I am not familiar with track day racing, but I find this fascinating and looks like a heck of a lot of fun when people are behaving. I presume it’s too complicated or expensive to issue radios to all the drivers? What kind of beating do your tires take in a track like this?

I want to start tracking my BRZ at Pocono. I'm thinking of joining the SCCA, any recommendations?

I remember you saying something in a previous vid about it being a mistake to go too wide into that loooong sweeping right onto that straight. But I do wonder if a wider entry would make sense in the McLaren with the setup on it. You have a lot more speed to shed on approach to the corner, and a lot more power to rebuild speed. So maybe you can trail brake a wide entry to get the car rotated more earlier, and straighten out the corner some to mitigate the push?

Seeing the active airbrake in the rear view mirror is so cool

Your initial reaction reminded me of the step up from my E36 M3 race car to my GT3 Cup race car. It too was a dramatic change. In time you would become desensitized to the added power if you continued to drive the McLaren.

Regarding your commentary around 6 minutes,..... It's not so much the tires. Mid engine cars generally lack front end feel and that is what you experienced. A grippier tire will give you more confidence trust the car on corner entry, but you will still lack feel. Also, McLaren is notorious for going light on the front tire width. They set it up for understeer to keep their clients safe. Towards the end, you started to cook the Michelins which naturally leads to even more understeer, plus the brakes got hot, and that is why you went off. Fun cars those MP4-12c.

Hahaha. I can relate. I used to track a 91 civic. I was decently quick on the track other than on the straight sections, which are always the passing sections on a track day. I feel your pain. 😂😂😂

Honestly i feel you on the traffic thing but for me once i see that’s the case i switch up my mindset really quickly and just focus on doing some racing instead of setting lap times. That way i prevent myself from getting frustrated at being behind someone because really it’s not bad that there’s some traffic it’s just your mindset going in was on setting lap times. You gotta let that go real quick lol

The Toyota motors in the Elise kinda suck... It would be decent with a k20 motor but then your another $10k into the car... Also the short wheel base makes them a handful with no notice. The FRS/BRZ is a great machine.
