Yes , it really is taking shape nicely now, well done WCA. Nice Zappa reference too 👍
:-) I try to drop a few little 'easter egg' comments to keep people listening
Liking the longer video...coming along nicely now!
Thanks - as you can probably tell, I am not really used to this whole CZcams thing so really rely on viewers comments. I will aim for 10-15 minutes rather than 5 - 6 for the next one. I have just looked at the car in ther dreary rain and seen all I need to do to move forward. Nice comments help keep me motivated.
I really love your project. Combining the two designs is epic. As over all proportions are essential to good car design, i would love to see a view from the side of the whole car.
Me too, but my fame and fortune hasn't paid for a new house yet so I am stuck for space. I will try and get something sorted for the next episode though. Thanks fort he feedback, always appreciated and more comments are welcome.
Fan-bloody-tastic, cock-ups included.
Thank you. It makes all the carbon fibre splinters worth while. They are as painful and metal swarf splinters - but lighter and cooler :-)
Why are you using a 911 for this? Looks like a fun project and you look talented but seems like you are just going to destroy the cars value.
The project is about fun, not money. The original bonnet, wings and bumper are in my loft so can always be refitted if necessary to sell it. You are right that I could have used almost any donor but the 911 seemed to be 'right' to me. I am lucky that I can afford to waste my money like this rather than in other ways but it is never meant to make money. It is Art.
There's a reason car designers do this part out of modeling clay on a scale model of the car
True, but they also have some way of taking the scale model and scaling it up. this is a similar reason that I didn't use CAD as I only have a toy DS and a full size Porsche. I did a number of pencil sketches and it looked okay with the wide front and side vents in front of the wheel arch but when I looked at it in reality it just looked wrong. I guess I have to live wite the tools I have but I agree with the idea that scale models would be easier to change about before building things.
Theres definitely 3d scans of both the porsche and Citroen available! @@classiccarclips3292
Making a porch look like a old Citruen, now I’ve seen it all! That front dont look good with the back, the back is to round! Hope you do some fabricating there to!
The original plan was a full rebody, but when I got a good 997 instead of a knackered 996, I didn't fancy ruining the bits I couldn't unbolt and replace. I know what you mean about the sharp 'beak' on the front but hopefully by raising it and creating a new, different air dam I will get a morte harmonious shape. I really am learning and making it up as I go :-)
Would it be worth getting your hands on a scrap DS wing to use as a point of reference, or even chopping up to blend in to your buck?
I did think about this originally, especially for the headlight, but the DS wing is the wrong length, width, height proportion between the door and wheel arch, wheel arch and bumper and any other dimension you can think of. Plus they are about 4 X the price of even a Porsche wing but thanks for the suggestion.
This design is the weirdest shit ever. Love it. Looking forward to the finished car.
Weird shit I can do. It is normality I struggle with.
Stay positive WCA 👍
@waynekerr5645 thanks. 7am the very next morning and I am working on the headlight support design. 😉
im about to do a big scary paint removal on my mustang to see what the damage is underneath wish me goodluck. also thanks for the update videos, they are great i am learning alot
Good Luck!! Don't be scared about starting with a coarse grit, perhaps 40, to shift the bulk of the material if you are planning to skim and repaint but try not to get to the metal. Once the top stuff has gone, drop to, perhaps, 80 to remove the last bits and get rid of the 40 grit scratches. When you are building it back up with filler and primer then block sand with 80 to get it flat, 120 to get rid of the 80 grit scratches, 180 to get rid of the 120 grit scratches, 240 to get rid of the 180 grit scratches, 400 to get rid of the 240 grit scratches...... Did I mention that sanding takes ages?
@@classiccarclips3292 thank you , appreciate the tips. it is working in my favor that sanding gonna take ages i need to spare up some money for other repairs
@@MexicanBatman Yeah, I know about the money challenges. Saving for an engine rebuild/upgrade to add a bit more torque while trying to fund the consumables like bloody sand paper through my art work NicksArtStuff.com Not enough money, not enough time and too much sanding 🙂
Beginning to look not too crazy.
Sort of, thanks. Remember that this is the plug from which I make the moulds, from which I make the panels that I then have to fit to make the car... :-)
The ever popular ‘coke & hookers’ excuse, well done WCA, it’s getting exciting.
I’ve always had my doubts about you WCA 😂 Keep it up, well done and all that.
