Keep the desktop audio on in the software so that the audience can hear the true volume, and only mute the mic as a preference or when necessary. There won't be any feedback or echo because the mic won't have any sound from your speakers to detect. The desktop audio simply gets routed from the speakers to the headphones instead. The software won't be affected by this change because it's pulling it from the OS audio track, not duplicating it from the soundcard.

Also because genetically speaking, Yamnaya DNA was barely existant during the creation of Southern European civilization and or the architecture of Ancient Greece and Rome, since BARELY any yamnaya dna admixture is found in Southern Europe during iron age south Europe and classical Antiquity 800 bce to 476 ad (late antiquity, yes more barbarians of Germania started to migrate). And even during the bronze age, only a minimal of 25% was found in Italian penninsula of Yamnaya admixture, which got diluted out by 900 bce. So basically the Yamnaya (stereotypical pale blonde people of Germania) only left a cultural influence of language culture onto south Europe during bronze age but not a significant legacy of any much kind onto south europe that lasted to times of classical antiquity.
