Whenever there is a piano on youtube review the pianist says “It’s surprisingly similar to a grand piano”. And it’s never true. Although Stenigraebers are definitely great pianos. Speaks the proud owner of one. I think any upright of this size is pretty loud and rich almost regardless of the manufacturer.

A much needed innovation! Do you plan to make this model part of your regular line-up? Until it remains a tailor-made one-off, it will be very costly. I think that so many pianists will welcome a smaller-size keyboard, me included! It will allow us to concentrate on music rather than acrobatics and will be a much safer way to practice, avoiding injuries. Big manufacturers need to be braver, perhaps Steingraeber can become a pioneer! 🙂

Die Umstellung wird einfacher, wenn man systematisch vorgeht. Ich habe im Rahmen des Stretto Piano Festivals 2022 in Stuttgart mit drei Stunden Vorbereitung auf einem Yamaha-Stutzflügel mit einer Laukhuff 6,0"/Oktav-Tastatur konzertiert. Ich habe im Vorfeld systematisch in beiden Händen Oktav- und Dezimgänge gespielt, um mir die neuen Abstände ins Unterbewusstsein einzuschreiben, denn bei den kleinen Intervallen ändert sich nicht viel. Das Risiko, danebenzugreifen, ist bei den großen wesentlich höher. Das Rezept ist aufgegangen und die Aufnahmen am Folgetag können sich sehen und hören lassen. Klar war mein Gehirn noch nicht vollständig umprogrammiert und ich habe unnötig Dezimen arpeggiert, die ich auf der kleineren Tastatur auch hätte direkt greifen können, aber die Entspanntheit der Hände bei der anderen Tastaturbreite war ein Erlebnis für sich. czcams.com/video/0CttSXC9gkg/video.html

Fantastic pianist! Very motivational and a shame to have to listen to such a great demonstration of instrument qualities through a phone rather than in person. I could visually see the differences of ease of execution the pianist described between the two pianos. Neither piano action will improve much over time (perhaps the best in the world for a vertical), but not described is how the characteristic sound of each instrument will change over time. My Sauter's tonal quality continues to change increasing in richness as possibly so will those. Respect for Steingraeber, Sauter and any few other piano builders that remain 100% German made.

Was für ein grauenhaftes Theater. Nehmen wir z.B. "Auf dem Kirchhof" von Brahms. Der Sänger gibt bestenfalls eine Karikatur des Liedes ab. Die Übertreibungen der Diktion und des Ausdrucks sind unerträglich. Nichts kommt von innen. Auch die Intonation ist schlecht und dynamische Vorschriften werden über den Haufen geworfen. Nicht im Ansatz ist ein kohärenter Rhythmus vorhanden. Haben der weltberühmte Begleiter und der junge Sänger überhaupt zusammen geprobt?

I find the concept of this piano fascinating, but I simply don’t understand why people devote themselves to making ugly sounds with it.

I visited here in 2012. It was so great these pianos... I hope same day I’ll buy one of them.

Wagner was writing for a future that was only half available in his own time. He himself was rather enigmatic about it as well. On one hand he pushed for innovation. On the other hand he tended to be suspicious of technology. When approached with Edison's phonograph he had no interest in being recorded. Likewise he still notated for horn as though it had no valves when his music would be impossible to play without valves. I love the 1926 and 1882 models. They sound right. The 1914 sounds a bit weak. Now however the obvious answer is something synthetic that can be used with a live orchestra.

I am following your channel from long time I have checked almost all the videos of the Steingraeber & Shone piano’s from several sources.I love Steingraeber & Shones’s upright piano according to my knowledge I feel it’s a best in the world, Infact I found it’s better than a some of big brand name. I am very couriers to try all the models. Unfortunately in my country we don’t have any dealer. Your grands have become my favourite sounding piano's. Odd they were still using sheet music and needed some one to turn the page. You'd think they would be using tablets or a computer monitor...that there would be an app that could follow along where the player is in the music and turn the page automatically.

Die Sängerin trägt alle Stücke mit ausgeglichener Stimmgebung und hohem musikalischen Niveau vor und vermag es, den Zuhörer inhaltlich zu erreichen und zu berühren. Der Begleiter steht dem in nichts nach und zeigt zudem, dass er ein toller Pianist ist. Hervorragend!!
