I Apologize in advance for the technical jargon used in this video... This video was requested by @nancyracies8824 last week and I finally got around to mowing the yard again and make this short and sweet video to show how to put the grass catcher / leaf catcher bag on the Kobalt 40 Volt Gen 4 Mower. Hope this helps.

    I have an issue, I installed mine yesterday and when releasing the refrigerant there was a pretty bad leak and I took way too long to close it up, about 30 seconds. A lot of refrigerant was lost in that time, the lower valve seems to still release refrigerant unlike the top one. It’s not blowing cold air now. can it still work with one valve or is it possible most of the refrigerant leaked out and thats why its not cooling ? Also I’ve heard people say close the valve after a few seconds of releasing gas and seen others who don’t, does it matter ?

    • @TwoAcreHomestead
      @TwoAcreHomestead Před 8 dny

      Do Not Run The System. You will damage the compressor if you are running with that much freon missing. 30 seconds is enough time to leak almost all of the freon. Call a local HVAC tech and have them recharge your system. Also, you need to leave the valves open after releasing the freon, running with either valve closed will damage your system.

    • @TwoAcreHomestead
      @TwoAcreHomestead Před 23 dny

      The well is very deep, and yes its for drinking and watering the garden. We are on public water also, this well is just for 'emergency backup'. The well was abandoned for about 60 years, and a layer of rust built up on the steel casing, a lot of the rust has been flushed out, and the 'marble torpedo' (see video) is doing its job to prevent more from happening. This video was very early on in the well project, I now let it run for about 15 minutes to ensure the water is coming out clean, it was taking over 45 minutes when I first got the pump working. The pump is only about 75 deep in a 400 foot well, its a cheap 12 volt pump that is only rated for 100 foot of lift, eventually I'll drop a better pump down there. I have a full Well Project playlist if you are interested in seeing more.

    I have really liked mine (same model as yours), but now that it is 100 degrees outside, it keeps overheating and shutting down. The batteries show plenty of charge left. Normally, I'd just wait until the temps drop, but they're not going to, and i have to go out of town, so my lawn will be a jungle if I don't cut it. Never had this issue with a gas mower.

    • @TwoAcreHomestead
      @TwoAcreHomestead Před měsícem

      I haven't had that problem, but I've also not been motivated enough to mow the yard in 100 degree temps. High 80's to low 90's is about as hot as I've used this mower. I have noticed a pretty hot battery when doing hard mowing in high temps, but it never shut down. Have you tried swapping batteries, letting one cool down while you use a second one? My guess would be the battery is overheating and not the motor, but that's just a guess. Other than mowing at night, not sure what else to suggest. Let me know if you find a solution. Thanks for the info.

      I'd love to make this channel a viable source of income, but $40 a month in ad revenue isn't going to get me thru the summer. Plus being a one person operated channel has it's challenges. During my month off I was to busy working on projects that had been stacking up to even do many videos. Finally replaced the bad wheel bearing, rotor and brake caliper in the Dodge, wired up new LED, lights for the garage, finished off the bathroom / laundry room 'remodel', and basically a lot of not video worthy drudge work that had been piling up. We've had two 5 gallon buckets sitting on our kitchen table for about 5 years catching drips, recently water started coming thru above the cabinets near the fridge and starting causing significant damage. Seeing how there was no way I was going to save enough working at 'CHS' to get a new roof, the only option was to cash in the 401k, and the only way to do that was to quit. Over 55 so no 10% penalty, but Fidelity took over $6500 in taxes which I should be able to recover next spring. That left about 20k to become 'Debt Free' and get the roof done. At least I can now take a lower stress job for less pay, and still have more cash left at the end of the month than I did before. Great hearing from you again, hope all is well, eb

    • @TwoAcreHomestead
      @TwoAcreHomestead Před měsícem

      I'm not an expert in plastics or barrels. My concern with this one was the ability to clean all of the chemical that it held properly so I wouldn't poison my chickens. I ended up buying a Rubbermaid Brute food safe trash can for the project. I would assume that the white translucent barrels are less UV blocking than the blue ones. For the plastic they are made of, there is a code stamp that looks like a recycling symbol with a number in the middle that can be used to look up what materiel the barrel is made of.

