What time for breakfast?

Was there last week (July 23) food is amazing, not sure what was better the views or the food. A must visit when in Samui.

I lived in Thailand for almost 5 years of which 18 months were on Samui and in Lipa Noi. This was my daily walk and I miss it so much now that I am back in cold, wet England. I have returned once since and will return again some day :)

Thanks for this video ! I came for the 1st time to Koh Samet in April 1989, I was 24 years old and I was on a 5 week trip to Thailand with a friend whom I had joined from Paris to Bangkok, he had left France 2 months before me to go around the world for 1 year and just before my arrival he had been to Indonesia to visit Java and the Sunda Islands for 2 months, then had been to Singapore to buy me photo and sound equipment before joining me in Bangkok. At that time Koh Samet did not look at all like the island it has become today, 95% of the island was inaccessible because it was too wild (vegetation and animals), there were no vehicles since there was no path and even less road. There were 2 or 3 beaches maybe, my buddy and I were at Candlelight beach. There were 5-6 very simple bungalows there under the trees and a restaurant open to all the winds, where we ate very well, which were run by 2 women and a wonderful boy who very quickly became a friend. His name was Richard Logado (it's weird, 33 years later I remember his name, his face and him very well...), he was Filipino and was 20-25 years old and was studying. He was there for a few months to earn money before returning to Manila in September. I remember his breakfasts which were just sublime, folded pancakes with condensed milk inside and which while cooking had become caramel, all served with an assortment of fresh cut fruits such as pineapple, mango , papaya and slices of these delicious little Thai bananas with such an extraordinary taste that you can't find anywhere else in the world, except in Thailand. The dishes on the menu offered at lunch and dinner were just as excellent, lots of seafood, shrimp and fish and grilled meats too, a real delight for cheap ! One day I had entered the kitchen and I had seen Richard cutting up a shark of at least 2.50 meters (> 8 feet). For me it was huge and had dozens and dozens of sharp, sharp teeth, and when I asked where it had been fished Richard replied very normally : "Oh right there, 20 meters in front of the restaurant, why ?". Why ???? But maybe because for several days it was exactly where I spent half my days, in the water swimming 20 or 30 meters from the beach and the restaurant so much this month of April 89 was warmer than usual according to what everyone told us, a real heat wave !!! Anyway, from that moment I stayed less than 10 meters from the beach, where there was not enough water for a shark to swim... I also remember that as soon as we arrived Richard told us and warned us : "Never lie down on the floor on your straw mattress in your bungalow without looking carefully to see if there was a snake under the pillow or under the straw mattress. And the same for your backpack, your clothes or your shoes, never put your hands or feet in them without having done a thorough inspection before. Every time you go up the ladder into the bungalow, look everywhere and take your flashlight with you for when you come back at night." Me : "Richard quick question, what types of snakes are there on the island ?" Richard : "Cobras, and there are quite a few so watch out !" Two days later after swimming and spending 2-3 hours at the beach, I decide to take a nap in the bungalow. After the traditional inspection of my berth I lie down to rest a little. And then suddenly I see a black and long thing on the wooden cleat that supported the entire roof and crossed the entire length of the bungalow at 1.80 meters from the ground, and this thing begins to move. There I wake up my buddy and we beat the world record and the Olympic record for exiting a bungalow by shouting "Richaaarrrrddddd cobra inside !!!!!!!!!". By the time he was looking for a snake claw and coming to our hut the cobra had passed over the roof outside, and from the roof he passed over a tree branch just above and certainly left by the same path than the one he had taken to come and visit our house. Fucking stress and emotion... The rest of our stay of 5 or 6 days was fortunately calmer and we were really able to rest and have a good time on Koh Samet before leaving for a much more sporty 15-day raid on motorcycles in the Golden Triangle in the north of the country. A year and a half later I was back in the Rayong area in September 1990, well decided to redo a new stay on Koh Samet. We had just spent a week trudging through the mountains where the mines are located on the Cambodian border in the Chanthaburi region, in order to buy sapphires and other precious stones, and there we were exhausted and tired. Arrived at Phe I ask a 1st fisherman if he can bring us to the island, refusal on his part. I ask for a 2nd, a 3rd, a 4th, all refuse. Finally I had found a policeman who explains to me in English that it is impossible to go to Koh Samet because it is strictly forbidden, hence the refusal of the fishermen. And when I ask him why, he explains to me, whispering in my ear : "It's far too dangerous, Koh Samet is infested with cobras everywhere and everyone was evacuated after there were accidents . So ban on going there ! Finally we had taken the direction of Trat and we had been on Koh Chang... where we had also had several problems with cobras. But this is another story... P.S. : Sorry for the length... 🤔😉😂🤙

So meine Lieben ich komme im August 2022 wider in dieses Hotel ich hoffe das es in einem guten Zustand ist Die Häuschen gegenüber dem Haupteingang wurden 2018 Renoviert mit teils neuen Möbeln und Fußböden PVC Laminat in Holzoptik , die Fliesen Böden haben mir besser gefallen. mal sehen ob sie auch mal die Matratzen erneuert haben . da haben ja schon Tausende Gäste darauf gelegen und Geschwitzt. und die Klima anlagen gereinigt so das man nicht den Jahrelangen ausgeblasenen Dreck einatmen muss und das zu schweren Atemwegs Infektionen führen kann . ich habe 2018 mit einem Freund im AMORA gewohnt und sind beide Böse Krank geworden Bronchial Infektion und Lungenentzündung durch verdreckte Klimageräte. ich freue mich schon auf Bang Tao Bay .Best Western & spa
