US Sugar 148 leads the Caladium Flyer!
On the last weekend of July, the town of Lake Placid hosts the Caladium Festival. A crowd drawing event that features vendors selling various souvenirs, a car show, and train excursions. Recently restored light pacific, FEC 148 is the main motive power for these runs, with one of US Sugar's diesels bringing up the rear for the return to Lake Placid. While short, these excursions provide a good look at a unique part of the USSC/SCFE system.

Though small, the railroad museum is home to a host of operating equipment including two steam locomotives, RGS 20 and D&RGW 491. Durango and Silverton NG Railroad: Photo Charter May 2024

On May 18th, Dak Dillon Photography hosted a photo charter featuring Durango & Silverton's K-36 #480 leading a mock MOW train. The Voice of Flager's Railroad: FEC 148's New 6 Chime

During the month of March, US Sugar loaned a Nathan 6 chime whistle from the Gold Coast Railroad Museum to be restored and put on FEC 148. The whistle sounded a little off at the beginning of the day, but after some minor adjustments the 6-chime sounded nothing short of perfect the rest of the day.
