My review of the KTM. Sorry I made a mistake referring to the fork as a Lyric, it is of course a Yari.

Wondering if a used 2017 model is worth buying for less than a quarter of the price
What's the law in NZ regards ebikes. In the EU its crappy 25kph. I can piss faster!!!
Is that restricted to 25kph assist. Tx
Not in New Zealand
Superbe vélo 👍👏
Bike is good but they dont have, perhaps, any spare parts!!
I have the same bike and it's good to have a drive belt with throttle and peddle assist . The wheel hub ebikes aren't as good
I am an older rider with a heart condition. If I want to ride with my younger friends I ride my Creo. I get the exercise I need and my friends don't drop me. If there is a serious headwind I can lead the group. Mostly I use the turbo mode for serious hills. I bought the road version but after trail riding with my wife who doesn't like riding on roads I concluded I needed the gravel tires. With the gravel tires I can jump between trails and road without any drop off in performance.
Me too
(13/Aug/2022-12:01pm🇦🇺EST) How's it going these days?... Do you still ride it ?
(13/Aug/2022-12:08pm🇦🇺EST) - Just looking at your list of video's, It appears you may not have ever riden it regularly. It appears you may be a seller or reviewer ?
HI I have a Hebb ebike that looks just like this bike it has ezee components do you know if there are still parts available I'm looking for a new display
Schon befremdlich.
Thanks. If you don't mind...what is the distance and average grade % of this hill?
so, how did it do?
Seems fine and that is the Active Line and not the Active Line Plus
Hi Barry, great review , do you know what the torque is on your bike? I am been offered a 500 watt cube with a rating of 40nm ,i have a few steep hills around me, but manly flat, i really don't want to pay nearly a £1000 more for 60 nm if i don't really need it, i will not be going great distances ,so i can use full power when needed, i would appreciate your thoughts !
What is the grade on that hill?
"steep"
24.8
Thank you for a great review, especially helpful seeing the difference it made on a hill. You have helped confirm my choice thet this is the bike I want. I’m going to hold off for a bit, the UK government has hinted it may be doing subsidised e-bikes up to a third off RRP in 2021 so I will wait for that 🤞
Great review,I have the ST 2 great bike.
Thanks i’m now convinced. Can I ask what exact model do you have? I am looking at a CUBE KATHMANDU HYBRID ONE 625 EE at present.
Have been trying to get replacement parts to fix the luggage rack and chain guard of my "CUBE Trouring Pro" 2017 model for over 1 year.... had to resort to duct tape, SHAMEFUL considering this is a 2 years old bicycle priced at 800 euros!
Still going ok?
I Have the 272, which is quite similar. I cannot fault it in any way whatsoever, Incredible bike. What you were saying about shifting the Gears one at a time......On mine, I can change at least 4 at a time, due to the fact that the system is so quick and good. On an E-Bike, you change Gear differently anyway.: You let the bike go into gear first before you start to pedal (Unlike an ordinary Shift) So it is no problem at all when it comes to an emergency need for an unexpected climb.
Hey i have the same 272 but i wanna know whats is the size if front shock i wanna upgrade it if i can contact u this will be great thanks
Hi Barry! Did you say the cut off for e bike speed in NZ is 32, in Oz it's only 25 Kph.
Yes, that's right, for most motors. Lots are unlimited or 45km/h. NZ is a better country 🤣
@@electricbazza hhaha for that reason I totally agree mate!😆
Great Video thank you<3
Magical.. how does it stand up all by itself !!
What is the measure and type of the Schwalbe tyres?
I believe 27.5 x 2.25
@@helenHTID thnx
@@nardturbo No prob. I forgot to mention they are Smart Sams.

Nice review Barry. Thoughts on the bike after 9 months? I’m getting more and more obsessed with this bike but it’s not something I can go and buy immediately. Also undecided between the evo and standard version, and between comp and expert models
I don't own it so I can't give long term thoughts.
