Welcome! Thanks for stopping by. This is a space where I’ll be sharing my experience as a sound engineer/music creative from Jamaica. Look forward to seeing a mix of tech reviews, maybe a few tutorials, and insights into this area, as well as a handful of creative projects I might post from time to time.
HURRICANE BERYL | "WEATHERING THE STORM" | KINGSTON, JAMAICA
Preparing for and experiencing one of the most powerful storms to have ever formed this early in the hurricane season.
As a Jamaican Sound Designer, I knew I had to capture the sonic experience of what it was like to go through a Category 4 Hurricane in Kingston, Jamaica. But I decided to take things a step further by documenting my life a day before and during the storm. This roughly 90 second film was the result.
Feel the panic as we scrambled to secure everything in place, headed for shelter and hunkered down to bear witness to the sheer weight and power of the impending storm. The big question after the rains have stopped is: what is coming next? Will there be anything left standing as global temperatures rise and these storms gain strength?
Sound effects from the storm and around the island will be available in my sound library entitled: "Sounds of Jamaica" - coming soon. Will update this description when it is available for purchase.
Until then, my heart goes out to everyone who has been severely impacted by this storm. Let us come together to rebuild and stay vigilant for what is to come.

Sennheiser HD26 Pro: Hidden Pro Audio Gem?

It's been pretty hard to find recent videos that talk about the Sennheiser HD26 Pros, so I've decided to put together my thoughts in this week's #TechTuesday review. This video is not sponsored or endorsed by Sennheiser, so I'm just sharing my honest opinions about what it's been like using these in the field over the past few months, after switching from the Sennheiser 280 Pros. Tech Tuesdays: Zooming in on the Zoom F6
zhlédnutí 114Před rokem
This is a review of the Zoom F6 from the perspective of a sound effects recordist and sound designer. I mainly went through this video listing the points that came to mind, as though I were recommending this to a colleague. This video is not endorsed by Zoom, but just an honest review of one of my primary tools that I use quite frequently.

Movie quality 🔥
This was good…short but good! 😌
Thank you! It was easier to edit and sound design a shorter version to fit the release window (less than a week after the storm). I have some more footage, but I think it would be better to focus on the impact of the storm on Jamaicans who were severely affected and bringing those stories to life. That way it could be more comprehensive, and show both the micro and macro perspectives.
First. 🔥
Nice Video! Would you recommend them for a DJ ?
Best headphone review for recording I've seen in a while
Great! Thanks för sharing

Thanks for this review!
You’re welcome!
Strange they tailor the frequency response to peak where our hearing is most sensitive. Do you use the foam inside the BBG?
Hey Ed, sorry for the delay in responding. Initially I rarely used the foam that’s included as it’s pretty much useless for outdoor, windy recording. But I have done a few interior recordings where I’ve preferred having the foam just for light wind from maybe an AC unit running indoors or something to that effect. Hope this helps.
Thank you for this review. It's valuable to have detailed reviews based on actual experience. I also live in a hot and humid part of the world. I think you have done a great job! Cheers! :o)
Happy to help!
I have 21 mm bbg rycote , super hard to squeeze in to . Any more feedback ?
I’ve worked out a way to squeeze the mic into the windjammer, but sometimes it involves possibly pushing the rubber in the middle out of place temporarily (which if you’re not careful can ruin the integrity of your windshield). Basically, when placing the mic in the windshield, I try a combination of twisting the mic as I push it into the rubber (while pressed against a solid flat surface, like a wall). Once I get the mic through, in order to move the windshield up to the correct position, I place the middle grill of the mic on a solid flat surface (the metal part that separates left and right), then I use both thumbs to push the windshield along the body of the mic until it’s in place. Then, twist lock the other half of the BBG windshield.

Which size BBG did you buy, Milton? Therefore you suggest 1mm bigger. I have the 22mm, like Roland.
Hey Cyberman, sorry for the delay. Mine is the 21 mm version.
Thanks. I got the 22mm BBG for this mic, but would rather a blimp, that accepts a 5-pin XLR cable. Please could somebody suggest one that fits the BP4025 well. Good luck, Roland
I got the Boya BY-WS1000 blimp and switched the cable to 5-pin. Works well with the BP4025.
@@raahensalophotography fantastic, i just ordered it - what about a 5-pin cable? got a link ?
@@raahensalophotography How do you remove the 3-pin cable ? I can't see how the handle comes apart ( unless I cut the old cable off )
@@pandoraefretum I de-soldered the 3-pin plug from the other end. Or you can just cut the cable if don't have any other plans for it.
@@raahensalophotography I follow. Pity there is not a more elegant solution.. thx, anyway.
Well done Milton! Thanks for putting this up. Very informative. I think the mount that comes with the mic is just a mic stand mount, not a shock mount, or am I mistaken?
Hi Ted! Glad you found the video informative. The mount that comes is just a regular mic stand mount and not a shock mount. That's why I ended up buying the Rycote Shock mount, but I think if you purchase the larger windshied that it comes with everything included: shock mount, windshield, windjammer.
Thanks Milton!
