Easiest way to actually test the pens instead of the reductions is to use morde. If the pen is addative, he will have 55%. if not, 49%. When using void staff. And when I went into testing, he still had 49%.

It will still work multiplicative with Evelyn W and Voidstaff ( to address the thumbnail). Defense reduction is applied before damage calculation and penetration during damage calc.

Maybe both penetration and reduction worked only with initial value. Or they really made them stack addictively

Magic reduction and % magic pen work differently. I just checked it in practice tool. Level 9 Evelynn was used in my tests. Basic dmg on her skillshot is 57 (3 points in Q). W maxed. 2 dummies were used with 2 negatron cloaks in inventory which equals 100 mr. Test #1 Abyssal mask + Large road (+70 ap to balance out ap we get from %mpen item). Results prove the video MR is reduced to 25. Damage taken by dummy 46. As a result we dealt 80% of the dmg. Which correlates with 25 mr dummy since 25 mr = 20% reduced dmg. Test #2 Cryptobloom (it gives 70 ap we accounted for in test #1). After W mr is reduced to 55% and Q1 deals just 41 dmg. As a result we dealt 72% of the dmg. Which perfectly works with the formula presented in the video (100*(1-(1-0.45)*(1-0.3))=38.5 Here 38.5 represents our MR reduction combined with MR penetration. And it works multiplicatevily and not additively as author tries to present. This proves that author of this video is a certified yapper. Who can not or doesn't want to distinguish between MR Reduction and MR penetration. And tries to create hype on an empty spot.

Good start to match MR penetration with Lethality damage output against tanks. This season with enough lethality you practically deal true damage, with 5 MR penetration items you still take max 5% of the tanks health per spell.

Hmm, that interaction isn't supposed to happen. I suppose it's because it's two sources of % magic resist reduction - not % penetration. Still, the calculation is supposed to be the same I guess. In the penetration side the only sources are void staff/cryptbloom and Morde's E. Maybe in Arena with talisman of ascension it can be tested because perplexity can't be purchased with other magic pen items. Maybe bloodletter's curse?😮 Dunno how that works for % armor reduction (i.e. Nasus's E and Black Cleaver)

This video is flawed but also Eve is such a bad champ design and the most elo enflated champ Ive ever seen as someone who had her as my 2nd main. Like what is the counter if you hit charm, legit MR does nothing and even HP gets sheaded with her E, she doesnt need to use her ult on squishes with mercs and wits end late game if she hits charm and even champs like Brusiers will get 2 shot with ult while perma charmed. Its pretty easy to hit charm in a team fight and guaranted with flash, I feel like resistances are either insanely op or Rengar just builds a pen item that is giving more armor pen then two lethality items, pen abilties are dumb and unfun, how do you counter panth who with black cleaver does over 60% pen or nasus with a 50% pen from 1 ability, Eve with 40% pen, charm, and boots, if you have 60 mr its basically 0 and with 120mr its basically like 25 reducing the one shot by like 15% which doesnt matter late game when your cc'd, its like they want this stuff in the game because its a gimmick to be unique

None of your examples give magic penetration, they're magic resistance reduction. I went into a practice tool with Mordekaiser, bought Void Staff, levelled E, and saw that my Magic Penetration was 43%, not 45% like your video implies. So in summary, Riot made an undocumented change on magic resistance reduction calculations, but magic penetration was left untouched.
