Hometown Series: It’s Watermelon Season
Hello, guys! I’m back with another video. I’ve been in my hometown for a while now. Being in my hometown has been so healing to me. My family and I planted watermelons in our field and it’s harvesting season! I documented a little bit of about it and thought I would share it with you all. This video took me so long to edit, but I hope you enjoy it.
Stay tune! I will try to film and edit another video this week!

Hi, is ASEAN scholarship holder more easy to get University scholarship after you have finished your JC? Thank you
That is not necessarily true, but many of us got scholarships at Singapore universities. It depends largely on your grades as well. You could also become a permanent resident, which is easier and faster to get as a scholarship student while studying there. That will increase your chances of getting the scholarships, or you'll pay lower tuition fees if you don't get one.
Hi , which school are you in now?
I am studying in the US right now

Greetings!! I recently did my interview and I have no idea whether i did great or bad . Firstly, I really want to ask if they value being independent and being able to cope in sg alot? Because in the interview they asked me if i think ill face any problems and I said yes, exam stress and being independent like shopping my own stuff and something(my brain was going fuzzy). And I didn’t even said how I’ll overcome it :c . They also ask me a follow up on my failure and how ill overcome it and my answer was not so good as I was saying something like me being very determined and blah blah… but i also mentioned how my teacher helped me a lot (i said smt like if i didnt have him i might have already failed)) so i think i really messed up on the independence part. What are your views?? But on the part that i think i did good was showing my personality, being authentic , showing that i really want the scholar but I wasn’t sure if that would be able to help me much Thank you very much for reading this long chunky text!

hi! im from msia n ive been shortlisted for the interview :”) recently, there was a vis (virtual information system) zoom meeting n some of my questions werent answered at all due to time constraint T^T here r my questions both the unanswered ones and the ones i thought of here on the spot <3 1) are personal learning devices moderated / checked by the school? - context: i already own an ipad and have been thinking about bringing it even if i need to buy another one,, but will the pld be checked by the school? i have a lot of stuff on my ipad i use to interact w my family a lot as they aren’t around as much as i would like (games, music, messengers etc js in general stuff i use to bond w my family) and i wouldnt really want it to be checked through (for privacy & sanity purposes) 2) what facilities are generally in a hostel? - context: they had this video playing during vis and i saw a canteen and the dorm. i also recall a gym (?) and i heard from a friend about a computer room and a laundry room. is there any room for like washing my water bottle / portable utensils / etc? or is that just the pantry? 3) is there a way to access drinking water or do we have to go buy it outside/bring a filter pitcher? 4) if possible, could you share ur interview questions? its fine if you are unable to / can’t remember 5) will ur roommates be in the same school as you or no? - - - before anyone asks (i was bombarded on my comment somewhere else) - no, i didnt finish the math test 😭 i had like 10 questions left and 2 minutes, so i did all the free marks and one-steps/questions i found simple in the last two minutes. u have to manage ur time super well to complete the paper - my writing prompts were: 1) what was an experience you learnt something from? 2) my favorite toy - iq test was mcq, basically there were 3 types of questions: rearrange the sequence, complete the sequence or continue the sequence. the front questions were easy but the back ones were REALLY, REALLY HARD. like incredibly brain numbingly hard. i remember filling my blanks in (about 3-5?) with c bcs i didnt know what was happening,, honestly wasnt too bad tho (as someone a year ahead and also never taken an iq test before) - writing & english was easy, comprehension was mcq. i come from an international sch so pls take my judging with a grain of salt as i was in fact complemented twice on my writing by the invigilator,, thank u sm for ur video haha 🫶 i hope ill be able to contribute to the database online sometime soon as theres not a lot of relevant info rn ;-; love uu!!

