Vlog #24 – Fixing A BIG Problem
Today we're fixing the train clearance problem that I found the other day. This quickly devolved into a very large project, but I'm kind of over doing little fixes and opting for complete fixes rather than bandaids. It starts by clearing the corner so I can access the track underneath. At this point I realize that I need to figure out a better way to square and secure my tables, while also providing easier access to that back corner. So we fixed all these problems and got the City Garden plugged in! All the trains now run and clear all supports, AND I have my lighting power solution figured out. Last major project in this area is to redo and light Eldorado, but that's for another day.
I hope it makes sense to put some of these as vlogs. I try to save city updates for when there's actual changes happening, rather than just "upgrades" or fixes... Thanks for watching!

My name is Travis and I'm an AFOL! I've been serious collecting Lego since 2021. I collect a little bit of everything from Star Wars to Fabuland to Pirates to CMFs. My biggest continual project is my city. The city is currently about 112 baseplates and always in constant evolution. When I started out with the city it was 21 baseplates and I never imagined when I started it would grow to this size. My collection has quickly overtaken my office that I now call the Lego Room. My favorite themes are Vidiyo, Dreamzzz, CMFs, Pirates, and anything I can use in my city.

Vlog #23 - Oops... I Started Something Small and 4 Projects Later
zhlédnutí 161Před 2 hodinami
This was unexpected... I really try to film stuff as I'm working on things to give you at least a before and after... but this didn't happen. I was intending to just do a little project to reclaim some bricks for the future tunnel projects... and then it lead to several other things... and one super random project. So hopeful you enjoy this video. The super random project did actually expose an...
Vlog #22 - Powering Up the Lights
zhlédnutí 75Před 4 hodinami
Today we're going just a quick dive into powering all my lighting kits. We go over how I wire everything into power sources and the reasons why I use the power sources that I do. At some point I will probably try to do a more comprehensive Lego lighting video because I've learned so much every time I work on stuff. But today we get the downtown core mostly powered back up and look at some issue...
City Update #26 - Demolition Day!!
zhlédnutí 160Před 7 hodinami
Destroying a lot of things today! It was a little bitter sweet because a bit of this had been with me since the beginning and as with everything, a lot of time went into crafting it. But out with old, in with the new! I'm really excited where this is going, but I need to remember to tell myself its gonna take time again. This was literally an ALL day project. But it turned out well and got to a...
City Update #25 - Making Space for Tracks under the City
zhlédnutí 495Před 9 hodinami
Today is the first part of finding out if what I laid out on the floor, actually works in practice. I am loving where this is going, despite already realizing I'm running out of all kinds of parts... so much for thinking this was gonna be a smooth addition from the inventory! There was a lot that went into making this all work, so sorry for some jump camera work but I wanted to make sure you sa...
City Update #24 - Moving the City Core to its New Place!
zhlédnutí 502Před 12 hodinami
The big projects are starting!! Now that the tables are built, its time to fill them. Up first is moving the governance/entertainment core over 2 baseplates to allow for the Bricklink Designer Program sets, the Old Train Shed and (eventually) Brick Cross. This turned out to be more of a project than I expected, but thats okay! I'm taking this opportunity of complete chaos in the lego room and c...
City Update #23 - Making the Tables for Expansions!
zhlédnutí 106Před 14 hodinami
Big day in the Lego City!! Today we are making what is most likely the final table additions to the city. We're adding a 6x3 baseplate table over on the entertainment/governing district and a 5x3 baseplate table in the middle of the pirate bay. I can't wait to start to fill these new spaces in with all the ideas!! Links here: linktr.ee/_travis_bricks My name is Travis and I'm an AFOL! I've been...

City Update #21-Trying to Solve the Train Problems...
zhlédnutí 733Před 19 hodinami
As mentioned in my last city update... I'm starting to flesh out the details of the expansion. Lego train track is probably one of the most difficult things to work into a city. It takes up SOOOOO much space and sometimes ends in odd intervals. It never works out like you think it should in your head, so I laid it out on the floor and have a pretty good idea of what I'm going to do and its defi...
City Update #20 - A BIG Idea...
zhlédnutí 389Před 21 hodinou
Some big ideas for expansion to max out the size of the Lego city. There's a lot of ideas here that I have no idea how to process or decide where I'm gonna go with this... its a lot. The main points for expansion is the train area and the pirate bay. All of these expansions are driven by sets that I have coming in the next few months. So much of this will be a big undertaking and once the ball ...

