Yeah, the first time I watched this, season 3 hadn't come out yet, so I had to wait. It was torture! Lol X)

So, my main takeaway from this episode is the implications it has on when the different timeplanes were introduced. The show opens with (a quote and then) establishing shots of the forest which leads us to the bunker with the murder wall. Only afterward, we are shown the Kahnwald home with the date of June 20th, 2019. People assume that the forest is simply the 2019 forest. But here we learn that it is the future bunker and it might be the future forest that is introduced first. Notice how there is no shot of the power plant before until later in the episode. Maybe that is because the power plant would be destroyed in this version of the woods. Logically, this bunker and future should be 2052, which is 2019+33 (or 1986+66 or 1953+99). Then we see the cyan room in the bunker in that episode, too, which is actuall in 1986. In episode 2, we see how Eric's dead body is dragged through the forest by, what we now know, was middle-aged Helge. This is in 1953. As we now know, the chair opens a sort of portal but the bys are killed in the process. Instead of dragging the bys through the passage in the caves, they disposed of two of them on the 1953 construction site, while Claudia, Tronte, and Peter disposed of Mads. In case of doubt, you might want to look back at the cold open of 1x04. Eric was dragged through the woods on the eve of Nov 5th, and 1x04 depicts the next morning. We see Noah’s exposed back, as he is cleaning the 1953 bunker just as he does later when Yasin is getting disposed of. The dates on the wall mark the arrival of these two boys in 1953. So, in conclusion, all 4 timeplanes were introduced in the first 2 episodes.

Jonas and Helge both jumped 33 years from their normal present not 33 years from the physical year they are in in Jonas's case.

Remember they always travel 33 years, so Jonas is in 2052 now. Very excited for your future reactions!

The year in the end of the episode is 2052.

I love the continuity of these things... you probably missed it but in the first episode, Aleksander talked to Jürgen (Eric's dad) about something he should do but he says the police were watching him. In episode two, we see he is correct, as Ulrich found the drugs of Jürgen and Eric while Aleksander is seen shortly after overseeing some heavy machinery in the woods. Also, in episodes two and three Ulrich was trying to get through a door in the caves. He tried to pry it open with a crowbar in episode 3. Assuming the door must lead onto the premises of the power plant, he later climbed the fence and got caught. In episode 7, we have found out why that did not work. Charlotte had descended down into a part of the cave on the premises of the power plant. She found a scrap of yellow paint from the barrels that were stored there in the 80s. But she also finds a familiar looking door that is welded shut from this side. In this episode we do not only find out that Aleksander had the barrels moved to a truck just in time, but that he was the one who welded the door shut 33 years ago on Claudia's orders. And then the truck is hidden in plain sight close to Bernadette trailer where Charlotte had been just a few days ago. The police have been so close to finding out about the incident at the power plant all season. But this is just one small storyline that is almost not told through dialog at all.

This is definitely an ensemble show. Some characters have more importance to the overall plot but there isn't a main character.

I'm not sure if you recognized, the guy in the wheelchair who turned the power plant over to Claudia is Bernd Doppler, Helge's dad.

Henry Fonda's character was not open-minded. He came into the deliberations committed to acquittal. He said more than once, "It's possible." But "possibility" does not equate to reasonable doubt. I found his character to be a sanctimonious "progressive" who cared more about his own idea of social justice rather than actual justice for the murdered father.

Because nobody said it yet, re Helge's mum at the end of ww2 a lot of women got raped. If they got pregnant because of this, they often couldn't relate to the child. I watched a documentary about the those children. It's very sad.

Sometimes by the casting, you can tell. Yeah, they did an amazing job casting these actors. :) Hannah's the worst! Yes, she is!! She is a true Iago. Love her! X)

Hannah is an interesting character. She's evil, yeah, but even when you think you know who she is, she still can surprise you.

yeah... sadly people keep calling these different years timelines; but that term was coined - for most people by BTTF2 - as an alternating chain of events that verges from one or runs parallel to one; bo and Jantje coined the term timeplane and that is very fitting for mathematical reasons; alternating timelines is also a theory that resolves causal paradoxes; if you take the grandfather paradox for example it is a thought experiment that leads inot the seemingly logical contradiction (the actual paradox) that we assume that all past events need to have a congruent causal chain of events that lead to the present; but if a time traveler could erase their own existence, this causal chain is broken; the theory applies Hugh Everett's many worlds and assume that time travel plays out in an alternate world which means the original present does still exist in its own world; which is actually really problematic given that BTTF actually portrays that this theory is NOT applicable but that the timeline is indeed overwritten; so in BTTF2 their time travel shenanigans do not actually create a verging timeline and definitely doesn't allow them to return to their preferred/original timeline but instead simply overwrites the timeline again and again

I love the scene with Katharina sitting in the hallway. It starts off showing us a lot of the staircase and she seems so lost. The stairs and the coatrack wncourage that idea. She might head out to search for her son and she might go upstairs to find something to keep her occupied but instead she does nothing. Nothing but thinking. While they talk, the camera zooms in as the tension grows. And in the end, Katharina gets up and leaves Ulrich behind. Who is now inbetween up and down, outside and inside. Doing nothing but thinking.

As others said, the story isn't 100% true with Blithe surviving but I liked the way they portrayed fear and how they dealt with it mentally in a multitude of ways.

I think I discovered a continuity issue. Wasn't Ulrich's phone sticking out of the back of his pants when he was attacking Helge? Then young Tannhaus finds it in the coat he left. Did he have two phones?