Definitely bring yours! 2, 3. Laundry room is in every hostel, but gym and computer room may or may not present. The pantry generally has microwave, water dispenser, sink, and refrigerator. Hello!! I just want to ask if the music room (and the instruments) in your school is available for everyone (at any time) or are they only accessible by those who are part of a music club and the like? Because I want to know if I need to bring my own instrument or not (for special occasions, etc.). Thank you!
Hello! The music room is available for all boarders. Typically, you need to book the room. In the hostel I lived, there are only keyboard and some traditional instruments. It’s more of like the room for you to practice musics. So, definitely bring your own if you need to perform or practice.
Thank you for answering my question! I would also like to know if there is a printer available in the hostel, and do you think that getting an iPad is a necessity while studying there? What type of devices do you recommend that new students should bring with them? Thank you!
@@SummerNight-kn1cq yes, the printer is available. For the devices, i would argue that an iPad/Tablet is very useful because: 1. You can take notes in it if you don’t want to carry many books around. 2. There are like numerous past papers and worksheets you will need to do for schools or for your exam preparations. Buying them all the time can be expensive. 3. An iPad/Tablet (with the keyboard) is more useful than laptop if you are not gonna do coding or other projects that need laptop. But, it depends on your preferences. My secondary school in Singapore required us to buy school subsidized iPad so I got super used to using iPads. I also used laptop since I studied computing. But, overall iPad is super useful. If you are gonna need an iPad, you can buy it in Singapore too because there is Apple Education here so you’ll pay less and probably get more free stuff. Also, your school might require you to buy one FROM SCHOOL. So, I suggest don’t buy it from your own country first.
Hi! Just asking for my sister, may I know if you have any plans after the scholarship duration like which school are you planning to go to and do you have any plans to stay there after college? Im asking because my sister is not sure about what to do after the 4 yr scholarship. Do you have any tips for her? Thank you so much
Oh, it really depends. You have different options! Many like to stay in Sg. Some go to the UK or the US. You can also come back to study in your home country if you want. For your sister, if she wants to study in Singapore after the 4 years, she can take up permanent resident (PR) in Singapore during her study there. With PR, u stand a better chance of getting scholarships in universities there. Even without scholarships, you will pay less in Singapore’s universities. With very good grades, you also have high chances of getting the scholarships. For me, I applied to a few US and Singapore’s universities. Scholarships are everything for me. I ended up choosing the US over Singapore’s universities as the scholarship packages are greater. I rlly don’t know how helpful this is. I am trying to share as much as I can, but also don’t want to expose myself on the internet. U can dm me on ig @chhiv_guech if you want to know more.
Thank you for making this video! But I have a few questions regarding some of the things you mentioned like the part when you said you'll have Singaporean classmates, does it mean that the scholars will likely have more local classmates than international ones? And to clarify, is the 250-low 300 SG dollars worth of allowance a monthly allowance but only given once in every few months so like a min. of 750 SG dollars every three months? Or is the 250-300 SG allowance worth for about three months? Thank you ❤
You’re welcome :). For classmates, most will be Singaporeans since you are going to the public school, but there are international students and permanent residents too. You might not be studying with your scholar friends if you have different subject combinations. For the allowance part, they will give u total amount once every 3 months (at least it’s like this for the past years) = (250-low 300) x 3.
Hi! Thank you for answering my previous question. A few days ago, I received an email from MOE saying that I have to undergo a few medical checkups for my medical clearance. And what were the procedures of the check up, if I may ask? Thank you again!
@@rchl.humblb sorry, I couldn’t recall about this at all but don’t worry about it. They will do so soon. As for the checkup, it’s just regular a checkup. They’ll refer you to specific clinic/hospital. Then, you’ll be required to do things like eyesight test, color blind test, chest x-ray etc.
Helloo, for the test is it that hard to finish the paper (maths)? Because from blogs many people said they got in with leaving 3 or 2 questions. Thank you
It could be hard because there are like 25 questions or so. I also didn’t finish my paper and left about 4 questions. It could be do to my lack of preparation because i believe you can finish it if u are familiar with all topics in English. But more importantly, u need to be sure that whatever that you’ve done are correct. Hope that helps!
I only had 2 weeks to prepare and I’m reallyy nervous, especially i have to learn all sec 3 in one week. What are the hardest questions in your opinion? (Material wise)

If I had the same experience as you, can you tell me how your local teachers thought/judged your decision? 2. When will we be informed about the exact date of the departure and what are the procedures that we are required to do (such as paying for the plane ticket, and how will we be reimbursed)? 3. Is there an allowance given to us on a time basis? Approx. how much and do you think it's enough for your daily living? 4. What are the necessities you need to buy there (such as uniform, books, etc.)? Do you think the allowance given to us is enough to buy them? I'm sorry for asking a lot and thank you sooooo much! 😊
Congratulations on receiving the offer! I’ll try my best to answer your questions. 1. I was offered the scholarship in grade 10. I had exams and went to school until the very end of grade 10. My departure date was during the holiday so our situation is a bit different. If you decide to accept the scholarship, I suggest that you tell your teachers and consult with them on what you can do. Otherwise, I think that it’s not a bad idea to continue (unless u have better and more meaningful things to do) because what u will be learning might help ur studies in Singapore. 2. Hmm, if u accept the scholarship, you will definitely be informed, usually via email, one of two months before your departure date. They booked and paid the plane ticket for me. I think it will be the same for you, but I can’t guarantee for sure since it’s been almost 5 years since I got my scholarship. 3,4. Yes, usually once every few months. U can expect around 250-low 300 SGD/month depending your level (secondary or Junior college). It was enough/more than enough for me, but note that I don’t spend a lot. Just for groceries (snacks, fruits, food, etc), uniforms, studying materials, transports, eating out once or twice per week, it’s more than enough. It depends on ur lifestyle. Bed linen , food (breakfast and dinner), health insurance (for visiting clinic only) are provided. If you need anything other than that you need to purchase them on your own. do bring some money with you bc u might not receive your allowance immediately. Hope these answers your questions. 1. From what I heard, the IQ/General Ability Test had not been tested from 2020 to 2023. However, it seems that it has been resumed this year, at least for countries like Vietnam. Some tips I have for this test: - this test requires you to identify the next patterns based on the previous patterns shown. - compete the questions as fast as you can because there is not a lot of time given for this test. Score more! - practice these type of questions regularly to familiarize yourself. - don’t feel pressured to get everything correct. If you don't mind may I know what kind of pre uni that this scholarship offer ,for ex: a-level , IB or matriculation 😊
Hello! This typically lasts 4 years (9th to 12th grades). Normally, the first two years will be for O-Levels. If your scores meet minimum requirement to renew the scholarship, you can go to either Junior College(do A-Level) or IB depending on the school you get into with your O-Level results.
