Just when you thought the Griswolds would finally have their big day at Wally World… 1:28 Fate dropped that *bomb* on them. A road trip from the Windy City (Chicago) to the City of Angels (L. A.), a family fun plan concocted by Clark, a few mishaps and accidents, a sudden death in Ellen’s family, and yet, when they finally made it, the powers that be just up and decided to close the park for a couple of weeks for maintenance. Everything was all for absolutely naught (aka nothing).

Not quite up there with the women’s 800m record, but definitely up there with Flo Jo’s records as among the most dubious going. Didn’t get close to this again after the anti doping regulations were tightened. Did you know that 50% of the winners at the 1988 olympics would have still won in the 2008 olympics 20 years later? All track and field performance suddenly hit a wall after they brought in stricter measures.

Everyone is making one big mistake... it was LYNDON JOHNSON'S WAR, NOT NIXONS WAR. People have their heads buried in the sand about this little fact. LBJ started /escalated this war to line his pockets with corrupt financial payments from the military industrial complex which Gen. Eisenhower warned us about . LBJ and his naive Secretary of Defense Robt. McNamara caused so much pain and misery for the American people . McNamara wrote a book before his death in which he apologized to the families of the brave men and women of our military. The corrupt LBJ never apologized !!!!!!

Wooden had the lucky penny routine in which he would pretend to find a lucky penny in the locker. Bill knew it was coming so he hid it, and had a good laugh watching Coach search for the missing penny. Don't know when Coach Wooden found out it was Bill who hid the penny.

Basketball reigns supreme. F'ball is too brutal. Still, they try to pretend it's harmless. Baseball ... what to say? Tennis? Very, very cool ... 2nd to hoops. I was a swimmer introduced to basketball. What a delight for as long as I could go. Still, love watching the game. It's James Naismith's accidental gift to history, invented to keep football players running after their season ended. Nope ... became the leading game in the world and puttin' the others to shame.

I attennded Wash. State Univ. ...70-72 and was on the broadcast crew for KWSU TV / PBS. We were allowed to take the coaching classes that were usually closed to only P.E. majors and athletes. The black guy in the video about the haircut (he's bald now) but in the picture he talks about his "fro." That's Sydney Wicks. In our WSU coaching class, Coach Marv Harshman told us that with most players, if you get hit, you hit back. He said with Wicks, he hits you, then you hit him back, then he hits you back twice. My one in person experience w/ Bill Walton was before a telecast game at WSU, I was on the court before UCLA entered the gym. They were fist bumping and high fiving, and you could just sense how confident and athletic they were. I was such a little twerp that I felt totally insignificant in their presence.....I felt kind of foolish; here I was a kid sportscaster, and these guy are really the ones who are stars.