Much appreciated
Hey there my friend. Keep up the good work, I’m loving seeing the Citroen immerge from the foam.
Thanks 👍
😂😂😂 love the quote "old fashioned abuse". Keep it up, loving your crazy work. I did mention it on the 9WERKS Radio podcast last week 😊
Thanks - If you want to come down and have a proper look around some time, just let me know. Probably worth waiting until there is more to see than foam and dust though.
I just thought - share a link to that podcast and we can cross promote like the proper social media giants we aspire to be. Then just wait for all that free stuff I was accused of getting to get delivered to my door :-)
Great work WCA. It's actually starting to look, well DSish
Thanks. I think so too. I have spent several hours since then getting the left wing together and am pleased with how it is going. That will be in the next episode along with, hopefully something more than hours of bloody sanding
I thought this was about some covert fascist organisation!
Well done WCA, it’s coming along isn’t it? 👍
Yeah, I am a bit happier now. I have just come in from the dark having spent most of this evening adding more foam and then cutting/ rasping and sanding it back off the other wing. If you want to see a video oif that lot, let me know, otherwise just watch this one again but in a mirror :-)
Don’t despair WCA, you’ll think of something.
Thanks. It is just after all the bloody sanding and filling and then taking a rip saw to cut it up, but this morning I have a cunning plan, I think.
@@classiccarclips3292 Ah you see, a good night’s sleep and all is well.
Great video, thanks! I just removed the opposite one (no fuel door, drivers side on my US car). As you'd expect there were some minor differences, so I have couple notes: 1. Where you had a carbon box I had the windshield fluid tank. If you drain this out before you start, you will end up drier than me. There's a 13mm bolt right at the top of the tank, then it just wiggles out like the box you showed. Same grommet attachments. I was able to keep all the lines and wires attached and get behind it to unbolt the 3x 10mm bolts you show. 2. I was able to get a box-end wrench (spanner) onto your "bastard nut" without taking the radiator off. I brought it in from the back, and got the box-end more or less vertical to sort of pry one side under the end of the bolt, while pulling down on the radiator vent / housing with my other hand. Once it was around the bolt it was captive which was nice. Still a huge pain cause you can only get maybe 1/8 turn each time you put the wrench on it...but I eventually got it. It's not clear whether this method would work on the side with fuel, as it may be obstructed. 3. After I got everything unbolted it was still attached somehow, and it took me quite some time to figure it out, but there was adhesive foam between the tub and fender in the area of the top T30 bolts (left side of your pic at 0:30). Once I figured that out I just got everything else good and loose and then levered it up from the side, then used a utility knife to cut the adhesive the rest of the way. It's not clear to me why they felt this necessary after they already used 1600 torx bolts in that general area.
Great comment, thanks! This will hopefully now help people taking either side off. If you want to see what I am doing watch the teaser (czcams.com/video/PlGSR6w2_hI/video.html) or follow the vlog : czcams.com/video/Q_RImHd5mQI/video.html

Not sure what that means but sorry to see a sad face. If it is a reference to the Citroen SM, I loved the idea but I never really l liked the front end styling as much as the DS
Came from the Porsche uk Facebook page, love this and cant way to see where it goes from here.😎
Hi, thanks for the positive comments. I was really expecting to get flamed by the Porsche purists but the feedback has been mostly positive. Puzzled but positive. There will be more coming soon as the weather is warming up a bit now.
Interesting? It’s incredibly interesting. This is so far from anything I’ve ever undertaken or am likely to undertake that I look forward to every episode. Well done WCA.
Yeah, I am quite interested to see what happens next too 🙂
Keep it up! Loving the project lol. Work faster …. I want to see the end result. I was just wondering why you didn’t just buy the DS light? Or does that defeat the fun?
Every part of an original DS is exactly the wrong size and shape, plus the headlights on a DS are crap and break easy.
Top job WCA, keep at it.
Cheers - I managed toi get out and cut/shape the foam on the wings today so should be so very visible progress in the next episode (hopefully)
Hood luck! I’ll be watching. 😊 As you mentioned, I’m a bit ahead of you with my carbon fiber rebody. www.youtube.com/@shadetreesupercar

Sorry if you watched this the first time. Something weird happened with the audio. ClipChamp struggles with multiple channels and subtitles. Hopefully this is better.
Why does my firewall look broken where yours looks when looking up above the pedal
Because it is broken? Not sure and had to guess without a photo, sorry.
Так а где продолжение ?
