This guy can be frustrating to watch. His best strength is using his size, quickness, and athleticism to attack the basket(though he does need to polish his finishes some more), but he often falls in love with that shitty step-back. He could develop into a decent shooter, but the best version of himself uses that shot to open up driving lanes, where he can make use of his good passing skill or his natural physical gifts. The upside is definitely real, but the unpolished nature of his game means he could very well bust out of the league if he goes to a bad franchise that doesn't develop him properly. He might just go to the Pistons or Wizards and be never seen again, but if he goes to an actual franchise he could turn into something in a few years.

This guy's gonna be in the league for a long time. He has the catch-and-shoot skills you want to see in an off-ball guard, and has good handles and passing to take advantage of openings, especially off the hard closeouts he'll attract. I don't think he's a pure PG, and he wasn't a high-usage guy in college, but his offensive skillset pairs naturally with a more creative lead guard. Size is an issue defensively, and he can be targeted at the point of attack, but his defensive tenacity and elite, disruptive hands can compensate somewhat, as well as make him a dangerous help defender. I think that particular skill gives him enough of a defensive niche to still be useful in spite of that. You may want to pair him with a larger lead guard because of his smaller size. Regardless, his sharpshooting prowess is a coveted skill and he has the right tools to build around that and carve out a lasting niche.

Clingan is super smart and instinctive with disruptive hands. He's an absolutely dominant paint protector who's excellent in a phone booth. In space, he's a lot more exploitable and lacking in foot speed. Sometimes he can make up for it with his smarts and instincts, but most of the time he struggles a lot on the perimeter. The combine results indicating that he's slower and less athletic than Edey are not a fluke, he really does get in a lot of trouble when he has to close out over any kind of distance. His excellent anticipation does somewhat compensate for his lack of foot speed, but to be effective in the NBA he'll need to land on the right team with the right kind of players and defensive system to help him. He's definitely not switchable or scheme-versatile, just a very, very good drop coverage big.

Zach Edey is not a bad defender. He moves his feet well and uses his length well. He doesn't switch much, but he holds up pretty well given his size. There are times when he gets out of position and gets beat by the lob, and you can attack him with pick and pop action, but Edey can close out better than I thought, though he is usually conservative with his closeouts to avoid getting attacked off the dribble. He's way more mobile and switchable than the likes of Brook Lopez, who the Bucks were able to build a championship-level defense with, so I don't get how foot speed is going to be such a crippling flaw for him where he's gonna get played off the floor in the playoffs. Yeah, he is going to primarily be a drop coverage big, and a team is going to need to put quality perimeter defenders around him to fight over screens, but that was also true for the Bucks and Nuggets to win their titles with primarily drop coverage bigs. And that's not even counting all the other things he does well offensively and as a rebounder. I don't see any reason why he shouldn't go in the lottery.

No clue what an NBA GM would see in him this stage of his career. Not really athletic at all, not a great dribbler or passer. Decent rebounder and spot up shooter I suppose.