KTM MACINA KAPOHO 2973, my first and probably last ebike... built to last and endure... serious austrian stuff,,, feels just like skiing to me... 12 speed, traction on the back 27 1/2 wheel, handling on the front 29 wheel, full nice 160 and 150 suspension, 4 piston impressive brakes... bosh electric motor hyper fun and with refine touch for my tired legs and ligaments after decades of competitive skiing... this ebike is sportive enough for safe fun... had this baby for a year... 1500 km.... just love it....old school....elegant... very agile... fun... lots of traction.. stable... long and tall... predictable... gives confidence.. very safe... high quality... feels to me like the best skiing in the rockies or the french alps... enjoy...
Javier Serralta San Martin Does the 54lbs of the bike feel off putting at all?
Turbo mode is great... i go uphil at 25 km h... nice and easy and still do good enough exercise
Motor is a in house design, not from Specialized, but the german car supplier Mahle. Specialized added their software, and they payed for it of course, which is fine. The rest is marketing and sales, which BTW is necessary and cannot be overstated. Considering its existing price point. Not many companies would be able to do that and actually earn money with it.
There are now three different colours available for this bike in NZ and two different battery sizes. We've found that the Thule Easy Fold bike rack works well. Thanks!
I tried one and was not so pleased with the control box on the top tube. I'd rather gave a switch like the Levo Sl has.
Switches are an after market add on. They aren't too expensive.
I have pretty well the same bike. It is great for both road and off road use with those knobby tires. I go through fields and use it in the snow. The tires seem to take almost everything except ice. It can go up quite steep hills in low gear. After about 400 km of use, I notice the the motor housing is starting to come loose a little and at times there is a slight gear grinding sound when going up a steep hill. Also the disc brakes , especially the rear one sometimes makes a clanging sound when applied on a descent. But nothing really serious. On a full battery charge with 500 battery , I've seen the range anywhere from 24 km. on the highest assist level on hilly ground to more than a 100 km. on level ground and a low assist level. The distance changes constantly with terrain and assist level.Battery takes a long time to charge completely from two bars to 5 bars about 5-6 hours. The motor makes a very slight hum. Recommended.
Does it have a built in Cadence and power meter, can I have that data displayed on my Garmin Edge 530/830 or similar units?
Dick Tchairdjian: It does but since I know my cadence intuitively (after riding with a cadence meter for multiple decades) I prefer to set the cadence option up to read, on your Garmin, battery current remaining as a percentage. This is easy to do and is part of Specialized "Mission Control" app.
lazurm I have no idea what you’re trying to say. Will my Garmin be able read and display the Cadence and the Power from the bike. The battery life would be nice too as well as the Di2 battery life and the gears.
lazurm by the way, I don’t want to be using the Mission Control. My phone battery won’t last otherwise. My Garmin battery lasts for many hours.
@@Tchairdjian Sorry for the confusion. The Creo has a power meter but doesn't have a cadence meter [edit: it does have a cadence meter but, via the Mission Control, I've programmed my cadence readout on my Garmin to display battery percentage remaining]. It will not display di2 battery strength but, truly, that is never an issue as the di2 unit itself will warn you when to charge the battery and, at warning, you'll still have lots of subsequent chances to recharge.
lazurm thank you for your response. The Garmin has the ability to display a lot of data... there is no shortage of space. So I’m not worried about replacing the Cadence with battery life. The bike doesn’t come with a Mission Control display and I don’t want to buy one as I already have an expensive Garmin. I just want to use the information generated by the bike displayed on my Garmin. I presume the bike uses ANT+ or Bluetooth to transmit data like Watts/Power to the unit. It’s too bad there’s no built-in Cadence meter but at least I’m hoping the power information from the Power meter can be extracted in addition to the battery charge.
I'm questioning why Specialized is selling an electric bike for the price of an electric motorcycle. Greedy bastards.
cool review! just bought that same model and can,t fault it , please do more reviews!
thanks great review I'm going to order one.