Hi all. Apart from the impact wrench! has anyone solved this problem?
I ended up just binning it and buying a proper band saw. It wasn't worth the wasted time, effort and wood.
In my Scheppach HBS261, which looks identical, I changed the two allen key bolts (one above, one below the knob) on which the whole blade guide assembly slides for slightly wider (heads) and it solved the problem perfectly - no more play of the blade guide.
I have Z300S questions! What's the best way to reach you?
I think ?I have emailed you. Please reply so I know it got there
99%of all landrover s are still on the road 1% made it home lol 1
Never buy power tools from aldi as they cut corners.
I keep telling myself - DON'T BUY CHEAP TOOLS. Then I go and buy some cheap crap and complain about it. I am the idiot in this case 😞
For those wondering if there was a solution to the problem: yes. It's in this video czcams.com/video/LZXuzhmda9w/video.html 😄
Just as loud on the highway was your point? Decibel reader will tell you differently, especially in the city.
Hi - I used the decibel reader on my phone and at 40mph on a UK A road it was noisier than my Range Rover. You can hear the road noise etc. My Mercedes CL600 was near silent by comparison but possibly an unfair comparison. Range Rover was accurate and unless you are thrashing the petrol engine or just rolling along in the Leaf then there is little difference. Yes it is quieter at times but still lots of road noise there I assure you.
Just bought an 07 L322 tdv8. Please clean your camera lens 🙈
Ferex/Scheppach ? Cut yards of all manner of wood & had no issues runs as true as its manufactured tolerances allow only problem I had was the blades are useless as per the reviews first job is put tensile steel blades in before using & that machine looks like its from a bad batch as all the vids I've seen give balanced account of the pro & cons
Mate thanks very much for your post. By mentioning Scheppach I was able to find the local supplier for their blades! Bought mine second hand. Thank you.
Got mine a few weeks ago now and it does me for what I need it for, an amateur DIYer, did have one problem with the plastic stop on the inside of the fence being cracked, but to give Aldi their due, they replaced the whole fence within a week. The customer services were quite good. You get what you pay for and in my case it’s fine for my use.
I have mine working now but a replacement blade made a huge difference. As you say, it is adequate for home DIY but as the comments suggest, pretty much everyone has had to fix theirs before it worked properly which is a shame as basic quality control should happen in the factory, not with the customer
Lol love the family commentary
Thanks! You have to find some way of adding a smile to your life after you have bought one of these :-)
Excellent video! Thank you for the tips! My absolute favorite thing was attaching the stirring stick to the drill! Love it!
It is why I love watching other people work. It is amazing what tips and tricks you can pick up
I ended using an impact wrench to hammer tight the fixing bolts on the slider guide. The belt had a big lump where it joined so it thumped the wood as it cut and sounded like a 2-stroke. A new blade sorted that. General feedback seems to be that they are not great quality and you are going to have to do some repairs to get them basically working. There are possibly better cheap band saws out there but I guess it proves the old adage that you should always buy the best tools you can afford
Sent mine back first day. Worn thread on bolt holding side bearing in position and the motor would stall cutting anything thicker than 6mm
I've just got one too, mine doesn't do this but the table is fairly warped. For what it cost I'm going to try to live with it, or make a new one. If you keep it, my bearings are noisy, one of the first comments here says you can fairly cheaply replace them with better, shielded bearings ..... czcams.com/video/o65JpBZoa0s/video.html
Replace the side ones with sealed bearings, not shielded and save the old ones for the thrust bearings. Shielded bearings aren't recommended for use where the bearing outer rotates as the grease can get thrown out. Of course the side bearings shouldn't be rotating at high speed but when I replaced mine with SKF ones I went for sealed.
Assuming I've understood the problem, I had to strip out the upper bearing assembly on mine and slightly slot the hole for the lower socket-head bolt that guides the slide in order to get it to run true to the blade and at right-angles to the table. I also had to use a dead-blow hammer on the lower part of the face it moves on to get it (the slide) to sit properly on it. Cleaned up all the swarf and rough edges before reassembly. Still got to tackle the lower guide assembly I've also filed 2-3mm off the lower door chassis hinges to drop the door slightly and also cut the upper hinge pin down to make getting the door of easier. The safety switch needed a 2mm spacer under it as a result but now the door doesn't foul the table. The upper wheel was clearly off-balance so temporarily it's got 3g of copper wire on one spoke until I've found a more elegant way of balancing it..
