Thank you very much for being so kind!
Best month November! Now where do I go to write the essay? 🤷🏻♀️
Please, share it: askwriterider@gmail.com
Thanks for your help with this...
Absolutely!
Do you recommend practicing the exact essay or should we alter it and write it in our own words?
Finding your style and your voice is key. The prompt becomes irrelevant. When writing no longer feels like work (or a chore), that is when you know you have captured "you" on paper.
I scored a 6 my 1st time taking it - I didn’t realize what an Accuplacer was (I graduated HS in 2008 & decided to go back to school to advance my career… so I’m a little bit outta the loop 🤦🏽♀️ lol). So I went in raw on old knowledge, without study or prep tests. Is there a difference in benefit between scoring a 6 vs a 7/8? I scored well in the Reading & Math… but decided after actually studying for the math portion & retaking it so that I could score in the highest percentile (which I ended up accomplishing! 🥳🥳🥳), I realized that I wanted to do the same for the Reading & POSSIBLY for the WritePlacer portion (but only if the 1 or 2 higher score will make a difference). So, should I retake the Essay portion of the test, or will I get the same exact benefit as my current score of 6? Thank you so much for taking the to help! ^_^
Thank you for your question. (Loved how you jumped in and went for it, too.) For me, I wonder what those extra points will provide for you. (Check with your college because it will vary from institution to institution.) In the meantime, stay the course. Focus on doing well in those career advancement courses and network as much as possible. Build those relationships, so when you have your credentials, you will have a solid group of people motivating and helping you. (I hope what I'm sharing here makes sense.)
very helpful channel i gave ielts twice and i got 6.0 now i am planning for give ELLT test to secure 6.5 which is university requirement..

how many sample papers or questions does college board provide in the $10 one?
Hello Neha, Your investment buys you 58 pages of useful material including 90 multiple choice questions (with an answer key). In addition, it has an essay score breakdown with sample essay submissions in both essay categories. It is definitely a worthy investment.
Many thanks for your efforts, my writing skill is slightly improving step by step.
I am very pleased to hear that you are improving. Let me know how I can offer more help.
@@WriteRiders I have difficulty with the thesis statement at the beginning, any advice on how to improve thesis statement writing?
@@haiderjamal303 My strategy for argumentative/persuasive is to use the prompt along with my position as the thesis. I keep it basic. For example, a thesis (at the end of the introduction paragraph) might sound something like this: "Therefore, I support the idea of limiting social media consumption by young people." (I had a teacher who made theme an acronym to stand for: time, health, education, money, and environment.) Most arguments impact those major areas. With respect to an expository, again I look at the prompt, and keep it simple. For instance, it may sound something like this: One must closely examine the pros and cons of social media consumption. (Boring, but safe.) Indeed, the prompt leads my thesis. I try not to get to "fancy" and abstract with my thesis in order to have more time to develop clear examples. (Save the fancy for the college essays and dissertation.)
@@WriteRiders Thanks, advice saving is done ✅, I'll stay tuned to your channel.
@@haiderjamal303 My pleasure! I know your question will help others!
Thank you for the video. I can’t write, I say it again & again. ☹️Every time I try to write an essay I feel like I’m stuck. I want to be better at writing. Can give me a recommendation? I have been studying/ taking writing courses for years, but I feel like I still can’t write. Thank you!
You are welcome, JC. Part of it comes from writing what comes to your mind. (Just as you did in the comments.) I might suggest setting aside 10 minutes (no disruptions) each day (either on paper or with a blank screen) and writing whatever comes into your head. Let the brainstorming happen. Avoid censoring your thinking. If you need a specific topic, start writing about what you know. When you write about what you know, you gain confidence in your writing abilities.

Hello Fiona. It may take some time, but I will get there.
It was of great help.Thank you. Waiting for another essay video.
I am glad to hear that Hope. The longer 40 minute video will be available today.

