It's been a good while since my last upload, been getting back into doing runs since my quick release snapped on my previous rim over 2 months ago. Promised that I would upload a run with the FD, so here it is. Stay (86)tuned for more uploads coming very soon! I would not consider this to be a reflection of peak pace at these conditions, but merely a good reference point/benchmark for the car, ...

Been chasing this pace for almost a month, so I'm very happy to have eventually managed to pull off this lap, as this is also the first time the 86t has broken the 40s barrier. I don't think this run would've been possible without the help and competitive spirit of my long-standing friend and teammate Baba - I'll be looking forward to what he and Dankalf can pull off in the near future. A bit too early to pin down what is/isn't considered good pace, but absolutely enjoying this new rendition of Akina so far, there's a certain thrill from pushing these tightened sections at full pace - not too dissimilar from rally stages. Conditions: Just like last time - conditions are analogous to TL1 Like the time suggests, just a bit faster and less braking all around, can still improve entries on some hairpins but overall this is a time I can be proud of. (until I get a sub 12 of course) Special thanks to Harley for recording the "VHS" cinematics.

Not the fastest run possible, there are mistakes (bumped rail at the beginning of technical section) and it could always be smoother but the pace is getting there. I was heavily inspired by Vegetable Studio's and my friend baba's editing for this run, so if you haven't seen their videos yet check them both out as they make high quality edits. Track conditions are similar to TL1 except for 100% ...

      every time you see his digital tachometer jitter and drop down - it means handbrake button pressed. yes to get this fast you need to put handbrake on a button and smash it a few times every turn. if you want to drive irl - better not to pick this trick as it is a bad habit

    • @ToyotaMotorola
      @ToyotaMotorola Před 3 dny

      @@sxdattxbWhy is it bad irl? Assuming you are in a controlled environment of course. Running at full tilt on a public road is never a good idea (running at all on a public road is a bad idea, but that won't stop some people). I see rally drivers use a bit of hydraulic handbrake in hairpin turns. To be fair they don't know the course that well usually, but they're pretty damn fast

    • @sxdattxb
      @sxdattxb Před 3 dny

      @@ToyotaMotorola using handbrake on a gravel surface is ok but using it so much on a tarmac and on a semi slick tire - is pretty bad for a car and it wont work that way as in ac where you can press handbrake 5 times in one turn just to slow down rear wheels irl its not that stable of a technique. you will need separate handbrake caliper to do this (on a separate hydraulic line) more controllable and irl it may be used only to correct your mistake - for example when you bring too much speed to the corner. and it can be done effectively only if mistake is small and handbrake pull is short

      initially he locks the rear tyres by downshifting into first gear and follows it up with tiny taps of handbrake if he didn’t get the needed andle for the hairpin with the shift lock. As for the acceleration part I’m trying to figure that out too. I believe the right tyre pressures at that point make the difference (should be around 32-33 psi for semislicks I believe) so that makes it easier to accelerate

    Awesome run! One thing i just wanna ask is why is it that you almost never are at 100% brake pressure? I always brake hard into the corners and then trail off but that's very different to what you do and I'm wondering if I'm missing something!

    • @bogdanstojanovic6979

    • @bogdanstojanovic6979
      @bogdanstojanovic6979 Před 8 měsíci

      so basically, he was not using 100% brake but that's why he is trail breaking into almost every corner. lesser brake preassure = longer way to hold brake to the apex = trail braiking = higher degree angle rotation from the wheel = faster will your front of the car face the exist of the apex = so you can faster step on the brake = better/faster exit

    • @weixianng
      @weixianng Před 8 měsíci

      @@bogdanstojanovic6979 Yes I know, but i never lock up even at 100% brake pressure when braking for tight corners at the end of straights. But I get what you mean on your other point, maybe he gets the extra rotation by trailing the brake for longer through the corner

      It really is a case of less = more, you're forced to think of more ways to make cornering efficient, usually developing better entry techniques first, then exit techniques. Despite that, there is little to no theory to it, it's the specific feeling from the FFB when the front tyres scrub the road across a crest and you can simply feel that you've gotten just enough rotation. Thanks for stopping by my video, and I'd like to also personally thank you for creating PK Akina, with the sheer amount of work that was put into painstakingly recreating every detail of the real thing, I can only dream about my own efforts scratching the very surface of what's been done. I am just proud to see how far the envelope has been pushed since Akina 2017 and EK Akina in comparison, and I sincerely hope you guys keep up that great work with all your other projects! ♥️
