      I doubt that he knows. 😀 The ONLY indicator that requires an angled stylus that I know of is the Interapid and it's NOT 20 degrees (more like 12 degrees IIRC). All other indicators that I've use (Mitutoyo, Compac, BesTest, Starrett...) have 0 degree measuring angle (or 90 degrees from the direction of the measuring force). I guess most guys don't read the instructions included with the tools they use.

  • @alphabob8156
    @alphabob8156 Před 3 lety

    Thank you for this video - very interesting stuff! And special thanks for leaving in the 0.470" versus 0.445" confusion. All micrometers read a little differently regarding whether the additional 0.025" line shows completely, partially shows, or [on cheap micrometers] is almost completely hidden (on a reading like 0.450 for instance). Regardless, showing the mistake and how to logically correct it will help others and shows the humility necessary to be a good teacher. Thanks again!

      @@sayhallo3769 Problem is then for you its a chicken and egg situation, you will not remember them because you do not use metric. Trust me i was an engineer and grew up with imperial so i know both systems. The decimal rule with 50 divisions has tenths of an inch, the numbers equal .1 of an inch. Each of the small graduation marks represent .02 of an inch so if you are 3 graduation marks past the 2, two tenths, then you have .2 + (3 x .02) which equals .26. Thanks for asking.
