    • @JasonHelmandollar
      @JasonHelmandollar Před měsícem

      Unfortunately yes the straps are separate. Wow I remember the straps being much cheaper than what they are now. I think it’s one of those is the weight worth the cost and for me at the time it was especially with compared to like the Hennessy hammocks. It is definitely a nice light compact hammock but now all in for $150. I don’t necessarily know if it’s worth it these days.

    • @WeiFinder
      @WeiFinder Před měsícem

      @@JasonHelmandollar They know they're the lightest by a lot so I think they just are taking advantage of that fact. My current Amazon hammock is like 20oz total I believe, about double the packed size, but it's also larger while setup and likely more durable too. 30$ vs 150$ to save a bit of weight while compromising on laying space and durability... That is a very challenging hike, I described it as hanging precariously to the side of a mountain with a bad way down to the river! The campsites are so few and far in between! We also ended up night hiking and so very luckily found a site late at night. Not wanting to backtrack we decided to finish the trail the next day without a real plan. It turned out to be our first hitchhiking experience. Considering we were many road walking miles from our car and having a 90-pound German shepherd with us, it's safe to say we were more than grateful two nice gentlemen let us hop into the back of their truck to get back to the car! It is a gorgeous, wild area of the Gorge and I don't regret one step of it, but I'm glad to say we checked that trail off the list!

    Be very careful not stuffing them too much. I packed a underquilt (DD Hammock Underquilt) into one of my pods and a sleeping bag (Carinthia Defence 1) into another pod. To be fair it wasn't like the was super tight and heavily compressed in the pods, but enough for the seams to slip over time (the UQ was in the pod for a week) before I checked it again preparing for a trip. The seam on the pod containing the UQ the adhesive tape on seam slipped and opened the pod, first I thought the pod had torn open, but it was the tape that "slipped" and it opened. The seam on the pod containing the sleeping bag had started to slip but not so much it had opened, but I can see that it's about to come open and the sides of the seam is sticky of the adhesive. The pods are awesome items to have in your kit and they do a good job distributing your gear and have it sorted in separate pods, the shape of them being the same D shape as the internal of the backpack allows to you utilize every nook and cranny of the bag. But do NOT overfill them. I take full responablity of my mistakes, I'm at fault for messing up my two pods, this is not on Hyperlite. But take it as fait warning. If you need to compress your items, your a compression bag for that and then if it fits into the pod, put it in the pod. The pods are expensive and it sucks to ruin them. I bought 3 large pods, 75€/pcs. So I wasted 150€ on messing two of my pods up like this.