Appreciate your review. I demo'd the Evo just yesterday and rode my normal after work, hilly, mixed-terrain ride along with a few extra side trips to a few steep climbs. I am a Clydesdale and had used about 80% battery in 40 miles and 2000 feet of climbing. Obviously, the weight of the rider and the type of terrain have a lot to do with the range. I used Eco on the flat sections and then Sport and Turbo when it went uphill. I live right along the edge of the foothills in Colorado, so everything westerly is uphill and most of the other directions are rolling until I head home. I really had a good time riding the bike and even at my size, you could feel the motor kicking in once you got back on the pedals. The noise of the motor wasn't annoying, but pronounced enough that you knew when it was assisting you. Also, if you were riding next to another rider, they'd likely hear it as well if they were close. At first glance, they'd likely think it was just another Roubaix or Diverge. I have a Diverge, which they make in numerical sizes and ended up with the Large Creo which was close to the 58 Diverge. The position was a little more aggressive than the Diverge but on the Diverge I had tweaked the cockpit a bit. The marketing slogan is, "It's you, only faster!" My take on riding this type of bike is that I'm working just as hard, I'm just going to be out for more miles. With that said, I'd like to see a little more battery capacity in the internal battery as it would give me more range. I recognize the forthcoming add-on range extender battery would get you closer to 500 watt-hour but take away a bottle. So, given the progression in lithium battery tech, it would be nice if the internal battery were 500 Wh vs the 320 (maybe next year). It would also be nice if one could switch the modes without taking hands off the bar. So, yes, I'd really like to have one--probably the non-Evo model--but the cost right now is a big concern.
Steven Pedder: The motor sound can be greatly diminished during the times that it's heard (usually going uphill at 80-100 RPM in Turbo or Sport mode) by switching to a higher gear and, thus, reducing your cadence to around 60 RPM or slightly lower. This will reduce the sound significantly (not that it's loud) but will also result in a reduction of motor produced wattage efficiency, speeding up the battery use.
Wow very nice... it is all about fun ... and that bike will put a smile 😀 on your face....
What do you think of the colour of the bike? Does it look better in person? All subjective I know. just trying to decide whether it’s this one or the expert and putting wider tyres on the expert. Thanks
I think it looks nice :-)
Is this the chameleon green?
Absolutely brilliant bike
Great review! I'll be using this to trying and convince my 67 year old mum to replace her road bike and MTB. She only uses the MTB on gravel tracks so this would be perfect. My dad has a Levo but she finds eMTBs a bit heavy for her to handle.
Nice review sir👍
Thx for this review. Bought the Cube Hybrid Touring ONE 500 just yesterday and this makes me think i made the right decision. Can't wait for it. It truly felt natural on my test ride. Greets from germany.
I ordered one today, how have you got on with it?
Any problems with this e-bike?
Broken spokes. Rear disc getting loose because bolts are too short (fixed with inserts). Odometer only goes to 9999. Backlight on display. Otherwise it's an awesome bike.
Thanks for the review, appreciate the info
So why wouldn't one choose the stance e+1 ?
We don't get the Stance E+ in New Zealand. But it might suit your purpose.
@@electricbazza So now, a year later, the Stance is available, rode one tday and liked it a lot, on end of summer special price for $4300 at Torpedo 7. Lowest spec for Giant full susp but would suit many peeps I reckon.
Any issues with the rear hubs on any of the bikes? Multiple reports of failing rear hubs on the e-trance.
Haven't heard of any issues with hubs
@@electricbazza Thanks!
I have had an issue with my E-SX, you need to keep the free hub greased and tight so regular check of the free hub, rear axle and chain ring bolts is essential, if you do this you will be fine.
I bought the giant e2 so the the 2017 As for the gearing I changed the 2by 28/36 to 1x 34 front 10speed on rear works much better as 36 front was to high 28 wast of time to low . Like the new 2019 model even more
Have the trace e sx 0 coming next week... can’t wait!
Thanks Barry. Bought one in Manawatu. Mine has a throttle and the front light does automatically turn on when you turn the bike on. Rear light is still manual. Cool review. Thanks for your effort
Only if the light is turned on on top of it. The front light does run from the battery and it will stay lit if its on when battery is turned on. Backlight is manual. I have mine for about 2 weeks now, at 300 miles. I did have a flat first day but I think thats my error not having enough air in tires. Its a great bike and I enjoy riding it to work and home. 40 mile round trip commute.
im about to buy one. have you had a issue with it yet????????????
from where? their website? i have one. your gonna love it!
which model year do you have?