City Update #19 - Third Time is the Charm, Right???
zhlédnutí 340Před 14 dny
This weekend has been a little rough... no air conditioning which is why there wasn't a video yesterday. I didn't want to turn off the fans long enough to record a clear audio lol. But maybe the heat induced annoyance created a clairvoyance I might not have had otherwise regarding my problems with the layout! At least that's what I'm gonna tell myself... SO the Lego City layout has changed... a...

City Update #18-Embedding Lego Ninjago Dragon Stone Shrine Set into the City Garden Expansion!
zhlédnutí 131Před 21 dnem
So previously I had shown that I picked up set 71819 Dragon Stone Shrine to put into my City Garden. I've so enjoyed working on this area of the city that this expansion was well worth the rearrange of space. My first attempt at embedding the set into a MILS plate was mediocre at best. It was only attached at 3 studs and was VERY fragile. I am not an expert at building on angles and I'm embrass...

Thanks for sharing this. Testing and finding hiccups like this is part of the process. Its not all stacking bricks. Looking forward to seeing your solution. Keep it up.
nice
Thank you!
that looks good
Thanks!
Did I miss it or is this missing a brig/jail cell? Seems like they'd have at least one pirate waiting to be hanged.
There are two actually. The easiest way to describe where is above each of the waterfalls, because there’s a trap door that they can escape through.
I discovered recently your channel. I love seeing every single detail of the process for your city expansion! And also glad you are uploading everyday! Btw I would have kept the stairs too! Add also more little pine trees on the rockwork!
Thanks for watching! There’s plenty more to come!
Looking good, coming together nicely...and you got a visit from Mr. B!
Thank you!
Looking good!
Thank you!!
Something to keep in mind about the trains is the front car overhang on curves. The modern passenger train engine extends past the track a few studs as it rounds curves so your track layout needs to take that into account. Having the back track that close to your wall might not work.
I definitely run all my stuff before sticking it in place. I think it should be okay because I stick mostly to the L gauge standards. It will never be tight to the wall because I have overhead supports I need to have room for. I was running into all kinds of clearance issues in a different part of the city (that I needed up just removing trains all together from there), so I definitely try to be more aware. I’m more concerned about the clearance needed to make the little S turn coming out from under the city and into the loop back… I hate tunneling on turns… so much space needed and you have to cover so far back into the tunnel so you don’t see the supports.
Coming along nicely, good changes
Thank you!!
I also looked into buying the parts...did not do it because the cost was simply frightening. 2200 pieces, $480, if it was $250 okay, $280?...mmmaybe?...over $300...not a chance. I really want the logging train, but I do not want that useless bridge that is three quarters of the parts. If im paying that sort of money then I need to be using all the set, and that bridge wont take normal track so how can it be used as a train bridge, it cant. I asked Ties25 the designer what the curve is so I could order some, he tells me its R236.............??? I said, "No one makes R236, do they?", he never got back to me and my question was deleted, probably because I told him I thought it was stupid to design a curved rail bridge where no one sells the R236 track you need so you can use it as intended. One day, when I find a suitcase full of cash and diamonds I will buy an Emerald night.
I talked with the head of BDP for a long time at BrickWorld. I think the curve is R152… but don’t quote me on that. But he said there is aftermarket track that works. Also if you remove a few pieces, the bridge will actually straighten out so you could use stock track on it. The designer (and BL) posted a video on instagram using it as is with a little bit of tape to help the transition from track to the tiles.
Looks good
That horrible looking old green train really spoils the look of your nice modern city, why dont you send it to me and I promise you I will certainly without a doubt not use it and put it in the garbage and dispose of it for you. I will even pay for the postage, thats how nice and helpful I am, always thinking of others. Also that Brickcross station does not fit so you may as well send it to me as well to dispose for you, always here to help. Oh, and that trainshed, lets not forget the trainshed, and all those other trains...and some of those buildings.........
LOL. If I didn’t like trains, city building would be so much easier lol. Or if I had unlimited space
On the new section you talked about putting the treehouse and A frame cabin . Don't forget we have the Camping Adventure set coming in Series 3
Oh that’s a great point!! I didn’t even think to reassess BDP sets coming. It wasn’t relevant to me so I kinda forgot haha
Great snag on the train set! And wow…in the preview set. Awesome you get to keep it!
And I honestly would have guessed modular. I’m not sure if I knew about the train or not.
I was very excited about all of it lol
