Been wanting one of these for quite awhile, even with the (much cheaper) FMS version released recently. We'll see how this pans out...

So a half inch of 5/16 tube drops it a half inch but how does the shock handle it still works well as long as no big jumps?
The tires aren't too tall, but I do like a scale-width tire. Unfortunately, there just aren't many pizza cutters out there.
Cool video amigo.
💯
I crawled mine in dirt and mud. Never had any issues with steering or going up and over dirt hills. I just oversized all the accessories parts for the Scx3, and 3D printed them for my scx6. Even the front bumper with the two loop.
I like the tires. The real thing is my dream truck, but one of these modles is probably all I'll ever be able to afford.
Great colour!
Great video... thanks for sharing! Liked and subscribed. By the way, I think those big meats look awesome. Which tires and wheels are those again? Cheers!
❤❤❤❤❤Thanks for sharing, keep em coming, From Alberta Canada.
They are amazing and super fun!! Extremely capable. But mine sits……I go to my 1/10 1/18 I use few times a week….scx6 few times a year lol. Partially they are expensive to upgrade. Someday I’ll lower it and put it on some lcg chasis!
Been driving mine quite a lot this spring, great for lakeside hikes with a lot of sand, and perfect for snow runs! It comes with me to every group run, even with my 10th scale stuff
Funny they did the pumpkin on the wrong side, a real Toyota has it on the right side.
How do you set up your pinion gear mesh ?
Usually the old reliable trick, put a small piece of paper between the pinion & spur, tighten down the motor, then remove the paper. After a while, you can just eyeball it...
It’s a bad radio marketed by a worse company. Poor quality in exchange for accessibility at hobbytown, somewhat useable with some rtr’s. It is what it is. It’s a bummer the Sanwa mt5 can’t be in its place more often.
WoW!!! Awesome snow Fun Footage my Friend! 🐼👌🏻
Very nice build! Super performer there!
Really appreciate your channel, thanks a lot. Greetings from Munich.
I am running one spring on my fj, but I do plan on adding the helper spring as well. Great looking fj.
I have 3 1:10 scale trucks, 9 trucks total. I just got back into rc after becoming unable to work again. I want one of these, just worried that I won't drive anything else.
Stumbled upon this channel and for the first video ive seen, Im hooked. Definitely sub worthy. Ive been looking at the scx6 for some time now and been hesitant because of the price. My lhs both the jeep and honcho are 1499.00 cdn rtr. Ive got 1/10, 1/18 and 1/24 crawlers but the large scale seems to interest me more. I really enjoyed the real life review and the explanations are awesome. Keep up the great vids.
very informative vid enjoyed it thank you.
I was thinking of buying this or the fms fj one. I have heard it is very difficult to remove the bodypins from underneath, what's your opinion about that. Bwt love the color
The body on this truck is attached with 4 screws, not the most fun to deal with, especially on the trail.. but I think this truck has a better drivetrain than the FMS, depending on how you intend to drive (long trail runs, etc)
@@brokennibrc1045 ah the screws on the side. That oké. I got a Rc4wd tf2 wich has the same mounting. However i changed the screws for long set screws. So you dont have to unscrew them.
@@DutchRCPlayground I have to warn you, the screws on this is 2.5 mm, not the 3mm on the TF2. I need to drill and tap this for 3mm, which is a lot easier to deal with🙂
Great looking build. Enjoy the journey! New sub and liked.
I don’t think you have a “lousy opinion” as the title is written at the time of viewing. The video is an interesting comparison between the legacy versions.
Thanks... Honestly I don't believe that I myself have a "lousy Opinion" I just want to relate my own experience with the product, and let people make up they're own mind, for what works for them. (and not take it to seriously)
Why would they not put a knob on the rear like they did on the pro to control rear steer? That is a big miss on this one. Just went to charge my Li-Ion battery on my Pro and went to plug it in and smoked the board. Now I have a dead DX5-Pro
That's not cool... you sure it wasn't a LiFe battery? Those top out at 6.6 volts
@@brokennibrc1045 It is Spektrum Transmitter batter made specifically for this and is Li-Ion 7.4v. Used many times without issue.
@@stevengeorge4393 wow... not good. I put LiFe's in mine, and never had an issue. If it's a Spektum product, that is no bueno
It rained for a straight week over in my parts. There’s so much mud ATVs kept getting stuck left and right this weekend. I thought it a wiser decision to keep my truck out of the mud this time.
Well normally I stay away the mud, but this time I couldn't help myself. It's mostly "brown water" lol
You would not believe how many times I’ve had the Rugged in my cart but I really don’t care for Spectrum products but I do have stock Spectrum electronics with radios. I had a Flysky5 that I had purchased but only had one crawler on it finally al ost a year ago I started moving over other RC’s to it all crawlers I don’t know if it’s a good basher Radio I only use mine on Crawlers but I have seen some videos with people using them with bashers.
Fms body is a bit bigger. Heck the rc4wd one is too big to be 1/10 as well. Great kit overall. I did leaf conversion on mine. Love driving it. Great job with yours.
You need a 5ch receiver in your configuration right ?
Is it improved ??
