Trap — A Virtual Production Short Film: 7 Environments, 2 Days, Unlimited Creativity
‘Trap’ is a visually stunning short film directed by PIkky Lim, starring Oon Shu An. Produced by X3D Studio, the largest virtual production studio in Southeast Asia, in association with Refinery Media and with support from IMDA, this short film is set in 2080s Singapore where the real world has collapsed and a simulation developer has been trapped by rogue AI.
This thought-provoking short film explores the complex relationship between humans and AI, shot entirely on a Scorpio 45' telescopic crane. Utilising augmented reality (AR) elements and six distinct virtual environments, including a 360º plate, the film also integrates real-time compositing of live footage onto a virtual background. This innovative approach enhances the narrative's depth and visual appeal, seamlessly blending the actor's performances with dynamic, immersive settings. "Trap" leverages cutting-edge technology to deliver a compelling story that challenges our understanding of AI and human interaction.

I am floored! Hoping that one day Sg can make VFX movies that is at least is on par on better than South Korea! Good Job.!!!!!!
I want this job. Enjoying beautiful lancscapes the whole day, typing some code for 5 seconds.
It is scary because it may become a reality sooon! As we push further....
Wow i think you guys are the best at Virtual Production
This is really well done. It definitely holds the tension. Loved the VFX. (There is a strange rendering artifact on two of the buildings at 4:26.)
even with all the technology singapore still produces work that has no soul, depth, any sort of pull to immerse. why?
Virtual production really is the next step in filmmaking. Really excited with how this evolves further, can't wait to actually work in this field
It's an amazing short film, the work of VP is insane❤️ it's can help many virtual production studio and student they can see and learn from it what we can actually achieve 🔥