How can you get all of that info from thin air my question was about history vs modern my mind literally went blank I did the best I could and scored a 4 I was told to right 5 paragraphs with 5 sentences in each thats how you can score an 8
Marlita: you are so right! That's the struggle part -- finding information out of thin air. Your prompt sounded tough. Part of it is being able to connect with the prompt to be able to write quickly. After timing yourself on different prompts, take that test again, Marlita. Here's what you know: you will NOT see that history prompt again.
@@WriteRiders I took the writer placement again today and scored a 6!! I typed 5 paragraphs with 7-8 sentences. The total words counted were 673. I was happy about that. My reading I got a 253 and math I got 251. I guess I did well enough to score into all college courses. My prompt was about emphasis on practical skill.
@@marlitacampbell8288 Congratulations! It definitely sounds like you were able to connect with that prompt. So glad you are able to jump into those college level courses. Thank you for sharing your prompts -- I will see what I can find online to make more videos for students. I also thank you for sharing your experiences; it helps others understand that they are not alone in having to overcome these tests.
Thank you for the great job you do. You have helped me more than any other source material
I really appreciate your kind words, Elvin. Your words keep me motivated to stay the course. I promise I will keep doing what I am doing. Also, I have not forgotten about your CLEP videos (for the two essay sections) request.
Do u have videos for the essays on English composition CLEP test?
Hello Elvin! I absolutely appreciate the idea of making such future videos happen! As you know, CLEP requires two essays: one 30-minute essay and one 40-minute essay. The 40-minute essay requires two sources (within the essay). Passing this CLEP also requires doing well on the multiple choice part. Again, I appreciate your idea for 2023! Here's the CLEP link I used: clep.collegeboard.org/clep-exams/college-composition
Hey Elvin, I did more digging. Just purchased the practice test for $10, so you will be seeing upcoming videos for this one. Also, I learned about this organization through @CollegeHacked. Below is the site for the organization Dr. Clifford Stumme mentions on his channel: modernstates.org/course/college-composition/
@@WriteRiders thank for responding. I Have always struggled with English since it’s my second language. Plus, I hate reading, but I can not select courses until I pass. I’m more focused on the 2nd essay.

I apologize this response is very late. How did your personal statement go?
Hi I'm taking this test tomorrow. Would you be able to grade my essay today so I can see how I'm doing?
Feel free to upload your essay. I will do a video review and post it to the CZcams channel. This way we are learning from each other.
I am unsure why I am seeing this so late. How did the writing test go? Did you end up passing it on your first try?
Thank you for making video on accuplacer essays prompt ❤️
My pleasure, Aamir. More videos on this prompt will be uploaded soon.
Please make more videos on accuplacer essays and can you please tell me about what type of essays they assign us to write? Do you know about the topics for accuplacer essays? On what type of topics I should practice?
Morning Aamir. I will definitely create more videos where I practice writing. Accuplacer does not provide as many prompts (available online) for me to practice. The topics vary -- that's why students struggle. (You don't know what to practice.) In August, your prompt may be argumentative. Then, in October, your prompt may be descriptive. What they are looking to see is how you write. If you have some sample essays (that you've written), and would like to share them with me via email, I will take a look at them for you.
@@WriteRiders ok thanks
@@AmirKhan-sl8bc Just let me know. I can help you identify your strengths and challenges.
I took TOEFL IBT exam. I had a college-level introduction to composition course. I have to write the ACCUPLACER exam. I did not like these essays which scored 8/8.1) They do not fit into classic templates that I am familiar with. 2) Usage of advanced vocabulary does not seem natural considering the freestyle of their writing. 3) Points of view are not crystal clear. Both of the essays look like compare and contrast essays. Are not they supposed to be persuasive essays? 4) Repeating the exact wording like "we do not have control" is irritating. They have not even tried to paraphrase the same idea. 5)They have obvious logic errors. The guy has a father who did online schooling. Online courses are a very recent trend. The writer could have said his father had distance education. 6) Connections between paragraphs are not fluid.
I completely understand. You have definitely offered some valid and constructive discussion here. The one thing we do know is that prompts will vary, so there is no uniformity. One candidate may have a persuasive prompt while another candidate may have a narrative one. The other thing we know is that candidates may face restrictions on time. Finally, we (as writers) have little say in how our essay will be scored. Some students learn through practice; some learn by example. In this case, I felt that if we knew how "perfect" looked, we might (in our own way) reach it.
I want to practice writeplacer and score up in my last test i got 4 but now i want to up my score to 6

Hello Sharleen. Writeplacer gives you a prompt and/or question for you to address in an essay format. The questions vary from student to student.
@@WriteRiders I was like asking if you have the question asked in the sample essay one
Yes, if you click on the link provided (under the timestamps), it will take you right to it.
@@sharleenchepkemoi1150 The question is on page three, but here it is: "Are we free to make our own decisions or are we limited in the choices we make."
@@WriteRiders Thank you so much
Thank you so much. So we only need only one point or we write as long we get 300 words
Read the prompt given very carefully. The amount you write depends on the prompt. What I noticed was that students who gave a mix of personal life examples and general examples, scored higher than students who did not.
In addition, if the prompt gives you text evidence, you should blend it within your essay.
