Deception, a short film by Sydney Thaxton
At our newly formed Institute for Southern Storytelling at Mississippi College, our goal is not only to involve MC students but also to have collaborations beyond campus. This will include working with high school students in some capacities to help them tell stories. Our first such collaboration was allowing Sydney Thaxton to utilize equipment to help complete an assignment at Jackson Academy in her AP Language class. Ms. Bannerman gave a one word assignment, and Sydney wrote and directed the following short film to demonstrate that word. She chose to depict "Deception" through a commentary on the influence of social media. We are pleased to present this amazing work to you. Please share!

Great video, great trip. We had a small N.C. Wyeth show in Portland a few years ago. I'm a painter and wanted to stand about 1.5 inches away from the canvases. A friend of mine was the guard in the room at the Portland Art Museum. so it wasn't an issue. I was allowed to consume every layer, every brush stroke, ever nuance.
I see in many of N C W's " narrative paintings" the moment just before the "decisive moment". The human subject has made thier decision to act,in thier mind, and N C is showing that. The spring has been wound, the decision to release it has been made, now the tension for us , the viewer, is in waiting and anticipating the moment of release.
This video is so very very well done. I am so happy that you and your daugher were able to see that exhibit. It was indeed a great one. Living only about an hour and a half from the Brandywine Museum, I have visited that musem many many times since the 1970's. I hope you and your daughter can get back again some time. The Fansworth Museum in Maine is also a great Wyeth place. Thanks again for the supurb video and happy painting to you and your daughter.

Cooper, I know! Julia was so full of life, and it is hard to contemplate. This brief clip was the only thing I had of her, and not a great tribute... but wanted to do something. Thanks for commenting.
