Welcome! My name is Marisol and I've been designing and sewing my own clothes for a very long time. Being petite (4’ 11”) makes it really hard to find clothes that fit, so designing and making them myself was the perfect solution!
Women come in all shapes and sizes, but what most petite women have in common is that they struggle to find clothes that fit their body proportions. The term "Petite" has nothing to do with your weight, but everything to do with your height (especially if you’re under 5’).
This is why I love to share how I design, sew and style pieces that fit the way I need them to fit. I hope you find these videos helpful, inspiring and a bit entertaining. Please feel free to share suggested topics in the comments.

My Winter Sewing Plans | This year it's all about layering!
I'm concentrating on layering for this winter season! This will work out perfectly since I don't plan to travel anywhere super cold this year.
My sewing plans include a blazer, a pair of pants, two tops, a bomber jacket and a fitted jacket. My goal is to use fabrics I already have in my stash and use two upcycled garments to make the tops. All of the sewing patterns are self drafted and the only one I have to create is the one for the fitted jacket.

If you aren't purchasing fabric - how about a swap? I have some stretch twill that is off white I will never use. Bought from an estate sale and it is a good size piece. Also a stretch linen that I will never use. Only stretch I like are knits. Whaddyasay???

Once you know how long the flounce needs to be (mine is approx. 19" long), use that measurement to draw the inner circle on the pattern paper. Then decide how wide you want the ruffle to be (I made it 4" wide - *without seam allowance), then draw an outer circle measuring out the width measurement. I plan to make a full video tutorial soon...stay tunned!🙂

I like the Reader's Digest Complete Guide to Sewing, the older edition, as a resource for many matters not explained well in many newer patterns. Every kind of buttonhole, proper seam grading, how to sew corners that lie flat, etc. etc. . . .

Thanks so much for noticing! This is not fabric yardage, it was a dress donated by a friend…she was getting rid of it because it had some stains on it. I like to use other people’s waste to test out sewing techniques.💚
