The haters are probably people who did not qualify for financing.
3900lbs is about what the R35 Nissan GT-R weighs, so it's no surprise it does a good job masking its weight most of the time, key word being "most". As for the steering feedback, that's been a persistent issue with M cars since they ditched hydraulic steering. You can get things like aftermarket monoball bushings, but to me, it's kind of silly to think that the aftermarket is essentially doing what BMW should have done from the factory.
I got one for my wife (she was previously driving a 2022 Discovery). It really is a great car. When I got mine you could lease it with a $7,500 rebate, and no penalty for buying out lease early. This effectively made it the same price as a similar spec’d TX350 AWD

Very nice vidéo, the analyse and way to present your feeling, very accurate, congratulation. Over all this 3 light sport cars are RVDM (Real Visceral Driving Machine) and I love the 3. From Europe I have a S2000 AP1 Série 2 (2006) , an AP1 with AP2 body/design, with the 9000 rpm/min, no ESP and still the direct throttle cable. For me the best of the 2 words (AP1 vs AP2) To answer your question, for a toy car, for the emotion and considering the roads in France (I have already daily and modern cars + vintage from the '70 cars) the S2000 is my current choice, nevertheless with the area restriction/pollution contraintes I am checking the opportunity for a ND3 with the 2 l. engine /184 cv and the LSD.

the fact that my dream car is the price of a economy car is great
I owned a 2003 s2000 and I love the car, it’s a great drivers car, always fun to wring out, steering transmission is top notch, best I felt in any car. The downsides was it wasn’t a great car to daily, top rattles a lot, small trunk, and it’s a hard suspension (mine was modified), definitely more of a weekend car.

Which had better steering feel between the ND3 and your FRS? I’m also big on steering feel.
I haven’t driven a FRS in a long time. It has much heavier steering than the Miata
Owned,lived with, & tracked all 3. While all are amazing vehicles & more fun than 95% of the cars on the road today, the ND wins hands down. The 86 is a great “do everything” car but if space isn’t an issue the ND does everything better. And the only thing the s2000 has it beat on is that amazing redline & phenomenal induction noise in Vtec.
I have the s2000, I met you at the Kaiju shop. I would go with the Miata and put ohlins on it. There is a guy in japan that tracks both. TarmacMeister. Most valuable thing is to be able to grow with a vehicle. Since it sounds like you are just gonna go straight to moding, it won't be the same. One reason I say go with Miata. But as said in another post, you should consider getting a pure race car. Not a compromised road car used for a track.

If a car is designed to do off-road or occasional off-road, the last thing you want is heavy steering. Lighter steering is better when you are trying to traverse rocky or uneven surfaces because steering feel less wobbly and jarring.
I found my CX30 turbo steering reflects what kinda terrain I am driving on. For light off roading on gravel/little mud the steering is much lighter. Same response in snow. It usually feels heavier on roads and parking lots.

I drove them back to back and could barely notice any difference. What I noticed most was the steering was lighter at lower (parking lot) speeds. 🤷♂️

I have the 2024 CX-50 TPP in terracotta with the softer shocks/retuned electric steering. The steering, braking, handling, shock tuning are all excellent. This is the 4th Mazda I have owned in my life and by far the best. My only gripe is unusually high road noise at highway speeds (ie - faster than posted limits I might add). Also, running 91/93 octane is what this turbo likes. I run 91 + some Lucas octane booster and it runs sweet.
I luv the red paint on the interior of the door of the Mazda. Has an old school vibe. Looks slick but might be hot in the summer time here in Texas. Don't put your arm on the door. Honda S2000 for me.
My 2023 TPP always starts up with key located in the front tray.