Compared to the previous version? Yes. Is it worth over 200 bucks? That's up for debate.
there are four 6 channel dsmr receivers in Spektrum's catalog. sr6100at, sr6110at, sr6200at, and the sr6300pm. Spektrum/HH marketing department needs to be fired. there is no reason why this radio should be sold with a 5 channel receiver... although the dx6c combo is even worse. it is sold with a 3 channel receiver.
Wow, I'll look this up, but are those surface receivers? And I think your right, the Marketing on these radios are ridiculous. Especially after HH swallowed them up (Along with Axial and everybody else) Whoops, just checked it out, they are surface, at least the SR6110AT, for 100 bucks... sheesh
@@brokennibrc1045 The SR part of the model designation, literally, means Surface Receiver, if that helps. The AR units are all Air Receivers.
Man I have the DX5 rugged and impulsively bought The dx6 rugged .... Wish I just went with the DX5 pro, but now I'm thinking maybe a new pro model is due to come out sooner than later since it's been 3 years..thoughts?
Very likely we might see a new DX6 Pro radio in a month or so, or possibly a DX6c, which could be a cheaper alternative. Although I haven't seen any 6 channel receivers yet, so I wouldn't hold my breath
@@brokennibrc1045 hoping for a new pro, I'm scared to buy the 5 pro and soon after the 6 will come out 😂. I maxed out at 20 models on the rugged that's why I bought the new one , really wish they could have added more than 20 on the 6 rugged
Dx6c came out before this did they put a removable battery tray so you can use a rechargeable battery in it
Dx5c and rugged are both the worst radios ive yet to use.... flysky and others have them smoked in almost every single category.
I cant argue with that at all, FlySky has gotten to the point where the availability can be hit or miss, and for me I'd have to replace more than a few receivers. But I definitely want to try them out, when my wallet will allow it
@brokennibrc1045 the gt3c is under 50 bucks. Great transmitter. If you want a step up the gt5 is second to none dollar for dollar. They can be had for under 70 bucks too! Even the new 7 channel flysky is cheap! Now the noble is expensive but well worth it imo
Yeah, I definitely want a Noble in the future@@rc-daily
Great video! I’m in the market to build my first 1/10 crawler, and the vrd carbon is at the top of my list
The thumb lever sucks. The steering wheel sucks. But it can be replaced. The scrolling system to navigate the menu sucks. I actually don’t need 6 channels right now. Spektrum mentions MOA. The manual and the menu don’t even show any type of throttle mixing. I have a DX5 Pro that controls my MOA that I want this to replace. That sucks. Other than that I like it. Especially when it replaces all those DX3 transmitters. But this sob needs to replace my DX5 Pro. What’s going on Spektrum? It’s as if you’re lying to me…
😢sad video.
*sad trombone* 🙂
Great insight, thank you.
Yeah. So I have way too many radios. I definitely need to update
Nice share my friend! You chose a great color. One of my favorites. Two years ago I bought my dream FJ40 RC the Gelande II Cruiser RTR in red. As a Land Cruiser super fan and collector I’ve enjoyed many hours driving my RC and filming it for my CZcams channel. Last year I bought a body kit with the intention of making it topless and weathering it. That way I can change out bodies according to my mood. Even bought a scale Kurt Russell figure. Haven’t had time to build it because I’m my wife’s caregiver. I’m not very RC knowledgeable, but your channel looks informative. I’m looking forward to seeing what you do with your FJ. Best wishes, Robert PNW
Hello Robert - I thought I'd mention that there's a parallel world to one-tenth scale - 1:12. In that world there are two main players when it comes to hard-bodied FJ40s and 45s. These are WPL and MN Models. Their RTR models are awful, with terrible gearing and motor choices, but it's easy and fun to upgrade the MN Models version, and the WPL also comes as a kit so you can select your own motor and gearbox. Why am I telling you this? Not to try and convert you to 1:12, simply to give you access to more CZcams videos showing beautifully weathered Toyotas : ) I'd suggest searching "WPL C34" (the station wagon) and "WPL C44" (the flatbed truck). The station wagon is sometimes modelled without the roof and doors, which makes it look very sexy and Jeep-like.
@@Del350K4 Thank you my friend, I am constantly looking for any videos Land Cruiser related, big and small.
I thought I was the only one that actively paints their rig. I just found it more practical to do it that way. Heck, I paint them with scratches in mind.
Looking good.
I painted my Gen8 Scout II cobalt green. Great color, it pops!
I really like your videos and the real-world view on the cars.
love the truck bed setup
Thanks for the vid, waiting for delivery of my kit and thinking how to mount rear of body never considered hinge so that may help a bunch as I was trying to avoid tall pins to the roof as I want to run a junior mortician shell.
Love it. Bug bodies are the best.
She looks great thanks for showing us 🫡
Hey man that's cool , i like the hinge , you should try Velcro up front and ditch the pins 😊
Ive got a lot of axials and Traxxas, I have yet to get a Vanquish. The Bug body looks good on that build.
Awesome build.. very nicely done
There’s misprints in the instructions also on some of the earlier kits like mine.
I've heard that, I don't remember any previous issues myself, but sometimes the CAD drawings can be a little hard to decipher
