So basically he looks like the type to punch you, but then he summon a weapon out of nowhere. 100% pulling.
The sword got a black aura to it; tells me this ice isnt normal cryp but maybe some black ice power. Kinda like how theres depictions of black flames in other series; maybe black ice is special. Just a thought

he beveled it to get the wave shape (ctrl+b) or your asking how he smoothed it?
it shade smooth... you can get it in object mode by right-clicking the object...

It's normal situation man. Every one has own way of levelling blender skills. If you need a rest, you make it, if you need a pause - tou also make it, so everything is ok with you.
