was lucky since I got the very last printer in stock. I have it going full time now and its one of the best investments I could have ever made.
I bought mine about 10 days into the sale so I am probably a bit further down the line for an AMS!
Hi, What ams riser are you using?
Awesome setup Joel - where is your office located?
Thanks man! I moved to New Westminster and this office is a few blocks from my new place. Right in the middle of New West
Dude can you give me a discount? I'd defnietally buy fo 30
Would this work on the P950 ?
Nope, but I do make a separate mount for the p950 now
@JoelSchat cool, do you have a link ? I purchased the one for my old P1000 which was brilliant but let it go with the camera when I sold it. Very pleased with it 😀
@@birdingnorthdevon amazing I am so glad to hear that! You can get to my shop from here: joelschat.etsy.com and then just click on the P950 listing 👍
@@JoelSchat just ordered 👍
are you gluing your textured plate?
Sometimes I have to ya, most of the time not
@@JoelSchat I had a print come off the textured plate today. Really sucks. I saw this video right after by coincidence.
Awesome video. I think you underestimate the value of your creation. You could easily ask double the current selling price and P1000 owners will still buy... Thanks for the video!
You need a better mic :eyes:
Under your paver put some open cell foam. Thats the type of foam that kitchen sponges or tilers spongers are made from. I got 2 packs of 10 kitchen sponges from a hardware store and put them under the paver. It will isolate vibration from the bench and help with noise even more.
I love my p950 it's a very versatile camera
Where abouts in Florida is this location ? 🤔
I’m new to 3D printing and I just scored the X1C w AMS, love that thing. I’ll stare at it as it plugs away printing, I printed the cutaway jet engine kit, 37 hours printing and a couple hours of dry fitting and assembly.
I use one. Thank you for improving the function if my camera
It appears that Nikon no longer manufactures that type of camera.. :X
Does having a 2nd cabinet effect the heat dissipation? Im thinking of getting one but the noise on these machine is loud apparently.
Found you today, awesome videos. Bought from your shop for my P950. Cheers.
damn that's obnoxious music
Just placed an order! Just back from Yellowstone. My Sony 200-600mm lens is great but not enough reach for some subjects. We played with fellow photogs Digiscopes for video but found them hard to aim and switch from one subject to another subjects. So back to the future and just picked up a P1000, so much easier to use. Video quality is fine for the internet...This will help when tracking an animal on the move.
oh man! so glad u selling these....
i would like buy one
Incredible footage, brother. Can't wait to show this to everyone who missed the light show or didn't have the view that you did. Absolutely spellbinding
Ahhhhh so crazy to see how bright it is in the middle of the city!! Wow. My mind is still blown from this show. Awesome video, Joel! Miss ya friend!
How come you didn’t show the results shooting with the camera outside? Or is this a scam?
Not a scam i ordered the first iteration and it was a real help and couple of months again i got the second iteration and im loving it im using a home made quick release pistol grip. As there isnt any quick release grip out there
Rude!
Mother nature wearing her green and purple dress.
Nice! 😀
We've seen here in Alberta as well. It was phenomenal, magical. I can't stop watching them dancing outside our house too.
Does any of you with the p1000 have any issues with it freezing?
Was this the night of the 10th or 11th?
Night of the 10th, into the morning of the 11th
Truly beautiful!
Wow what wonderful captures! Truely mindblowing 👏☺️
We see the northern lights often here in Edmonton. These were seen even in Germany and Austria. .Thanks for sharing
I ticket this of my bucket list ❤❤
Saving Up to get one ... looks well made and thanks for the excellent engineering to make it 👍👍
I want to buy my first printer , the P1S. As begginer i just want to print PLA becuase i am worry about the microplastics betting to my lungs so encased printer was my first requirement. I have seen other videos where they remove the the glass plate to reduce temperature and improve adhesion. Couplea of questions: 1. Why you installed that AMS riser (exclusing the improve ligthing)? 2. How do you keep your filaments dry? I live in Houston RH about 70% to 90% , i am worry to damage the filaments if not stored properly. 3. Any video on how you builf that enclusure? Thanks Alex
Hi Alex, I have an X1 Carbon and despite the recommendation to open the door or lid when printing PLA I leave mine closed and have never had any issues with heat creep, the noise difference is massive also. Wow I wish a Bambu Lab was my first printer, my first printer in 2011 was a Mendel 90 kit but a colleague at work printed my plastic parts on the industrial machines we had there and later made them from highly polished aluminium, those industrial machines were over £20,000 and no where near as good as the Bambu Lab machines, they were extremely dimensionally accurate though but slow. You can get some reusable silica gel pellets and fine mesh bags and some vacuum bags to store the filaments, this is my method and it works great, to start off with there is a program on the printer that dries your filament but eventually you might be better off with a filament dryer, but made sure your dryer rotates the filament and has an extraction fan to evacuate the moist air.
How do I order it
How do I order it ?
You can order it on Etsy at the link in the description of the video
They want to pay out with a proprietary crypto called "spexi". No thanks, I'll take cash jobs.
Does it work in the Philippines?
Right now it is just in Canada and the US in certain cities but they are expanding
@@JoelSchat worth noting is that the cash reward might not be available in later stages so it might never be possible to earn cash in the phillipines or anywhere outside the areas in the US and Canada. If they do keep the cash reward it will probably relate to how well the captured data sells. They might adjust their pricing to give higher rewards in countries where the data sells for more and in areas that give more value. I doubt you'll be able to make a few thousand a week in the phillipines scooting around on a moped with a backpack full of chargers and batteries, but it would be amazing if the project did do well enough to allow it.
I love the time you put into this and explaining every aspect of it. I got my P1000 a month ago. Love it - but the shake makes me crazy! I ordered this from you as soon as I saw your video and it might arrive today! I cannot wait.
Just received my P1000 and Ordered this quick release plate today. Amazing stuff and appreciate the work.
