Does the screen room side seal up with zippers or Velcro? I want to make sure that it seals up for a extra room for the kids.

@@HikinnHammin the exterior. To hold in heat during the winter if I want to use a Mr. Buddy heater. Thanks!
@@OscarGonzalez-fc6ru It's a combination of both. The screen window flaps on both sides and on the door flaps zip down each side of the flap, with velcro strips at the bottom to further secure them. The entry "doorway" flaps also zip together in the middle and are secured with heavy duty velcro to the flooring "tub". I haven't used a Mr. Buddy in mine, but I don't see any issues holding heat less than any other tent. The obvious issues with using any kind of heater in a tent would remain, of course.
@@HikinnHammin thank you for the info that was exactly The information I was looking for. Yeah, I’ve heard of issues about using heaters in tents. I have used my buddy heater in my gazelle T4 with no issues. But thank you again for the information. Thinking about pulling the trigger on the T4 tandem.

I will tell you exactly what happened. It isn't the radio. Its the atmosphere. A simple wire to a ground would have solved the shocking part but I can't see the sky and I would be concerned about lightning. VERY CONCERNED. Kite antenna people deal with this often and a ground is the answer.
Yes, I was sure that was the case at the time of activation and confirmed it later in the video. Early in the video, during the first activation attempt, I was considering all possibilities. I've seen this effect before with permanent installations (usually repeaters).
I thought about grabbing one of these for my kx3 bag, but it turns out that it fits the FT-891 + tuner really well!

The worst thing about the area is if you have to dig in the ground haha - I don't envy you!

Many folks simply do not understand the dangers of HV that are collected by antennas. Many even dismiss it as false, because how can an antenna possibly do anything if its not connected to anything... Just wait and see, or as many of us know the phrase, ( F around and find out!) Many years ago I owned a communications company. I would instruct my guys to Bleed and ground all antennas, PERIOD. I didnt care if it was a TV antenna, a CB antenna, or a longwire, GROUND IT. It WILL, and DOES collect a Static charge that will be in the kV range. It is well more than enough to do harm to you. I got bit myself as a kid in the 70's by a TV antenna is how I learned this, and never ever forgot it. I urge others to not learn this the hard way, and to heed the warnings. That fuzzy tingly feeling is one thing, that zap pop scream is another!

When I open the and took out all the items I found that Icom DID NOT include a desk charger and the ac adapter previously included in the 51a. What is a $3.00 USB c cord that Icom wil sell you for about $13.00. Icom charges $729.00 plus tax with no desk charger and AC adapter. YOU GET THE RADIO, A LEATHER STRAP (THAT WILL PROBABLY GO IN A JUNK DRAWER) AND A USB C CHARGING CABLE AND A MANUAL-WOW!. ICOM, IN MY OPINION CHARGES FOR ALL THE NORMALLY INCLUDED ITEMS WITH AND HT. ICOM .. YOU ARE GREEDY BASTARDS. THE NEXT THING YOU MAY HAVE TO PAY FOR IF YOU PURCHASE A MOBIL OR DESKTOP RADIO IS PROBABLY A MICROPHONE AND THE DC ADAPTER TO POWER YOUR BRAND NEW ICOM RADIO. YESS!!! I GOT SUCKERED .. IT IS DEFINITELY NOT A $729.00 RADIO /HAND HELD.. ICOM YOU ARE GREEDY BASTARDS.ALL I CAN HOPE IS THAT THESE RADIO SIT ON THE DEALERS SHELF AND ROOT. I GOT SCREWED.. DO NOT DO WHAT I DID. IF YOU PUT A DEPOSIT DOWN AT HRO .. GET YOUR MONEY BACK OR AT LEAST BE AWARE OF WHAT IS OR RATHER IS NOT IN THE BOX. RAY / ND9W

If you're talking about the main bag (MBP-10), yes. It's actually a pretty good backpack; the modular inserts work well.

Yep, your body provided the path to ground to bleed of the static charge. Glad you're OK. I've seen static induced sparks jump clean across PL-259's and that takes several KV to happen. Stay safe and DC ground the rig when activating everyone. 73 OM

I'm a huge fan of our T4 Plus (not sure why they dropped the Tandem monicker). Absolutely love it. I'm 6' 2" so don't think the I'd be able to stand up in the T3 Tandem. I'm considering getting a T4 (minus the plus) for when i do solo camping at the lake. Just need to find a way to justify the $$$.
I'm thinking about snagging one of their gazebos next. You're right, though, their products are a little pricey.
@@HikinnHamminWe have the five sided gazebo (that's what confidence us to get the T4 PLUS) and love it too. Only small gripe I have is that the screen netting is so finely woven that it can block the breeze.

That's what I'm using on my FT-891 as well right now. I think the ability for both ops to use a headset and foot switch can make the operation run a little more smoothly.

A simple audio splitter should work for CW keys as well as headphones.

0:50 "In the late Eighties MFJ was known for building quality products"? Nonsense. I bought their 3kW MFJ-989C tuner in 1987, it is by far the worst ham product I have ever bought. Poor workmanship, bad design and not even able to handle 500 watts, let alone 3 kW. That product was total junk Literally. And believe me, cheap it was not; the thing cost me a lot of bucks then. I personally won't shed a single tear to see this company go. By the way - what does MFJ actually stand for? Simple. The "M" stands for "mother". the "J" stands for "junk". I'll leave it to the reader what the "F" stands for....
1 of n does not a trend make and I didn't say there were never duds or instances gear designs having issues. The statement was a general one, not focused on a single purchase of a single product. My experience at that time is what I was speaking of.
