    I resonate with this! When I was studying human development, it became clear to me that the early adolescent years, particularly from 11-13, seemed to be super important for people, male and female. Traumatic experiences, in particular, have a huge role to play in the life of a child, because they have no experience to counteract what’s happening to them in order to develop perspective. Couple this with a time in their life when their the most awkward, painfully aware of themselves, encountering others who have learned to be less than kind, comparing themselves to others, and operating with hormones kicking in and an immature brain, and you have a recipe for psychological and physiological dysfunction as that person develops. As we know trauma is what is perceived by the person - it’s not always what we classically consider trauma. For a myriad of reasons - familial, societal, cultural - females in particular seem to be prone to this loss of their authentic voice. As a Contrarian and self-proclaimed Badass 😊, I’m writing a book that I hope will help females (in particular) realize they can refuse to play along. As a speaker and coach with Toastmasters, I coach others to find and share their authentic voice. It doesn’t necessarily mean sharing their story but the act of speaking up can work wonders on the body, mind, and spirit! Thanks Doc, for bringing this to our attention.

    I love mindy & her advice but I followed her schedule on fasting to your cycle for 4 weeks. I lost weight but it severely brought on my peri menopause so I had to stop. I have put the weight back on plus some & my hormones r happy again. No more night sweats, hot flushes or feeling overwhelmed & anxious etc

    :51 I caught the word “crisis” and I can identify! I’ve been in mental high stress status for a few years. I just stopped to decrease the stress, but my body and mind don’t seem to be bouncing back. I’m tired and my brain is TIRED. It’s hard to think. I’ve been fasting successfully for about 6 weeks, but should I do something to lower the cortisol first? I’m post- /55 yrs old. Thank you so much!

    When I teach people to have mostly protein and fat instead of mostly carbs for breakfast, they often refuse to believe that they'll feel better That Very Day. They have an idea that any change they make will take weeks of effort and "discipline" (deprivation) to take effect. Nope. Change one breakfast, no fatigue that afternoon. Every single person who was willing to change One Meal Once got the undeniable experience. I hope my comment will help someone give it a go.

    My doc recommended starting progesterone cream and waiting on estrogen until I start skipping periods. I thought if you use an estradiol patch, you shouldn't use a progesterone cream, because the molecule is too large to be absorbed, and the ratio will not be sufficient to protecting your uterus lining.

    My shbg is 122. I take estradiol by pill. My breasts hurt & lymph nodes aches in both armpits and now I know it’s estradone that I’m getting. I pat hundreds of dollars to get help & guidance but find the information I need at 2 am for free on CZcams.

    Love you Dr Mindy but so disagree that we in the West today live in a “patriarchal society”; toxic feminism has ensured our society has become a matriarchal society but not in a good way. Women are derided if they choose to stay home to look after their children, if they want to be a housewife; Young men are demeaned; it’s all “you go girl” - get out and have a career, whether you truly want one or not. No wonder women are so stressed.

    So my thyroid journey : I have been telling my doc for over a year that I believe my thyroid med isn’t feeling right . Doc ‘s reaction: well we will keep an eye on your blood work it is at a great level so we will watch it. Went to a natural path: She heard me out agreed the thyroid med I am on is not that great and she has better options ….but doesn’t want to to step on the toes of my primary doc.’s prescription (? ) But of course she had a supplement to pair with my med.So it is my body , my symptoms but either one of them want to go forward with my instinct? Thyroid is a master gland but is taken lightly by most professionals. And I consider myself lucky to even have a GP….and she is keto literate. So that’s a good thing ! But in today’s world just deciding to get another Doctor is not an option for me or most people right now. Extreme shortages! So I paid a natural path a lot to be told she won’t step on the toes if my drs prescribed thyroid treatment !? So I am following you guys . I would like to find an iodine literate doc out there. I tried iodine , but I need a coach to see me through it , as it went all haywire because I don’t have the knowledge to reduce my thyroid med along the way. So off iodine for now.

    Dr. Mary totally believes everyone needs to be on HRT. She doesn't give one single legitimate reason why a women shouldn't get on hrt. It's isolating. It seriously can't be the only answer!! I'm sick of this being the only answer! And all the talk about nutrition doesn't mean anything if you still have to be on HRT no matter what else you do.

    Rising up? To what? Hrt. That's the standard we have to achieve now to keep up with all the others?? If i refuse to do hrt, then i have to have to live with all the horrible symptoms because fasting and nutrition aren't enough?? You have just jumped on the hrt bandwagon like everyone else, which is not natural.
