Glass Tile - I don't even believe it should be a thing! Unfortunately, it's sold and if you're doing tile you're going to run into it. We can only say 'no' so much before we are out of business. We have to give people what they want to a certain extent. We also ultimately take responsibility for these projects, so we ALWAYS follow up with the manufacturer. This video is for the TILERS out there...

Why do tile floors need EXPANSION JOINTS?
Unreal
What’s the tool that measures the water going into the bucket? You guys are awesome!
That's call the collomix aquix! Thanks for being here!
People don’t realize how difficult leveling can be. They just assume we can slap the tile down in a day on a jacked up floor. Thanks for showing and promoting the proper install!
You know! Happy to help and thanks for being here
100%. I don’t trust anyone who “lifts” a tile to make it flush. (I’m a homeowner. Not a tradesman.)
Decades ago if you'd say foam as a tile backer, everyone would laugh. Even now, it almost seems impossible for styrofoam to be used for structural framing. When you see it in action, it's an eye opener. When you consider material inflation it makes sense over wood. (Especially price and stock of the 'Non-Orange' foam alternatives.) It may even be better than wood longevity wise. Time will tell. Foam has obvious efficiency in ease of use, toolwise, install time.
Awesome approach. Wife and I just started a handyman business and we want to focus on Aging In Place which also helps support the handicap folks as well.
Was almost perfect. I thought you were going to be able to close a lid over top of all that
Preach! One day I was cleaning the little front filter of my 2nd floor front loader like I had 100x before, got distracted or something and apparently didn’t screw it back in all the way. I started a load later in the day and the kids yelled up to me that it was “raining in the mudroom.” A plastic pan didn’t do jack. And yes a Servpro truck was involved. Glad to have come across your channel, you know what you’re doing. So many hacks out there.
I go over the Schluter pan with two coats of Hyrdoban. After watching the Tile coach videos I didn’t wanna take any chances. But I may try the ardex on the next one.
Packin’ pans baby 🎉!!!!
How do you adhere it?
Use staples from a Staple gun
Could this have been noticed with a good inspector before purchasing?
A good one could do some deductive reasoning and figure it out, but inspectors are like tradesmen...good ones are few and far between
Great product. I’ll save this
So the Hot wire (blue cable) goes up the wall into the thermostat? I'm assuming you use a conduit, which type do you recommend using? Thanks.
Flexible ent conduit
Panliner is a can of worms. I had to demo my "remodel bathroom" when i purchased my house. It was leaking after 2 years. Run far from tiled floor showers.
^^^You see fellow tilers^^^ this is why we POLICE our trade. This is why we don't like these bums building leak machines in someone's house... The public begins to think it's ALL TILE and look for other options, even though shower pans CAN BE BUILT CORRECTLY AND NOT TO LEAK! BAD TILE HURTS US ALL and I feed 4 kids with this trade! We will not stop calling out the HACKS!
I need to get better on the quickness. Love Ardex
You need someone yelling at you to hurry up lol
Do you ever put a lip stick on a pig and replace a few tiles or do you usually tell the customer it’s a redo? I just saw a total hack job that the guy didn’t finish.….Not even grouted yet. Lippage, schluter sticking out, curb sloped the wrong way, chipped cuts, crooked cuts, hollow tiles etc…. The customer wants me to finish it and make it look nicer. What would you do??
The problem is, as a biz, we touch it we own it, legally (as well as reputationally). You're gonna work on top of someone elses crap work, for a stranger, when legally my company that I've bled, sweat and labored for is on the line. Never! we build it right from the start and maybe homeowners should change their mentality about all this. "It's not what you PAY It's what you GET.

@@HamiltonTileGA Benjamin Franklin - 'The bitterness of poor quality remains long after the sweetness of low price is forgotten.
what if you Panliner up the wall 6 inches then put cement board with a topical waterproof system over the panliner but dont screw in the bottom 6inches of cement board
Panliner and topical shouldn't be mixed.
Im just a dumb trucker i just went with a fabricated fiberglass pan instead. Anything with a panliner is a can of worms.