You'll definitely need to expand to the right and probably the left as well, and I would suggest start expanding the width under the window with that section acting as the train yard and some greenery. I like the idea of the city being more of the elevated part, and while it will be a lot of work to fix structure to make the train be able to pass through all of it, with the amount of trains you have I think it would be worth it. Personally, I would have the city and pirates/castle sections be more distinct. I think you could have El Dorado still built into the rock wall of the city as the transition point to castle/pirates, or go the route of making its slightly separated for use at convetions. - Expand everywhere you can to give yourself more footprint - Make a train yard to the right of the city - Elevate the city and allow for the trains to pass underneath - Move the pirate transition to the end of the left section I'm a visual person, so happy to provide the most crude microsoft paint version of what it's my head when thinking about this. Good stuff!
That’s definitely where this is going. Getting the train yard/rails laid out to figure out the spacing is definitely the next step on that side because they always take up waaaay more room than you think, and the track never fits together like it does in your head lol
Dude! That is so awesome. I'm stoked you got a review copy! You totally deserved it and can't wait to see what you do with it. Hit me up if I can help with any parts.
Thanks Stan!
That red torso from right after the cape…Indian chief torso from Western set?
I love the explosion of colors in this lego diorama. The flowers, the trees, the building, the people. I especially love it at the end of the video when the lego diorama lights are on and the room lighting is off. With regular room lighting, the color explosion is a bit too busy in first glance, making it hard for me to focus on anything. But with just the lego diorama lighting, it focuses my eyes to the star of the diorama - the garden. Seeing the flowers, the trees, the building first before the little mini scenes of the people around the area. Great work.
Thank you for the compliment. I appreciate it very much. I’ve really enjoyed adding lighting slowly to all my projects. I think it really adds depth to it.
Would love to see actual sold for price data vs price listings
You mean for some of the eBay listings? Quite a few of the batch before the current program go for about double what they retailed. I would like to see what the cost is to buy just the pieces on some of them. Since they don’t use any exclusive parts, it may be closer to retail to go that route.
Great movie.. lol.. very cool update
Yay, minifigures
Ya know, sometimes I am just happy they are minifigs and I didn’t get scammed. Lol
Noel own one Designer series set: the pursuit of flight. I didn’t mind the electronic directions. The build was pretty natural.
I do almost all builds using electronic directions, but I know some people aren’t a fan.
Woot! Space!!!
if I send you my sig fig, can I be in your brickworld project? :)
Absolutely!
MAIL TIME yay!!!!
I get my two boxes this Saturday! I can't wait.
Is the moving logo on the right new?!? First time I've noticed it, I like it!
Love this series!
I'm glad for the app, it saved loads of money.. plus I did pick up a few extra of those pink space babies.. lol great video
Cool minifigure😊
For vases, I’ve used glass vases or milk bottles with narrow necks. I was also gifted a nice 3D printed vase that is very narrow and works well. Like your water choice too, by the way.
Nice update! The cheese wedges in the water look great, I would go with it. We have the roses and my wife purchased a smaller vase at the dollar store, they look better in the smaller vase.
As a single male, a plethora of vases isn’t exactly something I keep on hand, but I think I need to go looking…. Smaller is good to know. Thanks!
I like the loose cheese wedges in the water. Gonna be hard to get a pirate ship through there though. You could have some trolls under the bridge.
Definitely tear it all down and redesign it to have a larger industrial area, lol.
Ohhh! I like the troll idea! I had thought about maybe a native canoe with some natives going down the river…
For a smaller vase i bought all the parts from the ship in a bottle but left the top off
Oh! I like that idea. Thanks!
Beautiful gardens!
Thank you!!
Sweet update
Thanks for always watching and commenting!
Mate - he's freaking out. Have an awesome day!💥From Fun At Home (Hot Wheels, Lego, Cards, Stamps & collectables)☮
if u stack those 2x1 u can almost 50% more...
I do have this one in my clown collection!
I love it
I can't help but think "Caaaptaaain Caaave Maaan!"
I think the pink trees are outstanding.Beautiful work.
How fun!
Lights always are a pain , but so worth it when done. Great video
i think the pink trees are a great addition and should maybe stay the same. the two different water colors does however look maybe a little off to me
Adding the flower or newspaper stands would give some variety out front. Should be an easy add-on!
Lego needs to create a corner system for this new type of road plate.
Definitely don’t disagree. And I would imagine it would have to look something like this corner too. Or at least this wedge shape rather than a rounded shape, unless they also planned to make tiles that would fit to something of such a large radius.
Yeah Travis! Always rooting for you :)
Appreciate it dude!
@Travisbricks when’s your next whatnot stream? Got those monster fighters👍🏻
Not sure… I also found some more cracks after the fact and it might’ve been on the monster fighter figs…
Nice haul
Black minifigure stands on the shelves, where from? What are the dimensions?
