I’ve seen enough GE power to last me a lifetime but I won’t pass up a train throttling up out of town. Two AC4400s(one up front and one mid train) haul this monster out of Thief River Falls, MN.

Visiting family on the Brainerd Sub and got a head’s up of this one coming by. BNSF 6288(ES44AC) leads the way, assisted by Montana Rail Link 4315(SD70ACe) and KCS 4758(ES44AC). Shoving on the end as the DPU is NS 4388(AC44C6M).

Took a small road trip today and overestimated the speed a bit. Either way, a trio of SD40-3s bring the train down the CPKC mainline.

A royal mash-up of EMD power switching today for CPKC in Thief River Falls. Two SD60Fs from Northern Plains Railroad join a CPKC SD60-3 and two GP30ECOs to push a large cut of cars into the yard. Not the greatest video as I’m walking to the crossing but enjoy the noise and smoke show.

After missing them the last few weeks I heard a horn and got moving. Was surprised to see this departing in the evening. A SD40-3 for each end of the train and they’re making noise!

GP 20. . Nice locomotives.
A former ex Soo SD 60-3 . .Wondering if it was Soo 6002 .Soo line bought 59 of them back in 1985. Went to the Apple red color in 1986. Half of them SD 60 locomotives had the Apple red white slanted Soo logo. I liked the white and red black SOO logo better, Has been 30 years ago Since Soo line went bankrupt. CP Rial bought back the Soo line. Sand blasted, Repaint the locos to red with CANADIAN PACIFIC , 6000 Aderses 6200 up to 6200. 6300 address on the EMDs
See these locos in North Minneapolis. Have seen them here in Tracy. Nice locomotives
6308. 6306 ex Soo line SD 60 are SD 60-3. Soo line bought those SD 60 locomotives in 1985. 5 SD 60 Ms. in 1989. CEFX. Indiana bought a few of the SD 60 locomotives after the CP Rail bought the Soo line in 1994.

Nice. I live in Tracy. Minnesota. 2 Blocks away from the CPKC. RCPE. See 8 trains a day including the RCPE. BNSF at times come through with trinity hopper cars to Walnut Grove. Watching your video. You do not see to many Soo Line freight cars. Just 3 bay covered hopper cars 72 ft center beam. Auto Rack. Most of the Loco motives are gone. scrap yard. Sand blasted. Red with Canadian Pacific. I have seen the new CPKC On the ES 44 locomotives. Look very nice. 47 Years in Ho scale model railroad. Some of my Soo line EMD SD 60s I custom painted. Put on the Canadian Pacific decals. I'm going to buy more GE ' S 44 locos paint them the CPKC . I Like the black and gold trim slanted at the back of the locomotives. Nice video

Makes sense. They were delayed. Thus the crew change. The crew vehicle I saw at the crossing south of town (Brooks) seemed out of place. A rare sighting. I have no idea where normal crew change locations up there are.
It was a good day for railfanning in Northwest Minnesota yesterday (Sunday). 6 Miles South of Newfolden there was a stopped northbound Oil can string with one locomotive on the head end and 1 on the DPU on the back end. The head end locomotive appeared to not be running. The back end DPU was running. Assuming they had some technical problems. Then, passing through Brooks a southbound manifest was slowly creeping through town. Observed a crew Van a mile South so that must have been a crew change. 2 miles North of Mahnomwn was a northbound manifest on the siding. Would venture to guess that they were waiting on the southbound manifest that had the crew change at Brooks. This one had a caboose with markings indicating a MOW/ Engineering function. On the old NP line between Detroit Lakes and Motley; a BNSF westbound car carrier/intermodal on highway 10 east of Detriot Lakes, a westbound dedicated IM by NewYork Mills, an eastbound manifest at Staples.
Yeah, good amount of traffic. A pickup was struck in Brooks, might have been the train you saw. That caboose was the talk of the railman community up here today.
Well wishes. I am taking my grandkids to see the Holiday Train on Monday. Nice to see a railfan in my neck of the woods.

That's the F-SUPGFD (Superior WI-Grand Forks, ND) if I remember correctly the block of hoppers is full of limestone and or coke from the docks in Duluth bound for the sugar mills in the area.

Hard to believe they use old Geeps on the mainline regularly. Wow. They need paint badly! How many jobs are based out of Fordville?
First time I’ve seen more than one. If they make an appearance they’re usually paired with one of the SD60Fs.
@@MidMinnRailfan Whatever happened to the SD40-2s and Tunnel Motors? Can't believe they bought those covered wagons for branch line service, must have got a good deal scrap rate price on them. I always hated running those, but they are warm in the winter + no snow and iced up walkways.
