Zumo 2040 Face-Opponent Demo - Following 3pi+ Around the Track
This video shows a Zumo 2040 robot running the face_opponent.py demo as a 3pi+ 2040 robot follows a line around it. The Zumo uses its proximity sensors to locate the closest reflective object (i.e. the 3pi+) and turns to face it. You can find the products in this video at:

When you control two steppers at the same time, what is the black components with text MR600? Where can I find it?
Hi, I need your fastest motor for a line follower that includes encoders. Which do you recommend?
My DRV8834 seems faulty. When measuring the voltage across VMOT and the trimmer, the voltage stayed at 50-60mV despite turning the trimmer. Eventually the trimmer broke off after a few turns Very frustrating
Sorry to hear you are having trouble with your driver. Setting the current limit does not involve any voltage measurements relative to VMOT, so it sounds like you might be probing the wrong pins. As for the broken potentiometer, that can happen if too much force is applied with a tool that is too large. A flat 2mm screw driver generally works best. If you ordered your driver from us, please contact us directly with your order information and we can help you out with a replacement.
Clear, to the point. Thanks
Thank you so much for this it helped a lot
no support for MAC?????!!!!!!
DUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUDE I totally just learned you can connect them!
Superbly clear and informative tutorials that help me get the most out of the components I buy are a big chunk of why I turn to Pololu first for this kind of gear. I'm using that driver in a design right now and was pretty fuzzy on the current-limit/vRef relationship -- not feeling happy and confident about the design. Now, 9:02 later, I'm all over it.
Anyone know what is that white mounting plate/board called? I need one, thanks!
Hi, That's our RP5/Rover expansion plate: www.pololu.com/product/1533 We laser cut them out of 1/8" acrylic. If you are comfortable using a vector graphics editor such as Inkscape or Adobe Illustrator, you might consider designing your own plate customized to your project and having it laser cut with us: www.pololu.com/laser
Cool, thanks! @@pololu
Thank You for probe hint..
what if robot chasis is black? will the sensors still detect well enough?
Objects that are smaller and reflect less IR are harder to detect (that's why we made the Zumo black). The Zumo 2040 can detect another Zumo pretty well at 12 inches away and a black plastic phone handset at 8 inches away. In a mini-sumo competition it might be a good idea to drive around in case your opponent has a particularly stealthy design.

Didn’t work
Very Helpful video. can you tell me how to pronounce Rural?
😆
What mask do you use that sticks to acrylic?
How are the push-fit 3mm D wheels installed? They seem to require a scary amount of force to fit them. Are we supposed to use some sort of tool in the slot which is perpendicular to the flat on the shaft, to open it up a little? I was hoping this video covered that. The motors don't seem to be robust enough to take that kind of force.
Hi, TooSlowTube. The fit for those wheels is supposed to be tight, and they do just press fit on there. There are some instructions for installing that type of wheel on one of our micro metal gearmotors here: czcams.com/video/D6UmjlBW8Ns/video.html

A board with awesome features!
I wish people would make a servo controller for the Orange Pi-5.
Hi, q zorn. What are you looking for beyond what the Maestro has?
You are a genius! This saved me so much time. I have about 200+ pieces I needed to peel and this trick worked really well. I initially tried to peel them using just my nail, but it wasn't working.
Hi, I don´t understand the scaling formula for adjustedPosition and adjustedPressure in the Arduino code. Can´t I use the "map" function"?
Yes, you could probably use the Arduino "map" function to accomplish the same thing. We wrote out the calculations in a more basic form so that they would be clearer to anyone trying to port the code to another platform. If you have any additional questions, please contact our support or post to the forum: forum.pololu.com/
Great Tutorial 🙂👍I am really impressed by the possibilities of the Pololu Maestro controller and I use it to control a complex landing gear. Is the documentation also available online, then my Chrome Browser could easily translate it into German. That would be helpful. Thanks in advance for your support

hi, can the 3pi run on a white line and a black background by changing the software?
Yes, you can use the "readLineWhite()" function from our 3pi+ library to locate a white line on a black surface.
Really clear explanation - no nonsense but covers everything relevant. I wish the other driver chips had been covered too though.
Pololū is polo-lū not po-lo-lu. The stress is on the last vowel. Honolulu is hono-lulu not hana-lulu. Just an FYI.

Hello Pololu, My friend and I have a school project where we want to read our EMG signals, but myoware stopped production with this sensor. Can you help us with an alternative or can we get your sensor (with pay)? thanks for making amazing content ! greets Nils
Hi Nilzie, We don't have any suggestions for a replacement for this board that is in stock. Sparkfun does have an updated version that you can find here: www.sparkfun.com/products/18977 Unfortunately, it looks like they don't have an estimate of when they might have more available.

I am using the DRV8825 driver board with a stepper motor that's rated at 1.5A. I set the VREF to 700mVolts. The stepper motor shakes volilenty without any stepping. So what can be the cause of the shaking?
There are a few possible explanations for behavior like this, but figuring out why that is happening in your specific setup will probably require some troubleshooting. CZcams comments are not a good setting for that kind of discussion, so please consider posting on our forum instead: forum.pololu.com Before you post, please review our support page which has some general troubleshooting advice and recommendations for what you should include in your post when you contact us: www.pololu.com/support

That is awesome!
Can I also ask if my motor has a current rating of 1.68 A and my A4988 driver has a continuos current rating of 1.2 A can i exceed the value to get the stepper motor running at full step?
Unless you take additional steps to keep your driver cool, it will overheat if you exceed its continuous current rating of 1.2A. It is possible your stepper motor will work fine with a 1.2A current limit setting (the 1.68A is just the current you must not exceed when operating it).
Can these same steps be used for the A4988 black editon motor driver?
Yes, these same steps apply to the A4988 black edition.

What power supply is used in this demonstration?
This one: czcams.com/video/-cAjdT6QN_w/video.html
so what happens if you remove the masking from both sides and cut clear acrylic? will it be ok? as i will be spray painting on top
We can remove the masking from the acrylic before cutting your parts if you specify that in your quote request. The acrylic surfaces will likely have noticeable blemishes from the cutting process, but it should be easy to cover with paint.
Okey i have two questions. 1)If my motor is rated 1.5amp, should my curent limit max 0.75 amp since x2 it will be equal to my motor amp. Also if it is that way should i be applying 0.375 amp from my power source
Most motors' ratings are specified per phase (per coil), so if that is the case for your motor, you should also set the driver's current limit to 1.5A. Then, you would want to make sure your power supply's current limit is high enough that it does not limit how much current the driver and motor can draw (they will only draw as much as they need; the supply will not "push" current into the system). If you have any more questions, please post to our forum: forum.pololu.com/
This product had been launched 14 years ago 😵💫, now it must be controlled with a ESP32 at least... Rest in peace 😓
