Great photos ,I worked at an ex policemans house who was the beat Bobby on st annes well road when the so called St Anne's riots happened in the 50/60s .He said it was all blown out of proportion by the news papers .

My sister lived in those flats i hated them

I first saw Patrick Moore's The Sky At Night when I was 15. It was my absolute favorite TV Show. About 8 years later I was at the BBC directing some other TV series when a head poked round my office door and said "We have a bit of a problem. We're short someone to direct today's Sky At Night you wouldn't be able to oblige would you? OMG! A boyhood dream come true. I was absolutely star struck and my knees were shaking when I met the great man. He was a true gentleman. I must have done okay because he asked for me again and I did it few more before going back to ITV. It was an honor to have known him if only for a short while. In a short time at the Beeb I had the pleasure of working with other great men like Cliff Michelmore, Magnus Magnusson, Robert Robinson and his namesake Kenneth Robinson. True gentleman and professionals all and kind to a wet behind the ears kid who had been thrust into directing TV shows when he still hardly knew his arse from his elbow. Patrick Moore was such a reassuring man. He was a schoolmaster so really good at giving confidence to a young person too star struck to think.

Its madness going to Mars..before we set up a base on the moon...

Hi Nice video and brings back memories of my younger days I lived on heartwell Street off the top of peas hill road from 1956 to 60 then moved to Northumberland Street till they moved us to clifton in 1968 when the knocked it all down we lived opposite magna merchants builders yard and one of shipstones horse stables used to see them at the pub at the junction of Northumberland street and great freeman street great times great memories thanks for posting

I notice it was directed by Richard Marquand. I'm pretty sure that is the same Richard Marquand who went on to direct "Birth of the Beatles" (1973) and "Return of the Jedi" (1983)