@rigobertoespinoza1685 thanks for your service out there on the road!
Unfortunately these types of installations are becoming a standard here in the south. I am five hours north of you in a resort town and I see this quite frequently. But the installation last long enough that the installer is off the hook for a warranty. It’s really pathetic
Crash of competence is across the board, imo and it starts with a belief in equality under the law and under God. Which I agree with. But news flash, techniques, methods are not equal.
I got some white thin set on my new tiles too..i hope the vinegar and water works too Ill be back to report. Thanks
Idk if you’ll ever see this but I’m glad I found your page. I saw your pic and you said “how many bums would call that framing good?” Something along those lines and I said to myself “looks good to me”. Keep in mind I’m a month and a half into this. So I’m glad I’m learning to do it the right way and not just going along with everyone else. Subscribed and a supporter of your channel
Thank you thank you. Keep learning.
Setter for over 25 years, never fully trusted Kerdi water proofing. All new production homes in Idaho use Kerdi. I use Kerdifix on the banding where the walls meet the pan. The extra expense is worth the peace of mind.
Yeah, we are doing things completely differently at this point.
Love this! I’ve been thinking how to best achieve plumb and flat walls for years. Thank you!
Thanks for the video. I never knew about rounding the corners for an L-cut and have been tiling for years.
Glad to see someone actually doing it right. I hope you charge a lot.
Subpar tile installation!
Another one! Kris!
What’s the most you guys have had to shim a wall out?
Half inch
When you have to come up with stuff to waste time because you charge by the hour
What kind of epxoy grout are you using? Does it discolor when exposed to sunlight?
Laticrete, no performs wonderfully
Would these work for outdoor use as well?
Yes I use them in the garden
Is the homeowner paying twice? Doesn’t seem worth a demolition
Homeowner hasn't paid the first time apparently
@@HamiltonTileGA does that worry you that your payment might be withheld? I know you guys are pros and probably have much better paperwork than I.
This isn't something we built. We were paid to do an assessment.
Good info. What a large redo
Big re-do
Excellent !
lol prices 😂
I’m in So Cal with a leaking shower and having a harder time than expected finding a great waterproofer and tiler. I checked your website and it’s absolute garbage lol. At least you tried
Amen. Good talk guys!
I’m almost 30 years in and I’ve never been asked why the electrician doesn’t install the cable. Hilarious!
What is that bad boy called
Fk me, looks like a plasterers radio! Keep your tools clean boys!
Haha, that IS clean 😆
What brand laser level is that? Thanks!
I have every tool listed on the blog post in the description.
Can y’all do seamless transitions between wall and tile? (As in they are completely flat). And can y’all make shower nooks without using the metal edge strips??
I think between wall and tile, there's always going to be the thickness of the tile...if Im understanding you correctly. Shower nooks, you can miter the edge but that's not something we really do very often. You can also use bullnose tile edge, which we dont use cuz its dated.
Any yellowing on white epoxy?
Haven't had any problems with yellowing but we did have one that had a PURPLE hue to it. Weird!
When I was a new home owner 12ish years ago, I was far too price-sensitive than I should have been when selecting contractors. We were "that couple" that wanted tile because it looked nice but didn't appreciate the craftsmanship needed for a quality install. Knowing what I know now, I wouldn't have gone cheap on a contractor working on a room with running water in it.
Not just water, but heat, cold, steam/vapors, human body oils, whatever chemistry is in hygiene products...a shower sees the most extreme conditions and it's INSIDE the house.
The carpenter In me would put some screws and stringers on it.
We put a 2x4 at the bottom on the front piece and screw it together...it's 2" "structural" foam, so who knows. Trust me, it's difficult to accept that it is actually strong and it's "just foam" lol we have jumped on em and everything, the videos are out there!
How do you know where to cut the drain pipe?
1/4" per foot lower than the exteriror of the shower pan.
Well done guys!
You guys are great!
Stay on your game! Good job
I DONT USE NEXT DOOR ANYMORE! Bargain hunters!!