      So far the pump has been working great. The flow rate is about 1.25 GPM (fills a 5 gallon bucket in about 4 minutes). All my issues have been with the water quality out of the old well, the pump simply works and hasn't been an issue at all. Not sure if you watched the rest of 'the series' of these videos, but I'm currently set up to run this 12v DC pump with either 40v Kobalt Batteries using a Step down converter, or off of 120v AC using a different power supply adapter. Power use on startup is a bit under 7 amps, once its running it stays at about 2 amps. Pump is on a 7.5 amp fuse to protect the batteries. Been planning on adding solar to the mix but haven't gotten there yet. Currently have about 250 gallons stored in an IBC tote for emergency use. Let me know if you have any other questions, eb

    i have a ? im adding a mini split to my house which currently has central a/c here in south Florida. I want to use as a helper unit for summer and hurricanes. I was told i could tapped into my current a/C's disconnect box is that true? my a/c buddy told me he does it but not sure. i dont really want a bunch of boxes on my wall ya know.

    • @TwoAcreHomestead
      @TwoAcreHomestead Před měsícem

      Firstly, I am not an HVAC professional, and I don't know what the code requirements are in your area. If you were to use the same disconnect box, then you would be disconnecting/connecting both systems at the same time, so if one fails or needs service, you would not have the other one available as a back up. Also, the mini split will not have the same amp rating as your main system, this presents a couple of problems... One: you will not have fuse protection for your mini split, It will likely require a 20 amp breaker, and if you are using a 40 amp disconnect, there is no protection for the wiring to the mini split, this is a fire hazard. Two: The combined amperage of both systems may overload your existing breaker, causing it to trip. I would STRONGLY Recommend that each system be on its own disconnect box, and I'm pretty sure your local electrical codes will also require this.

    • @tylermulkey330

      @@TwoAcreHomestead Ok great thanks for the information bud. I think i will get its own disconnect then. Will i be able to get power or tap from this disconnect box. cuz i dont have anymore room either in my main panel?

    • @TwoAcreHomestead
      @TwoAcreHomestead Před měsícem

      If you tap power from the existing disconnect box, then you will run into the same possible overload problem described in Problem Two above. If your panel box is full, best bet would be to install a SubPanel off of your main panel that can handle your current system plus the system you are going to install, I'd guess 60 amp would be enough, but without seeing whats there, that is only a guess. You would remove your existing AC breaker from your current panel, replace with a 60 amp breaker, Run 4 AWG wire from the 60 amp breaker to the Sub Panel, then install the 2 breakers for your AC systems in that panel, I'm Assuming it would be a 40 Amp and a 20 Amp double pole, but I can't see what you currently have. If your not familiar with doing electrical work, please consult with a local electrician. Saving a hundred bucks isn't worth burning down your house. Hope this helps, eb

    • @TwoAcreHomestead
      @TwoAcreHomestead Před 2 měsíci

      Since making this video I have changed over to using nipples instead of cups, took the chickens a bit of training to get them to use nipples, but once one of them figured it out, the rest caught on quickly, and now there is no cleaning required. For these cups, the best way i found to clean them was to turn them 1/4 turn to dump out the water, then use a paper towel to wipe them down and use the water flow of the cup to rinse them out. The easiest way was to spray them with the garden hose thru the fence, but it didn't work nearly as well. The main reason I changed to the nipples was due to Rooster Damage. I have 3 roos, and Smokey likes to chase the other 2 around the coop, and a rooster running at full speed would snap off the cups and drain my water barrel. Hope this helps, Eric

    Would love to know how this company is still around with this God awful build quality. Wet cardboard is stronger than this thing

    Thanks for showing how this mower can take on high weeds. That's my yard. Good to know I won't break it.

      I haven't broken mine yet and still treating it rough. It will stall if it can't discharge the tall stuff, but that's expected, and restarting is a whole lot easier than a gas mower

      Just bought and tried it out tonight, and my yard made his look clean. I was impressed how easily it destroyed the little trees popping up.

    Watching two years later and wondering if he raised the cutting height all the way up so you do not work it as hard.
