Steigen & Engeløya - Magic between the mountains
Elna and i went to visit her daughter and fiancé. May has been a very warm start of the summer and we had such a great time.
Steigen is one of Saltens hidden gems, and its absolutely worth visiting, especially during summertime.
Steigen offers majestic mountains with spectacular views looking out over the sea, fjords and the Lofoten wall.
The municipality also offers a great range of white sandy beaches and crystal clear waters.
as well as beautiful inland areas with rivers, fishing ponds and valleys.
Engeløya is an island in the northern part of Steigen Municipality in Nordland county, Norway. The island has an area of 69 square kilometres (27 sq mi). The highest point on the island is the 649-metre (2,129 ft) Trohornet mountain. The rocky, mountainous island has grassy slopes that are fertile and it has some of the better farmland in the municipality. The island sits in the entrance to the Sagfjorden, just south of the island of Lundøya.[1]
Engeløya is connected to the mainland by the Engeløy Bridges. The Engeløy Airport, Grådussan is located on the northwestern tip of the island. Steigen Church is located on the southwestern side of the island.[1]
The name Engeløya translates as "Angel Island" in the English language.
During WWII, the German Battery Dietl was constructed with three 40.6 cm SK C/34 guns as part of the Atlantic Wall.
Bøsanden beach is a white beach, over 800 meters long, surrounded by grasslands and sand dunes it reminds you most of the more southerly beaches. Bøsanden is so much more.
Enclosed by magnificent and fabled mountains, and the eye-cathing view of the Lofoten “wall”, with the midnight sun hanging over it. Sand between your toes, can you wish for something better?

Rambua is an idyllically situated day-trip hut on Ramboghøjen with a beautiful panoramic view. We find wetlands with a rich bird life in a slightly hilly terrain. A family visit in Bergen gave us an opportunity to experience this small but beautiful Hike. A little wet and cold wind didn't stop us this time either.

Elna and I cycled from the center of Kirkenes to the dam which is located approximately in the middle of the Sandnes river. From there, the trip went on foot up to Bekktjørna. Farming and ferries. Two very important things in all of Norway. And it still is. And many places you can see a bit of very old history. For some just junk for others art and a proof of a hard life.🥰
